Johns Creek police are working with Carmel, Indiana, police to find Ciera Breland (Locklair).

Police did not say why they believe she may be in the Johns Creek area.

Husband named 'person of interest' in disappearance of 31-year-old Indiana mother last seen in Georgia

Police have named the husband of a missing 31-year-old Indiana mother as a person of interest in her disappearance. Georgia police are working to help find her as she was last seen by family members in metro Atlanta.

Xavier Breland Jr., 37, was arrested on Wednesday on an unrelated warrant out of Coweta County. He was being held in the Hamilton County jail in Indiana awaiting extradition to Georgia. Investigators have not revealed what charges were listed on the warrant.

The official missing person's report states that Ciera (Locklair) Breland was last seen around 10 p.m. on Feb. 25 in the Brookstone Park of Carmel subdivision in Carmel, Indiana. That is just north of Indianapolis. That report was filed with the Carmel Police Department over the weekend.

The report also states she said she was headed to the store wearing a black top and purple shorts. The FOX 5 Storm Team said temperatures in Carmel, Indiana were in the mid- to upper-20s that night. Family members said police told them she never arrived there and there was no surveillance video of her entering the store.

She also left without her cell phones, credit cards, or her months old son, family members said.

Ciera was last seen by her father on Feb. 20 in Georgia before returning to Johns Creek with her husband. Those same family member said they never saw her return to Indiana.

The Johns Creek Police Department issued a statement on Tuesday asking the public's help in finding her. The department issued a joint release with the Carmel Police Department on Wednesday that named her husband as a person of interest.

"This continues to be an active investigation, and this is the only information that will be released at this time. As the investigation continues, more information will be released as it becomes available," the release noted.

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - More than 8 months after new mother Ciera Breland was last seen leaving her mother-in-law's home in Johns Creek with her husband, a new documentary is providing new intimate details about the search for her.

Long article including timeline at link. ~Summer
One detail police revealed during the documentary was about the surveillance video obtained from a stop along the way. Family members said it raised concerns for what it didn’t show rather than what it did.

"They saw Xavier get out and go to the bathroom, get out and pump gas, but they never saw anybody else get out," her father said.

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. – The husband of a missing Carmel woman is being extradited back to Indiana.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Xavier Breland would be returned to custody in Indiana, although law enforcement officials didn’t have a timeline or clarify the reason for his extradition.

According to online court records, Hamilton County prosecutors charged Breland with unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon in November. The charge stems from a Feb. 28, 2022 incident in which there was “an accidental discharge of a firearm” at a home on Baldwin Lane, according to court documents.

Breland told police he was moving a Christmas tree in the garage when he heard a gunshot. He ran out of the garage and then went back inside, where he located the gun and unloaded it. Police collected a Sig Sauer P365 during the incident and said Breland gave an officer a missing persons flier about his wife, Ciera Breland.

Husband of missing Carmel woman released from jail after posting bond

The husband of a Carmel woman who was last seen in February 2022 has been released from the Hamilton County Jail after posting a surety bond on a gun charge.

A jail sergeant told 13News Xavier Breland was released at around 10 p.m. Thursday.

Breland was extradited from Georgia and arrived in Indiana Wednesday night.

At Breland's initial hearing, he pleaded with the judge to lower his bond to an amount his mother could afford. His bond had been set at $35,000 and prosecutors wanted it increased to $50,000.

"I just need an opportunity to get my life back in order," Breland told the judge.

Breland said he could get a job as a truck driver if he was let out of jail.

After considering the case, the judge set bond at $100,000.

Breland also said he was fighting for custody of the 1-year-old he had with Ciera Breland (Locklair), but her disappearance was not mentioned in court Thursday.

An Indiana mom is still missing a year after she vanished the same week that she reportedly planned on leaving her husband, who police said is still a person of interest in her disappearance.

<snip>
Since then, there have been several targeted searches and evidence was collected inside her mother-in-law's home, but police said there weren't any updates, as of Tuesday, although the investigation is "very active."

Xavier's lawyer, Bryan Howard, told Fox News Digital, "There won't be any movement in this case if they only focus on him. He didn't do anything."

There's still no sign of Ciera Breland a year after she vanished, but without her body, her parents said they're trapped in a "tormenting" standstill.

"You know how they say they're waiting for the shoe to drop? We're waiting for the bomb to drop," Ciera's mom, Kelly Locklair, told Fox News Digital. "We're hoping a fisherman or a hunter or someone like that will stumble across her. Just, please, Lord, someone find her."

<snip>
"That's where we stand now," Locklair said. "We don't want to go forward (with criminal charges) without finding her. We don't want to find her later and run into any double jeopardy issues."

Without going into details, Locklair said law enforcement has collected evidence and statements in multiple states, but they're essentially pieces of a puzzle without knowing the full picture.

Some items were taken out of Xavier's mom's home, which was revealed in court documents from a civil case after Xavier's mom sued Xavier's sister.

Crime Scene Investigation cut the carpet and mattress from Xavier's mom's home on April 21, 2022, as part of their search, according to the documents from the familial civil dispute that were obtained by Fox News Digital.

It has already been pushed FOUR TIMES and he will only keep asking as he has each time and they need to stop granting such!

Just say NO. Judge. You can do it.

What did they expect, just granting continuance after continuance. Now they need to find him and get serious about this. He got given all that leeway and rather than doing as he was to do bails on the appearance.

They need to start by checking the passenger lists from the various airlines at the Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Ft. Wayne airports, to name 3.

Agree. And hopefully they have him in short order and then the delays and "kindness" from the judge stops. This should have never happened. All anyone needs to do is read a handful of posts here before this happened. He bought time and bought time and judge kept granting it and he probably figured the chances of it continuing would end soon and so off he goes....

FIRST ON FOX – The sole "person of interest" in a two-year-old missing person case was arrested in Georgia weeks after he failed to show up to court in Indiana, Georgia State Police confirmed.

Xavier Breland skipped town before his end-of-December court appearance in Hamilton County, Indiana, on a gun charge unrelated to his estranged wife's disappearance in February 2022.

The fugitive was caught by Georgia State Police on Monday after a weekslong manhunt and taken into custody on a re-arrest warrant. Law enforcement is preparing extradition back to Indiana.

Breland's lawyer did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

<snip>

Meanwhile, Xavier's jury trial for the Hamilton County weapons charge, which was scheduled for Jan. 8, was bumped back for the third time since June 12, 2023, according to the court docket after he failed to show up in December.

Potential criminal charges against Xavier in Ciera's disappearance likely won't move on without more substantial evidence or Ciera's body.

Glad as heck he was found. Why would he violate a mandatory court appearance etc. if not worried maybe about arrest on her death? Why get himself in more trouble unless he is worried he will be arrested for her murder? The last sentence is depressing in that criminal charges won't likely move or come without more substantial evidence or her body but I find that statement odd. LE never generally says anything like that and says it about him specifically as if they know he is the perp but they say publicly (after he bolted) charges won't come until they have more against HIM. HIm specifically.

I almost think he has some clue he was about to be or they are getting close to charging him and they are trying to publicly say they can't so he doesn't bolt again before they get the ducks in a row to charge him. Or so I hope...

That just isn't the type of comment you'd generally see from LE. Pointing at him but telling him they don't have enough so don't worry Xavier, stick around...

Maybe I am reading too much into it but I hope he knew something was about to come down and they are trying to assure him no, no, we have nothing until they can nab him shortly...?

Not sure if I am putting it right or explaining what I mean very well...
