Family offering $20,000 reward for man who disappeared after ‘weird run-in’ with stranger

Katie Wells of Rigby tells EastIdahoNews.com her nephew, Dylan Rounds, was last seen Saturday in Lucin, Utah, on the farm where he is working. Rounds apparently called several family members last Wednesday after having a “weird run-in” with a guy on a gravel road.

“The man was walking down the gravel road barefoot. He flagged Dylan down, who was in his truck. He asked to use Dylan’s phone and was acting erratically. Dylan felt the man was dangerous and may have been high. When he asked Dylan for a ride, (Dylan) did not give him a ride,” Wells explains.

Wells says the man was spotted in Montello, Nevada several days later asking about Dylan and there are reports that the man got a ride to Dylan’s trailer on Saturday.

“We don’t believe anything was ransacked,” Wells explains. “Dylan is missing, his phone is missing and his wallet.”

Noting Dylan’s age, Wells says some people seem to think Dylan ran off, but she suspects foul play.

“He is an old soul, farm boy at heart. All he wants to do is get up and work all day every day. He isn’t interested in partying, he isn’t interested in travel. He never dated in high school. He’s not your typical 19-year-old,” Wells says.

Dylan’s mom, Candice Cooley, lives in Twin Falls and his dad, Justin Rounds, lives in Ucon. They are actively involved in the search and are offering a $20,000 reward to anyone who finds him or knows where he might be.

I thought I had read/saw that somewhere.
Yeah, it's in the press release included in the article at the following link:

Here is another interview with Dylan's mom from today.
I don't typically get into the YouTube videos and vloggers and whatnot. But it seems to be the only way to get info on this case.

That's true sadly of more than a few cases and especially when it is a missing adult, they don't stay in the news much if they make it in at all... YTers do fill that void at times.

So I am watching the Duty Ron one posted above with Dylan's mom. Not through it yet and have to get to bed but thought I would mention that yes, they figured initially he walked the five miles from the grain truck to home and something happened, they weren't thinking foul play at first, just something happened on that walk... So I'm just confirming per her, it was five miles away and the truck is where they first headed on arrival down there.

Also there is a man/friend named Jim who has a camper there and he was there when they got there, and that was normal I guess.

Another thing is she said Dylan has a triangle he travels/lives in. Lucin UT and two areas of Idaho she mentioned. She didn't mention the town in Nevada but that doesn't mean she won't or that it isn't part of his routine, somewhere he goes.

So grandpa and Dylan own 640 acres but someone else owns the other property (whatever that means) and Dylan is working with this unnamed guy trying to buy it and it sounds like has bought a little and Dylan has access to this man's property and that's basically how it is (roughly paraphrasing mom's words...)

And it's confusing as she is asked if truck is at shed that he has to walk and she said no, at his farm. I believe by his she means Dylan's but then she gets into the part about the other man's property so this part is only as clear as mud to me.... It seems quite odd to me you'd park a grain truck and walk five miles across desert, I mean is there no one at these farms to give someone a quick ride back...

She said the truck has to be there at the farm so he can plant from it... Said it is a 10 wheel grain truck I think she said...

So he and grandpa own a farm and yet it sounds as if he was trying to maybe buy his own or buy some land from this other guy. A bit confusing.

She says they initially thought the shotgun too was missing but they located that in his house in Rickby or Rigby or something like that "where he stays" she says. Is this the camper or there is a house somewhere too...?

Truck is in his dad's name as is the pistol that is missing. I would note they also thought the shotgun was missing and it wasn't but they haven't found the pistol...

And I am beginning to wonder, is there a personal truck and a grain truck and they are two different trucks? I don't think I realized that...

Squatters. Anti government types. Bunkers built into the mountains and the ground. Getting ready for world end or world war. They are out there for a reason. They don't want to be seen. Lots of them. Like in a movie. Until there you wouldn't believe it she says. A world of its own out there and its types...

Sooo amidst all of this they have a huge farm.

Did I hear him right? Most of this private property is BLM's I think he said??? WHAT??? Maybe he said BLN or something... He asks her if she thought of contacting the BLN or BLM police...??? Are they talking maybe some reservation or something? Maybe I am hearing it wrong.

She says he was always "packing" so that answers that question. The pistol was likely on his person. So then how did anyone get the best of him...

There is no Gofundme but people have donated and if people want to or do she says it will go towards getting Dylan out of there and farming somewhere else.

Nothing I am hearing about this area would anyone want their kid there is what I'm left thinking so far listening to this...

Sounds like TX Equ. is going to do some drone searches, etc.

Also a few handlers etc. are coming in with dogs to search and volunteered too.

I probably have to finish watching later. Way past needing to get to bed.

BLM - Bureau of Land Management

Equ. rep. says been crazy, crazy case. Apparently LE called her during the live Duty Ron video I gather etc. They are going to be helping and had to have LE on board.

Apparently every time the mother says something publicly about what LE isn't doing or when getting on response from them, etc., they then react and respond. Sad that it takes that. Also, the sheriff's wife contacted her through FB and knew of things in the case the parents did not. Now that seems very inappropriate. Also I gather this is no little podunk sheriff's department, she says they have a big county and population.

That makes perfect sense. I was racking my brain trying to think what either might stand for but was also so tired when watching it and posting. Didn't get it finished before I crashed. Only got a few hours sleep. I have about 1/2 hour left of the video. It is worth watching, almost all of it is her talking and answering questions. So far anyhow and they played a clip or two of news.

I heard her say in an earlier interview that he might have walked the 5 miles and that wasn’t unusual for him. I think that was in the Heavy D video. I wonder if the stories keep changing because for some reason they confirm things along the way.

Yes I haven’t heard that clarified but that’s how I’ve taken it, that there are two trucks. I don’t know about his farm but the farm where I’m at you do need a different kind of a truck to be your grain truck. And you would not use that as a daily truck.

BLM owns a LOT of land in the western states.

Not our current sheriff, but I’ve had a sheriff in the past tell me things that would probably surprise you. They may be in a large county with a large population, but it doesn’t mean it’s not still with a rural mindset.
