The topless thing is very common in France especially. I had a friend who was a French stewardess with BA and went on several free holiday with her. She went topless on the beach and at the beachside bar. I was embarrassed and never followed suit but it was normal and natural for her. In France especially they have many public nudist beaches too. We went to a couple of them when the kids were young as the beaches were beautiful but it is not my thing at all but many see it as natural and certainly not grooming at all. We kept all our clothes on but were in the minority.
I appreciate this. It can be difficult to put situations into perspective when the location determines what is/isn't appropriate. It's not something I would ever do however I wouldn't judge any adult who chose to.

Comey is rebutting now. Does defence get the last word/rebuttal?

Nearly ended now hopefully. I think we should have a verdict by end of tomorrow.

The prosecutors always close first & then again after the defense because the burden of proof is up to them to prove. hth

*I finished reading the jury charge instructions & it proved to be very helpful.

Is Comey equating sexual abuse with Turkey? How strange. Turkey is a pleasant experience.

Comey is referring to the comment made by the dense witness, Loftus who referenced turkey (L-tryptophan) clouding your memory.

Oh, that went right over my head then. Here is an interesting article, again by Vicky Ward. She makes some good points. We only seem to hear about the women in this case rather than the men.
I don't think I have posted it before, forgive me if I have.

Best quote of that article is my question as well.

But if I were a juror, I’d be asking myself: What did these men see in Epstein, who has been portrayed in court as a sick, perverted man whose time, chiefly, seems to have been spent getting sexualized massages?

I know what the answer to that question would be for me were I a juror and it is what I think without being a juror as well. I think it's all there to draw a reasonable and logical conclusion of why most were around this perverted but well known and rich duo. Jmo.

Any idea what will now happen to the perjury accusations? While they charge her with them immediately or do you think they were hoping she was going to lie on the stand?

She's already been charged. A court date will be set after this trial. It's probably best she didn't testify.

Looks like they often use conscious avoidance if the evidence is weak.

NACDL - Willful Blindness blindness%2C also known as,high probability a fact exists.

Willful Blindness

Willful blindness, also known as conscious avoidance, is a judicially-made doctrine that expands the definition of knowledge to include closing one's eyes to the high probability a fact exists. While the doctrine originated in the context of drug trafficking cases, it has since been expanded to a wide array of prosecutions and is increasingly used in white collar cases. The use of the willful blindness doctrine in criminal prosecutions is deeply troubling. NACDL not only opposes further expansion of this doctrine, but is working to reform its use and influence in the criminal justice system.

Consistently benefiting the prosecution, a request to instruct the jury on willful blindness usually comes on the heels of weak evidence of knowledge, without any advance warning to the defense, and invites the jury to convict based on evidence of mere negligence or recklessness.
This page provides news and resources on the willful blindness doctrine and efforts at meaningful reform.

I wonder if this means they have already discounted Kate's testimony.

Jury wants to read testimony by Jane, Carolyn and Annie Farmer. All three of them were minors at the time of the alleged abuse. ..,

Carolyn & Jane were 14 — and Annie was 16 when they were abused.

The defense spent more than 2 hours on Monday trying to discredit the victims — pointing to inconsistencies in their testimony.
