A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

Police say no campsite was found at the nature reserve during search for Brian Laundrie

"
(CNN)North Port Police say investigators did not find a campsite in the sprawling nature reserve that has been the focus of the search for Brian Laundrie, the missing fiancé of Gabby Petito.
Police spokesperson Josh Taylor's confirmation that there was no campsite comes after a source close to the Laundrie family told CNN's Chris Cuomo that they had been informed by investigators that police had made a discovery in Florida's Carlton Reserve.
The source on Thursday insisted that the Laundrie family had been told a campsite had been found.
........"

They found one, they didn't find one...they asked him to help, they didn't ask him to help...? and...who is this "source" close to the Laundrie family?
This case has WAY too many rumors surrounding it.

Brian Laundrie manhunt: Fugitive's father to join search at Carlton Reserve, lawyer says

'Chris Laundrie was asked to assist law enforcement in their search,' attorney Steve Bertolino said Wednesday

And they are going to believe him with what ever he says?

Does anyone think there is a possibility they worry Brian will hear this so they are denying these things? Maybe they don't want him knowing they found evidence of him or a campsite and giving any warning and maybe they didn't want him knowing his dad was coming either and/or wanted them to think dad was there on his own if he heard his voice or something, etc....

On the other hand, the Laundries could be lying about both things.

Or the "source" could be...

It is odd it is CNN reporting no camp site because I read earlier CNN was the first with the news there was a campsite... If this is a rumor it sure spread like truth even into media...

Sigh...

I just had this thought about the campsite-no campsite thing: what if they really did find a campsite; brought the dad in to show them where they would camp, etc.; not tell him where the campsite was that they had found; and see if he would identify that campsite as one of the ones they had previously used.

That was my thought or to see his reaction to various things/places or watch his actions like trying to leave a signal or such.

Yeah! It reminded me of when they took Misty Croslin down to the dock and were telling her that they believed Haleigh Cummings was thrown into the river to get her reaction.

Was watching national news tonight (don't know which channel) and they said local LE and FBI are getting all kind of crazy tips. One tip that a caller gave was they watched the vid of the Laundries gardening in their backyard, and a hand reached out from the grass, so obviously they have Brian living underground. Jeez o flip!! :)

I have seen that on YT and also people are thinking there is an underground bunker there or somewhere as well. Ridiculous. I should say SOME are saying such things... Others are laughing at how ridiculous people are...

What is wrong with some peeps? Goodness!!
It's crazy. It seemed more responsible and "cleaner" many months back but it seems to be getting a bit like FB imo. Of course new creators also come on and some of them are over the top with rumors and sensationalism and click bait.

I actually happened on a live when the drone was live over the parents at the flower bed/raised garden or whatever one wants to call it. I lasted about 3 or 4 minutes in it watching and reading comments before I had to exit. It was disgusting. People were speculating what the parents were digging, burying, etc.

Don't get me wrong, perhaps they were doing something but I doubt it. I thought it was trashy honestly as were people's comments. I figured the parents were in the back yard to get some peace and fresh air with reporters in the front and maybe at most so they could even talk privately if they worry their home is bugged. People were also eating it up when the father noticed the drone...

I don't think the parents are innocent of helping their son but the behavior of people is over the top. And the hand? What imaginations!! Yeah, what a bunch of cuckoos.

This is when people are desperate for news, so desperate, that they start writing fairytales! UGH
