A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

Their son put them in a pickle! They should have insisted he call the police when he got home without her, but they didn't!
Yep. And he keeps them there as well. These parents need to open their eyes. If there is one thing that was made clear in the Dr. Phil show, it was this and how they are not HELPING Brian either by doing this. The son is a total weinie. He needs to man up so his parents and sister are left alone.

Didn't someone post up thread the notice that was left on the mustang about it being abandoned?
I am so confused about all this!🤷‍♀️

Where was Brian Laundrie’s car found?

According to a redacted police report about an abandoned car — believed to be Laundrie’s — the Ford Mustang was discovered at 6968 Reisterstown Road at Myakkahatchee Environmental Park.

It was widely reported that Laundrie’s parents had found the car near the Carlton Reserve and had driven it home before reporting their son missing.

If the police report is accurate, this means that Laundrie’s car was actually found around 17.3 miles from the Venice side of the Carlton Reserve, which is where police focused much of their search.

It is unclear why police focused their search in this location rather than where Laundrie’s parents discovered their car.

You know, when they lawyered up it wasn't with a defense attorney, it was with their civil attorney which tells me they had no intention of hiring a defense attorney for the boy. IMO they called Bortolino and he told them to hire a good defense attorney for the boy and have him talk to the police but they chose to help him run instead. They are not smarter than LE. If I were Bortolino I would drop these clients before they throw him under the proverbial bus but maybe if they're charged, they will claim they didn't have the proper representation and were given bad advice.
Finally watched the Dr. Phil show and Gabby's parents said when LE first showed up at the Laundrie house, the parents answered the door with papers in hand to give to LE about the attorney.

My opinion agrees with your opinion about the reserve being a setup. I have a hard time thinking that they would involve a 3rd person to help with the getaway. Can't depend on the 3rd person not to spill the beans at some point either by accident or to save their own rear end. The question everyone was asking was how did he leave the house without being seen which leads to my speculative answer that he left with one parent probably in the truck and was dropped somewhere on 9-10, right after they knew they were reporting her missing. At some point after that both vehicles had to be gone at the same time. Hopefully there is video somewhere that shows a time frame when both vehicles were gone. We don't know that the car was left on 9-13. It could have been left there anytime after the police came to their house on 9-11. I'm remembering that LE said the parents refused to let them speak to him on the 11th and at the time I thought "refused" was an odd choice of words to use.

When they took the Mustang in, I wonder what, if any, info they got from any tracking electronics that may have been in the car. Perhaps they now, or will soon, have enough probable cause to haul in that big red truck and see when and where it's been.
They do have a garage attached. I think if they keep any vehicle in it that they could simply have drove out (one person for instance) with Brian in the trunk. From there, anything could have been arranged. He could have been dropped somewhere and then the parent comes home alone, apparently left alone, came home alone. Maybe the two parents then go or each left separately initially but one had him. I also think its entirely possible LE etc. and no one was really watching anyone too closely at that point. Not like she was found yet or he had a warrant...

I debate the third person too. It is pretty risky to add anyone. Although this attorney is apparently not only a long time attorney but a friend possibly as well. If I would guess anyone, it would be him. But maybe not. He clearly though has advised them on what they can do, can't do and probably what lines they can walk or dance near...

Good question. If I had to guess an answer it would be that they don't give a hoot about their neighbors to begin with and if the tables were turned, they would be selling media space on their lawn too.

And BTW, the Laundries get their mail in the dead of night to avoid being seen but their lawn is going to need to be mowed pretty soon and that's hard to do at night.
They are probably hoping Florida gets a rare freeze, no lawn mowing. They are going to have to call a lawn service and explain they have to come in and park amongst media and hope someone is willing... Maybe they will let it grow until their house can't be seen or the City sends a notice...

Part of me does feel for them with the harassment but... Their son did this to them. Next most likely is they did this to themselves...

If you look at his page it says he does criminal defense. It also says he is Long Island's premier private attorney. He talks like he does it all for his clients allowing one attorney to handle all of the personal and business matters (paraphrasing)...

Yeah, if they thought he was there and worried about him, WHY did they go there and pick up the car and how did they know where the cars was??!!
I can only think of two ways most likely. He told them where he was going to leave the car OR they are the ones who left it there either with him or without him. I guess it is MAYBE possible the plates were ran and they got a call that it was unattended but I doubt that somehow. I am sure they probably ticket, wait to see if moved and the tow... Not their job to call the owners...

They for sure are between a rock and a hard place.

If I searched the Laundrie house, I would be checking to see if there were two sets of Mustang keys there or one... Most people have two. Because based on the Laundries' claims Brian must be running around with a set yet then right....?

.
So according to the new revelation on the location the car was parked, Brian allegedly was in a different area of the park. So now they get to start the search all over again.

So we’re supposed to believe the parents aren’t helping him??

:cautious:
It begs the question why they didn't know where to look in the first place. It isnt likely the registration didn't come back to someone with their last name. Is that not in the same county?

It was a good show with really none of the rumors rampant in it just the facts the parents knew and their side of what happened. And the Laundrie parents should feel pretty small after this show and do the right thing but I doubt they will.

Yep, pretty hard to give them the benefit of the doubt at this point. They definitely helped/are helping it sure seems. Can't see any other explanation for these things...

You are right. I totally missed that when I was looking him up. One stop shopping. Looking at the disclaimer on that site, it appears there is more than 1 attorney yet no other attorneys are listed. Surely this guy isn't so smart that he knows every nuance of every area of the law.
