Girl last seen in Manchester in October 2019; police seek tips from public

Manchester police are seeking tips from the public about the disappearance of a girl not seen in more than two years.

Harmony Montgomery, 7, was last seen in a home in Manchester in October 2019, when she was 5, police said.

Police said they first learned Harmony went missing earlier this week. Chief Allen Aldenberg did not specify who reported the girl missing but said his department has been in touch with multiple family members and will continue to speak with them.

Aldenberg said police are not searching for any adult or vehicle in connection with the case. Investigators are focusing on the whereabouts of Harmony.

"No time is a good time for a child to go missing," Aldenberg said. "I'm begging the community. I don't care if you saw this young girl a year ago and you think it's irrelevant. Call us."

Aldenberg said at a news conference Friday his detectives are working to confirm where Harmony is from and where she went to school before her disappearance.

Harmony is estimated to be approximately 4 feet tall and 50 pounds. Investigators said she has blonde hair, blue eyes and should be wearing glasses.

"We need help," Aldenberg said. "This remains a very active investigation."

Kayla Montgomery, Stepmother of Slain Girl, Arrested After Missing Court Date

The stepmother of long-missing New Hampshire girl Harmony Montgomery, who is considered dead, was arrested Friday afternoon after missing a court date the day before, prosecutors said.

Kayla Montgomery was due in Hillsborough Superior Court at 10 a.m. for a hearing about charges she'd received stolen property, according to the court's docket, but an official with the state Justice Department confirmed that she did not appear. Prosecutors requested an arrest warrant for Kayla Montgomery and a judge approved it.

She was arrested Friday afternoon in Manchester and is expected to be held until a hearing next week.
Yep, dumb. She blows off court and yet is easily found and arrested, didn't exactly flee.

MANCHESTER, N.H. —
The mother of a Merrimack boy killed last year could be called to testify in the firearms trial of Adam Montgomery next month.

News 9 Investigates has learned that Danielle Dauphinais is on the witness list in the trial of the father of Harmony Montgomery, a girl who was reported missing and who police believe was killed. Adam Montgomery has not been charged in connection with her disappearance or death.

Dauphinais has been held at the Valley Street Jail since she was arrested a year ago and charged with murder in connection with the death of her son, Elijah Lewis. Adam and Kayla Montgomery are also being held in the jail on charges unrelated to Harmony's disappearance.

Patricia LaFrance, a former county attorney who is not involved in any of the cases, said it's likely Kayla Montgomery and Dauphinais were on the same cell block.

Dauphinais was arrested about a year ago in connection with her son's death. She was indicted in April and plans to plead not guilty. LaFrance said it's possible that her role as a witness in Adam Montgomery's trial indicates she's trying to get a deal.

"A defense attorney would not be doing their job if they were not trying to get some consideration for their client's cooperation," LaFrance said. "You see that a lot of times."

LaFrance said it's likely Harmony's stepmother, Kayla Montgomery, and Dauphinais were on the same cell block at times over the past year, but how prosecutors can use Dauphinais' testimony in a firearms trial for a man she is not connected to would be limited.

From the above article. I don't know how they think this as Kayla could ahve as easily talked about his having illegal firearms as much as she talked about anything he/they did. The part I wonder about is the hearsay evidence no matter what the subject matter. We see the jailhouse snitch thing quite often but it is hearsay in this case isn't it? It wasn't Adam Montgomery who was talking to her but Kayla. But it is Adam on trial. That makes it hearsay I would think... It isn't a direct conversation, there is a third person in between.

Some of the evidence prosecutors hoped to introduce in the firearms trial of the father of a missing Manchester girl can't be admitted, a judge has ruled.

Adam Montgomery is facing charges of felony theft, being a felon in possession of a weapon and being an armed career criminal. He is the father of Harmony Montgomery, a girl who was reported missing and is now presumed dead. He has not been charged in connection with her disappearance or death.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin in a little over two weeks.

The judge rejected a defense attempt to keep the contents of a cellphone out of the trial, with Adam Montgomery's lawyers arguing that it was seized illegally without a warrant. The judge noted it was reasonable to think that information related to the investigation was on the phone, and the phone could be easily destroyed or disposed of, so it could be seized before a warrant was obtained.

The defense also argued that police violated Adam Montgomery's rights by questioning him after he said, "I am not answering any questions." But the judge determined that the questions didn't constitute an interrogation.

But when a detective told Adam Montgomery, "I think you need to do the right thing," the judge ruled that crossed a line, and any statement Montgomery made after that won't be allowed.

The judge is allowing 21 minutes and 44 seconds of a taped interview Adam Montgomery had with police to be used. But when Adam Montgomery said in the interview, "No, I get what you're saying. I just got nothing else to say, man," that constituted his right to remain silent, and anything he said after that can't be used.

If convicted, Adam Montgomery could spend decades in prison.

Not understanding why when they keep yammering on, it can't be used. I do get it if they are still asking questions, but I've seen at times when the person just keeps on going after saying they know they have the right to remain silent. :gaah:

You can say I'm not talking anymore. Unless the police charge you, there is no compulsion to answer questions.

Adam Montgomery tried to get his wife to lie about his daughter's death, officials say

Adam Montgomery has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his daughter, Harmony, officials announced Monday.

The father of Harmony Montgomery, a New Hampshire girl missing since late 2019, tried to pressure his wife into lying to investigators about his dead daughter’s whereabouts, officials believe.

Adam Montgomery, 32, was charged Monday with murder in connection with Harmony’s death, which Manchester, New Hampshire, police suspect occurred in early Dec. 2017. In announcing that he would face a count of second-degree murder, New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella also said that Montgomery would be charged with witness tampering for a suspected attempt to pressure his wife, Kayla — Harmony’s stepmother — into concealing the girl’s death.

<snip>
According to charging information disclosed Monday by Formella and Manchester Police Chief Allen D. Aldenberg, investigators believe Adam Montgomery battered his daughter with a closed fist around Dec. 7, 2019, and tried in the ensuing months to cover up her death.

In addition to the charges of murder and witness tampering, he is also accused of falsifying evidence by altering, destroying, concealing or removing Harmony’s body. Montgomery is due in Hillsborough County Superior Court in Manchester on Tuesday.

The parents of Harmony Montgomery’s younger brother, Jamison Miller, have spoken out after New Hampshire Police arrested Harmony’s father, Adam Montgomery, on Monday and charged him with killing her.

“DCF gave a child to a murderer,” Johnathon Bobbitt-Miller, one of Jamison’s adoptive fathers, said in a tweet.

Bobbitt-Miller, who said he and his husband Blair Miller tried to adopt Harmony, continued, “You are equally responsible Massachusetts and DCF. She should have been in a safe home with her brother! You failed them both, and Blair Miller and I will fight so this never happens to another child again. Harmony, you mattered, even though you were failed by everyone.”

And I pray they do and I believe they will. This is another one imo they are trying to shove under the rug. IF efforts are kept up and people don't go silent months or a year from now will come out a report of what the place can do to improve, etc. and not another thing will happen to them or they will let go some lower level employee but no one from top tier. DCF I mean of course. LE seems to have done a stellar job.

This family WANTED her with her brother. So disgusting.

I believe she went through he77.

Kayla imo has been helping and enough to corroborate evidence and maybe pointed them where to look for evidence.

MAYBE she will be found as this is the only card DADDY DEAREST has to play now. I wish it was first degree charges but there are enough other charges that hopefully he never sees the light of day.
