Girl last seen in Manchester in October 2019; police seek tips from public

Manchester police are seeking tips from the public about the disappearance of a girl not seen in more than two years.

Harmony Montgomery, 7, was last seen in a home in Manchester in October 2019, when she was 5, police said.

Police said they first learned Harmony went missing earlier this week. Chief Allen Aldenberg did not specify who reported the girl missing but said his department has been in touch with multiple family members and will continue to speak with them.

Aldenberg said police are not searching for any adult or vehicle in connection with the case. Investigators are focusing on the whereabouts of Harmony.

"No time is a good time for a child to go missing," Aldenberg said. "I'm begging the community. I don't care if you saw this young girl a year ago and you think it's irrelevant. Call us."

Aldenberg said at a news conference Friday his detectives are working to confirm where Harmony is from and where she went to school before her disappearance.

Harmony is estimated to be approximately 4 feet tall and 50 pounds. Investigators said she has blonde hair, blue eyes and should be wearing glasses.

"We need help," Aldenberg said. "This remains a very active investigation."

Harmony Montgomery’s Dad Seeks Delay in Trial

An attorney for a New Hampshire father charged with killing his 5-year-old daughter in 2019 has asked for a delay in the trial, currently scheduled to begin on November 20.

In a motion filed Wednesday, public defender Caroline Smith said that her co-counsel on the case had taken “a non-lawyer job with the Public Defender” and could not continue with the case. Additionally, Smith said, she was handling another homicide for most of October and would need extra time to bring on a new co-counsel and get them up to speed on the case.

Montgomery is willing to waive his right to a speedy trial on the matter, the motion said. Prosecutors have requested an immediate hearing.

So her co counsel is working in the same office yet but in a non lawyer job. What kind? Administrative? I mean no lawyer is going to become the janitor. Then why can't they let him finish this IMPENDING case if he is working in the SAME OFFICE OF THE PUBLIC DEFENDER. I don't see much more important that he would be needed urgently for if not acting as an attorney in an impending murder trial. Sounds kind of convenient to me with no loss of benefits or stature. He'll probably be back to work shortly after in this job... Maybe not, maybe it is true and higher pay or something but they still could have him finish this out and they still need someone TO FINISH IT OUT so that seems unwise other than to get a delay... It is the defense after all... Delay is the name of their game.

I think we should go into every active case and put in a post that the defendant is requesting a delay.

OH FFS!!! I am so tired of this s**t!!!

I think we should go into every active case and put in a post that the defendant is requesting a delay.
Is that directed at me? As I have stated every intent to do so? And is it meant to be humorous or snide?

If it is, I have a lot to say about it and let's start with victims' families being on a roller coaster awaiting justice for years on end if not in some cases a decade.

Anyone who owned or operated a business like the courts are run would have run it into the ground, into bankruptcy and been fired for a lousy job if running as the courts do and allowing this b.s. It's as much about excuses and incompetency and failure to do a job than it is truly needing time if they did their job.

Here you have a co counsel taking a different job in the same agency that leaves her in the lurch allegedly. Maybe he can give up part of his lunch hour to still help out and walk down the hall for a bit. Or MAYBE the agency can figure out a solution since the same agency is still his employer, you know, just so the wheels of justice in a child's horrendous murder don't derail the trial? Of course that won't happen.

If you think all delays are to be expected and it's just a ho hum thing then okay. One party delaying something throws off and affects a TON of things. The court's calendar, the other side's calendar, let's not even consider victims' families for goodness sakes and scheduling experts? We saw that ourselves. They need to be available and have to coordinate as does the court and when something on the books when they were gets rescheduled, there that goes, one might be and two more can't for a new date, etc. and just trying to reschedule it all to work for all is a nightmare in itself.

They are stopping a trial that was scheduled to start in less than two months! Guaranteed MUCH has been already set in place and it took a LOT do do it. TRIAL. Not a hearing.

And that's just this case. In most the excuses don't even have to have a reason to speak of. It's just like oh Johnny's dog ate my homework so I'm calling in sick. Okay. Delay granted :gavel:

I don't think it's wrong either to expect our public servants to do their job and find a way to operate out system in a way that works. He77 I k now that's asking too much. How about just a doctor's excuse for missing work and not being able to do it to get a delay?

It is way out of hand and only gets worse and should be called out. Imo.

And for the record, I call out prosecutors who do it too or agree to it. Funny you'd think one shouldn't come down on the system since you think most are wrongly convicted in it based on a handful out of millions. It makes no sense to me then why you'd defend such from any party or the way it is run or should we say not run as the wheels of justice grind to a halt ALL of the time or at least are delayeddddd.

I think you need to go have a bowl of your mushroom soup concoction. :bigtongue:

It was nothing against you. It's just that it seems that all the trials I follow here have the defendant asking for delays. It's more annoying than you are.

Harmony Montgomery murder trial delayed for Adam Montgomery

The murder trial for Adam Montgomery, the New Hampshire father accused of killing his daughter, Harmony, has been delayed.

Montgomery was supposed to go on trial in November, but now the trial won't start until February.

In a recent court filing, Montgomery said one of his public defenders recently got a new job, and he is now seeking a replacement. After a lengthy discussion with sides behind closed doors, the judge decided to grant Montgomery's request. The prosecutor did not object.

“The defendant has the ability to have counsel, obviously should have counsel going forward. It's really just a scheduling matter between him and his attorneys and the court schedule. There's really not much for the state to be able to do or say,” said Senior Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati.

Jury selection in Montgomery's trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 6.

Adam Montgomery goes on trial in February on charges that he murdered his 5-year-old daughter and he’s trying to prevent his six felony weapons convictions from being brought up as evidence in court.

The 33-year-old New Hampshire man faces a second-degree murder charge in the 2019 death of his daughter Harmony, along with charges of abuse of a corpse, falsification of evidence, and witness tampering, the Union Leader reported.

Montgomery denies killing Harmony.

He said in court that he loved her unconditionally, just before being sentenced in August to 30 years on the weapons charges.

Montgomery’s public defenders filed a motion last week seeking to block evidence of “assaults or assaultive behavior” against Harmony, other than the conduct on or about Dec. 7, 2019, which his estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, alleges led to Harmony’s death.

Prosecutors claim he beat Harmony to death in a fit of rage after she had a “bathroom accident,” and hid her battered body for nearly two years before she was finally reported missing in November 2021.

The girl’s remains have never been found despite massive searches as recently as April.

Kayla Montgomery told police her estranged husband repeatedly punched the girl in the face after she soiled the car the family had been living in.

“I think I really hurt her this time. I think I did something,” she said the accused killer told her.

The mom told the Daily Beast last year that cops had ignored her warnings about her violent ex.”

So many people failed this child it's outrageous and maddening.

I hope he rots.

I don't care what the rule or law is but if there is evidence of other assaults on Harmony as it says here, imo it relates and it darned well SHOULD be allowed into the trial. It has BETTER be and there BETTER be law to support it so NO APPEAL on that decision.

MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Trial preparations are underway for Adam Montgomery, the Manchester man accused of murdering his daughter, Harmony, in 2019.

Jury selection is set for February in the case that started two years ago Wednesday with a call from the Division of Children, Youth and Families to the Manchester Police Department saying Harmony could not be located.

The case brought a department and a community together with a shared hope of bringing Harmony home.

Police Chief Allen Aldenberg has been an officer for 25 years. He said he has seen a lot of death and violence, but this case is the one that will stay with him long after he leaves the job that he loves.

"It will forever remain with me," he said.

In many ways, Aldenberg is the face of the Harmony Montgomery case, which the public first learned about in a New Year's Eve press conference. Aldenberg pleaded for anyone with any information to come forward.

A flurry of media from around the world picked up the story. Harmony's image was plastered everywhere: on billboards, magazines and on TV. To this day, she is still missing.

"I still firmly believe that there's people out there that know more," Aldenberg said.

The tipline is still open at 603-203-6060. Aldenberg said a tip recently came in via text.

"Nothing's too small. Nothing is too big," he said. "Again, all with the hopes of maybe we bring this little girl home."

Investigators said they know Harmony is dead. They said they know who did it.

But what haunts the department is not recovering her body.

"It would be a great day, but it would be a sad day, because it's never going to have a happy ending," Aldenberg said.

The chief said that after the trial is over, he hopes for reflection and accountability.

"I look forward to the day where some other agencies do that inward reflection," he said. "Are we doing everything we can to make sure this doesn't happen again?"

Dozens of witnesses will be called in Adam Montgomery's murder trial. The state's star witness is Kayla Montgomery, his estranged wife, who is in prison on perjury convictions.

Kayla Montgomery provided investigators with a timeline and the gruesome details of what Adam Montgomery allegedly did with Harmony's body.

Yeah and something needs to be done about it but never is. Good for him for calling it out.

Praying for justice and praying just as hard she is found one day.

New tip line announced in Harmony Montgomery case

Investigators continue to search for Harmony Montgomery, a missing 5-year-old girl from New Hampshire who is presumed dead, and on Friday announced an updated tip line for anyone looking to offer information on the case.

There is a reward available for anyone with information that leads to Harmony's whereabouts.

Harmony Montgomery tip line: 603-932-8997

It isn't although it has been awhile since i've read such details and I don;t remember the part about him bending and doing whatever to her to make room for the lime. All else of his disgusting acts yeah, heard before. The cooler I think he even had at his folks in the halllway or something when staying there or at a holiday or some such.

It is clearly a brand new article based on recent activity in the case but most of the facts in it were seen before, not sure if in detail in this thread but if not, the for sure are in a link or I wouldn't know of them.

There is a lot against him imo and I hope he goes down for good.

Poor child abused not only in life but abused for long after in death too.

That is absolutely sickening.
It is. He's disgusting and evil. Yet he said at his firearms charges conviction and sentencing how he loved, protected and adored his daughter (paraphrasing) and did not kill her.

He did none of these things per him. And even dead she was just extra benefits to Kayla Montgomery and him. She is LUCKY she cut a deal as she deserves more than she got too but she'd better come THROUGH in this murder trial.

This child was sooooooo failed. He abused her in life and after death. SICKENING POS.

Harmony Montgomery: Final pretrial hearing for New Hampshire father accused of killing 5-year-old daughter

A pretrial hearing took place for Adam Montgomery, the man accused of killing his 5-year-old daughter Harmony in 2019.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Montgomery’s defense attorneys asked the court to separate his assault charge from the homicide charge, meaning he would have two trials instead of one, WTXF-TV in Boston reported.

Prosecutors in the case agreed that Montgomery can do so given that his trial has not started. If the cases are separated, there would be two different juries, with the assault trial taking less than a week and the homicide trial lasting nearly 3 1/2 weeks.

The trial on both charges are scheduled for Feb. 6. WMUR-TV in New Hampshire reported that Adam Montgomery’s attorneys requested to have the charges severed after the legal team said they received new information.

Documents provide new details of state's interactions with Harmony Montgomery's family

Documents filed by Adam Montgomery's defense team are providing more details on the last month of his daughter Harmony's life.

Adam Montgomery is set to go on trial next month on assault and second-degree murder charges connected to the 5-year-old girl's death.

In a motion filed this week, the defense provided a report from the Division of Children, Youth and Families that details visits to the family's Gilford Street home during that time.

The visits took place in July, August and September of 2019. The case worker noted each time that there were no visible concerns.

The defense also provided documents from an urgent care visit in June 2019. The doctor described Harmony as a "well-appearing child, appropriate for her age, with no acute distress."

The DCYF documents also say that Adam Montgomery's uncle offered Kayla Montgomery $500 to have Harmony live with relatives in Florida. According to the documents, Kayla Montgomery told him, "Absolutely not."

Jury selection in the trial of Adam Montgomery is scheduled for Feb. 6.
