Authorities search for Missouri doctor who has been missing more than a week​

Authorities in a small Missouri town are searching for an emergency room physician a week-and-a-half after his mysterious disappearance.

Dr. John Forsyth, 49, was last heard from May 21. Police said he was reported missing when he failed to show up for work that day at Mercy Hospital in Cassville, a town of 3,100 residents deep in the Missouri Ozarks.

Forsyth’s black Infiniti was found in a remote area near an aquatic park in Cassville. The car was unlocked with his wallet, two phones and a laptop inside.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol, have joined in the search using people, dogs and drones. Forsyth’s family set up a Facebook page seeking information.

Richard Forsyth said his brother had been at the Cassville hospital for about 15 years. He described John Forsyth as a doting father who became engaged to his girlfriend just a couple of days before he disappeared.

Hmm. I thought the child went missing from a hospital or near one or some such. I guess I have something all wrong on that and will have to find time to go look if I can as to why I think that.

From the park and I believe it was from the walking trails, but I might have just assumed that part since they were mentioning all the trails back there and police assumed at first that JF parked there to walk one of them, but I'm pretty sure it was the park the kid went missing from.

I have little doubt he met somebody in the park and something went south from there. What that is, I have absolutely no idea, but that's what I am leaning towards. I think it was supposed to just be a quick meet up and then....??? Too many scenarios seem possible after that and for what reason the meet up might have been for. Still far from stuck on that idea though. It very well could have happened at his rv and then somebody took his car there. If that's the case, then somebody that the brother seemed to believe was him.

Well I don't know about that but the RV wasn't parked in the hospital parking lot, it was in another lot relatively close although still a certain distance away, in fact, I've wondered whether he walked or drove back and forth (not that it would make any difference, just mildly curious for no particular reason. lol!) but anyway, I don't know whether there's video in the vicinity of the RV....I'd doubt there is, though, because it doesn't sound to me like it's video that's placed him there.

I believe that building it was parked at used to be one of the clinics the hospital used. It was still hospital property, but yes, off of any main parking area. It would only be a slight jog over. It's nothing like a hospital property in a large city, but easily out of the scope of any cameras.

You know, now that the video of him allegedly walking away from his own car alone is NOT a fact and hasn't even been seen by us, it changes everything. He could have well left with someone from his motorhome area even, etc. Or it may not even have been him at all with his car.

I am intensely disliking Richard right now with his bunches of falsehoods with nothing to back up a single thing he has said.

The story of the supposed previous kidnapping included being held on a bridge at gunpoint and threatened. Possibly he didn't hold up his end of whatever pleading he did to get out of the jam the first time...or it never happened...or the person that told the brother this did it....or the brother made up the story ...or..............so many possibilities!

I don't think they got him to go to the lake. If this is in fact a murder, I think he was taken to the lake. He very well might have gotten in a vehicle with them willingly though. I think whatever happened went south after he met up with somebody after parking his car IF it was actually him parking the car.

Yeah it is frustrating. I too have thought of him buying time the first time with the kidnapping but he failed to come through and he'd had his last warning and "they" killed him. It would also explain him feeling he might not live long, he had nowhere to turn to get money or whatever it was he "owed" them.

So many possibilities is right but they mostly all stem or come up from the brother...But maybe he just does what we are doing, what could it be, what could it be...

Most cases come down to something more logical and simple and someone known to them. I think my scenario above is pretty simple but it lacks the "who". I guess he also as we have tended to think could have met someone in his car and got in theirs but we based that on there being video of him walking away from his car which now seems to be up in the air. It now would seem to be just as possible he left with someone from the hospital/motorhome area...

It "feels" like a guy not a woman. One shot right, no signs of a fight or do we even know that that's a fact? I can't recall, did it come from LE or Richard agani? The finding of his body must have come from LE... Are there any reporters there digging into this??

Oh, ok. Well, the reason I'd think "likely local" is because I can't imagine that anyone who didn't know that place would meet there. It just doesn't strike me as a place where anyone would choose to meet. To me, it's actually a conspicuous and rather risky location given that if discovered, they'd have no business being there.

Dr. John Forsyth’s family shared his final resting place.

Dr. John Forsyth’s family has been searching for answers since May when he was found shot in the head 45 minutes from the last place he was seen in Cassville, Missouri. Details of the case have baffled investigators, and with more questions answered, more questions are brought to the surface.

In an Instagram post, Forsyth’s mom, Dixie Forsyth, shared photos of a recent visit to his gravesite, writing, “211 days he has been gone. No answers, no leads. The investigators don’t communicate with us anymore.”

In the post, she continues:

“We went to his grave today to honor him with some flowers. It is extremely difficult to visit, but it’s important for us to do as part of the grieving process. If you or anyone you know has gone through something similar, I hope you know that you are not alone. I understand your pain. I understand your hurt. Visiting him is another reminder to me that everyone around us is precious. Everyone deserves love, forgiveness, and compassion. Everyone is valuable. Everyone matters.”

The gravestone features Forsyth’s full name along with the day he was born and the day he disappeared, along with the quote, “I’m more alive now than ever.”

Richard Forsyth, John’s brother, exclusively tells KY3, “Our family believes in life after death, and so we have hope that death is not the end. We are also comforted he is able to rest in a private family cemetery. It feels like he is with our other family who have passed on.”

The gravestone also shows a sphere with arrows pointing in different directions. Some point to truth and God, others to false and Satan. Richard says this was something John drew for him on a napkin in their last conversations “days before he was killed.”

“I have the original framed in my office,” Richard explains. “This is a drawing of subatomic particles and his interpretation of where life comes from and where we go after death. This is a graphic representation of a three-hour conversation that was really one of many conversations on the topic between us.”

“I suppose, to summarize, it represents his integration of science and faith,” Richard adds. “It was of vital importance to him in the days before he was murdered.”

Dr. Forsyth was a physician in Cassville, a father, and a crypto millionaire.

It was in a lot behind the hospital on property that once housed a clinic (I think that's what it was, if not, it was affiliated with the hospital)
