JOSHUA "JJ" VALLOW, TYLEE RYAN, TAMMY DAYBELL, & CHARLES VALLOW: State of Idaho/Arizona vs. Lori & Chad Daybell *GUILTY*

Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

I ran into Linda's Dateline show last night and hoped to fit in watching it but started and got so tired, I couldn't keep my eyes open. I hope to get to see it sometime this weekend or maybe in a few minutes here and there today.

All know I am no defense fan in cases, quite the opposite, but these specials and shows and the documents now, I do have to say how they will ever find an impartial uninformed jury in this case is definitely a question and it will be I imagine an uphill battle and not an easy task.

Hey! Their god will come and save them, no worries.

Actually, sometimes I think it is divine intervention that cases like this don’t have a “fair” defense. It’s indefensible!

I thought she already got immunity. I’m pretty sure she did. There’s so much coming at us in this case though, I could be wrong.
Well I think I heard that too but I can't say for sure it's true so I didn't want to state it as fact plus I don't think it is known immunity for what, or for all, or for just some things, any kind of deal, etc... I guess for that reason, the vagueness of the specifics, I don't consider it all known, at least the details.

Their "god" is late, I wonder how that strikes them... World was to end wasn't it a year ago July or something...?

I agree, I am not unhappy to see very evil defendants not having a lot of options as to what defense strategy they can use and things like that either... They did it to themselves... Of course I mean in cases where the guilt is pretty darned clear like this one and multiple murders, etc... They weren't fair to their victims so oh well... Hang 'em HIgh!

The “introductory conversation” was meant to be a brief opportunity for both parties to officially meet, said Shiflet’s attorney Garrett Smith.

“We had a similar one with my [other] client Zulema Pastenes [Alex Cox’s widow], but that had more to do with her use immunity agreement,” Smith told the court.

Thank you @RoundPeg you are a Godsend.

Just know when I mention something or ask I am not expecting anyone to go find the answer for me but I do appreciate that you do!! I generally just wonder if anyone knows off the top of their head to save all of us from looking back for it. This particular case is so convoluted and went on so long remembering all the facts, info, dates, deaths, etc. is hard.

So THANK YOU FOR GETTING THIS INFO. It does ring a bell now the term "use immunity"... :hugs:

With this new info dump, do you all think Alex would have been incompetent or competent? I know we aren't psychiatrists here but he was about as bad as Lori in following Chad. Genetics much? What happened to these people?
My personal opinion is that Alex was heavily influenced by Lori. If he would have distanced himself like one of Lori's other siblings (Adam) then he may have taken a different life path. Without a 'fall guy' would Lori & Chad have even made it this far? My thoughts only.

I wonder what happened because it has also been said that Alex and Lori were not close until more recent years the way I recall or at least not like this where he was a part of everything in her life. I forget who said that but someone who would know and I even think it was more than one...

I imagine when marriages were working she probably was not around him so much and for that matter, maybe until this cult thing happened with Chad... We know he tried to "off" Joe but maybe only in extreme situations did Lori turn to him and Alex was the loyal brother in that case because of what she claimed he was doing to the kids... Or perhaps around that time/year was when their closeness started...

He certainly seemed to be under her influence once they were spending more time together though... Who was it who said,Alex liked Lori's beliefs because it made all of his sins okay (like the women he went out of country for and other things prohibited by the standard Mormon religion)... And yet he may have been seeing something by the end... There was that conversation with Melanie by Alex where it was said Lori and Chad threw Melanie G under the bus (when they claimed the kids were with her)...

All to the best of my recollection...

Wow, it just never ends.

I don't remember offhand a Nissan Rogue... They don't say if they determined whose blood was in the back seat, just mention DNA from Alex in the Jeep.

So they likely pawned off and hid a car with likely evidence of something with Colby, unbeknownst to him. I find it doubtful it was out of the goodness of their hearts.

I am curious about the blood, I guess it could have come back negative on further testing or they didn't match it OR they did and we just don't know--blood in the Rogue I mean... My first thought is Tylee or JJ was transported in it...

I think I read it all but might have missed something as I'm only on my first cup of coffee :)

There are too many characters to follow here. I've been concentrating on the Ahmaud Arbery case. Maybe when this starts getting more attention I can get a better understanding.
It’s definitely a case where you have to spend a lot of time figuring things out. I was trying to explain it to a coworker just yesterday and even trying to explain it is difficult.

Even early on (and it has only gotten worse) reporters had to make charts I think even for themselves of just the players and connections and victims... That's without even trying to keep details, dates, locations, attempts and who was where when straight.

Colby is Lori's adult son. You probably know that but in case someone doesn't. There is little doubt what would probably have happened to him (imo) if he was a minor and still living at home when Joshua and Tylee went "missing".

Oh and for anyone who didn't know this, he and his wife are having a second baby, another little girl. I believe they recently just moved back to Arizona from I think Utah to be nearer to his wife's famly and more support. Not rumor, they have a channel, it comes from them. I don't catch it much but do sometimes.

I tell my daughters and mother about some cases I have followed/follow at times and I have not even attempted much with this one, way too convoluted if they haven't known much about it before now... And believe it or not for how big and well known this is, they don't know much about it at all. I just tell mention the "cult couple case" and wave my hand like don't ask, too hard to fill you in... I guess if one wanted people to get a gist of it, the Dateline, etc. kind of shows would give them an overall picture but I'd have them start with one of the first, like the one with Larry and Kay, etc.

The Lifetime movie from all I've heard is NOT one I'd recommend. They got a lot of facts wrong people say and I think took a lot of liberties... Not sure the reason but maybe we need to keep in mind Lifetime is largely fictional movies or "based on" a true story. It seems to me though this was hinted to be more of a documentary or maybe people just assumed it would be since it is a true CASE and most who know the case were not impressed. Haven't watched it myself and don't ever plan to based on the opinions of some I trust.
