JOSHUA "JJ" VALLOW, TYLEE RYAN, TAMMY DAYBELL, & CHARLES VALLOW: State of Idaho/Arizona vs. Lori & Chad Daybell *GUILTY*

1580704661510.png

Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Lori tried to be excused from court for the rest of the day and the judge wouldn't allow it. (The info below goes from newest to oldest events, so read from the bottom up).

1:59 p.m. Jury is brought in. Everyone is asked to stand. Lori stands and John Thomas holds on to her arm.

1:57 p.m. Lori has no reaction to the judge’s decision.

1:56 p.m. Boyce says the court has authority to override the request of defendant to voluntarily excuse herself from certain portions of the trial where she has been here for the first day and a half of the trial. Boyce says her presence can and should be required so the judge denies the request and orders that Lori cannot leave.

1:54 p.m. Boyce says Idaho law allows some defendants to waive their right to be present during part of their trial but there is a process if someone wants to be voluntarily absent. Boyce discussing what authority the court has to allow someone to miss part of the trial.

1:51 p.m. Boyce cites Idaho Criminal Rule 43 and says presence is required at a defendant’s trial in every stage of the trial but part of the law says a defendant can waive their right to to be present under certain circumstances.

1:51 p.m. Blake says if Lori is allowed to leave, the state would be allowed to comment to the jury during closing arguments that she was not present during this portion of the trial.

1:49 p.m. Lindsey Blake argues it’s important to have the defendant present and the state of Idaho deserves to have her here. “This isn’t the first time the defendant has been uncooperative with this court.”

1:48 p.m. Archibald says Lori wishes to waive her right to not be present for the remainder fo the afternoon. He says it was emotional this morning and Lori has fragile mental health.

As far as I know, she never even set foot on the campus.

I have to believe that Lori really did think she was leaving this earth, can't remember the date but I think it was supposed to be in June of 2020? How else would it work that no one would wonder what happened to the kids!
I don't know whether I buy she believed it or not. I think the two of them are cons as much as anything...

The date was July I'm pretty sure and some odd date in July like July 23 or some such. If anyone has time and looks back on here, we likely all joked about it on the day of and leading up to and after that the world is still here as are all of us... And that they were wrong.

Well both kids' fathers were dead so they couldn't inquire about the kids...Kay and Larry didn't know where Lori or the kids were... Both Mels seemed to really care less and/or likely knew (I'm not convinced they didn't...)... And knowing Lori and Chad if anyone became a problem or didn't believe her stories as to where the kids were, she'd probably just kill them off too...

I suspect they'd have lived and stayed in Hawaii quite honestly and just tell like her family that the kids are having a great time living there... I don't know how they were going to prepare the `144K in Rexburg when it seemed they always ran for Hawaii instead to live, eat and play and spend Tammy's life insurance.

It was this case that the jury complained because I saw that too and don't follow the Staunch case. Apparently it was the reporters keyboards. They should be in the overflow really, so they cannot be heard.
I think the overflow rooms were mainly so no one could see the jurors during jury selection although they probably could still use it. I think anyone who has a keyboard that can be heard that well in the recordings should probably be put in back or yes in another room with a feed.

So they knew the jeep had been used in the shooting attempt on Brandon but did nothing about it? They seized the jeep on 4 Nov 2019.

They got a search warrant for the apartments of Lori, Melanie and Alex and executed the searches on 27 Nov 2019. They found the storage locker receipt and got a search warrant for that too on the next day, the 28th.
I don't now that they had any proof it was that Jeep did they? Other than Brandon's say so? Of course, the argument also is that anyone could have been driving it or in it as a passenger as well..

So Kay didn't go because they were showing the photos of the kids? We were advised in ours when it was to be and allowed time to leave the courtroom if we didn't wish to see. I struggled to make up my mind as I did not want to miss one minute of the trial and so when one sister of mine said she was going to stay, I stayed and simply asked her to tell me when the photos were done and down. I then kept my head down and never looked at them but did hear the testimony which wasn't pleasant either but was by the coroner and much of it I already knew. Still hard but I don't have those images burned in my head at least; I have enough that are hard enough that stick with me.

Can't blame her for not wanting to see what these bodies looked like on finding and recovering them.

She won't show any emotion for dead zombies. As far as she was concerned they were no longer children. And she managed to convince Chad and Alex of that as well. I hope she testifies and she gets asked about this.
Agree other than I don't think she convinced Chad of anything. Nor had to. The way I recall it, he made the list of who was dark and light and one or two started one way and then turned dark. One of the kids did if I recall... So then the rating was changed...

She's a piece of cake. So many marriages, so many names to choose from to try and confuse people....

9:30 a.m. Hermosillo now being shown images of the contract Lori signed with the storage unit company. Lori signed her name as Lori Ryan.
Different names, different towns, different cities, different states...

9:35 a.m. First image shows items in a garage that were taken out of a tub. There is a Ghilli (camouflage) suit laid out on the ground. Police also found gun magazines and silencers to put on the end of a gun to keep it quiet when it’s fired.
9:39 a.m. Next image shows two silencers found inside the garage. Next image shows knives that were found near the rifles. Next image shows a handgun found in a tub in the garage. Next image is a Halloween mask that was found on top of a plastic Walmart bag. Inside the bag was rope and duct tape. Next image shows Alex Cox’s active passport found inside the garage.

9:38 a.m. Second image shows clothing laid out on the ground. Third image shows several rounds of ammunition that was discovered in a tub. “A lot of ammunition in that specific tub,” Hermosillo says. Fourth image shows a rifle found in the garage and the barrel is threaded for a silencer. Fifth image shows the same rifle laid down on the table at the police department. Another rifle was inside of the same bag.

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't know about all this ammo and the silencers. Did anyone else?
I don't think so. Whose garage? Alex's? Lori's? Chad's?

Do we have anything they can match to ammo or weapons or knives? Probably not considering the condition of the kid's bodies. Charles we know was shot and that was "admitted" to. Think about that one for a second, why or how could they be sure that would fly as self defense...? I mean Alex WENT to his room to retrieve a gun, that isn't self defense in any stretch of the imagination and then came back and shot Charles. He could have walked out. That was their story anyhow, not that I believe it, but why would they feel so sure it would fly? Know any cops...?

12:52 p.m. Lori has left the courtroom with her attorneys to have a discussion in a private hallway.

12:50 p.m. Court was about to resume but John Thomas asked for some time to visit with Lori. Lori appeared visibly upset. Court is in recess again.
1:10 p.m. Personal observation: Lori Daybell appeared upset this afternoon. I’ve seen her in multiple court hearings, in Hawaii, face-to-face at the Rexburg Airport — I’ve never seen upset/sad before today.

I guess she was able to drum up some emotion in an almost two hour time span.
You have to be kidding me. And of course because of NO cameras we don't get to see it to determine if it was one bit believable or see what she looks like upset. All we have seen in her over the years is sneering, laughing, flirting, and stony silence when in Hawaii with Nate asking where the kids are.

She knows every drug and poison etc. Maybe she had her attorneys had her chop onions in a small space.

Was she actually crying or just visibly upset? And what had been said prior to her becoming upset?

I too think she is crying for herself as she realises she is in trouble and may not get off this charge.
Kind of hard to believe she ever really thought she would. They have so much discovery she had to know a lot of what they had. The news and the specials all along and far more.

I think it more likely she know she needs to conjure some emotion. I don't think much of this can be a surprise to her. She knew their bodies were found, knew what search warrants were executed, etc., etc.

Well are we surprised... I'm not as to her pulling some stunt and it has just started and likely won't be the last. Her attorney mentioning her fragile mental health, oh here we go again... She wants a speedy trial right...? But watch for an effort to have another trip to the hospital and mental eval and stabilizing...

As for what she's upset over? I don't know... Maybe her pet mouse died. Perhaps she heard Chad has a boyfriend. Perhaps she found out they got rid of the McRib at McDonald's....
