JOSHUA "JJ" VALLOW, TYLEE RYAN, TAMMY DAYBELL, & CHARLES VALLOW: State of Idaho/Arizona vs. Lori & Chad Daybell *GUILTY*

1580704661510.png

Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Written timeline of events

Here's all the details regarding Brandon's shooting. The jeep had Texas licence plates and was caught on camera driving from Rexburg.

I do recall the TX plates now but did wonder if they had any surveillance cam footage, etc. so that answers that.

So now we still have the fact can they prove who was in it, who shot, etc.?

Well right as we are talking of this, I hit the point of Brandon's testimony where he is talking of this or about to and defense objects. Prosecution does say it is relevant as it is part of what got LE looking at other things, etc.

I am saying though as far as charging for this attempt on Brandon's life, there haven't been charges and I do think it is because it just isn't strong enough. However, his stating who he thought it was, getting it investigated, etc. was one of the balls rolling or that started looks at other things...
Read the article I just posted, when you have time. The evidence it was Tylee's jeep and Cox is all in there. The jeep they recovered from Rexburg had Cox DNA and gunshot residue in it. Cox died only two weeks after those Rexburg search warrants were executed before he could be charged with anything. He had also got married and changed his surname to his wife's name. Very convenient.

I'll take your word for it. Interesting.

They never charged Alex though, nor Lori, Charles, Chad or Mel P. with this, etc. Right? In fact, if they tried to tie it in as part of the conspiracy as i think they did with putting Brandon up and covering this in his testimony, I'd almost wonder at it being something that should have been allowed.... I'm all for it, don't get me wrong, the more towards guilt of these people, the better but in a way too it is a double edged sword as they probably already plan on blaming Alex (Chad and Lori) and if this was Alex shooting at Brandon, well that lends towards that. However, it also does and can lend towards conspiracy showing all various partners had attempts on their lives, benefiting all...

So I didn't get through it all last night and just now finished listening to Brandon's testimony. Towards the final I don't know, five minutes or so, they refer to a pic of Tylee and her Instagram. Defense objected. It went on a bit, not long with Brandon saying he was friends with her on Instagram and whether picture was photoshopped, etc. I listened to it a couple of times and fail to see what the point of it was. Of course we can't see pictures or the trial (irritating) so maybe it was obvious if there. Or it could be a big nothing. Does anyone know the relevance of it or what it had to do with, if anything at all?

I have always thought in my mind that they didn't charge anyone because Alex is dead and they had bigger fish to fry with Chad and Lori.

It may have been the last pic of her taken at Yellowstone in front of the hot springs. She was holding JJ in her arms so it would be the last pic of them together.

Charles got the vehicle when he lived in Houston, so that's why it had Texas plates. Brandon would have known that - he was married to Lori's niece and his sons played with JJ.
Yes, but not everyone pays close attention to others' vehicles. I'm one of them. Ask me what most of my friends drive and you might be surprised at how little I know about them.

Alex and Zulema went off to Vegas to get married - after the Rexburg warrants were served. Alex changed his surname to Pastenes (Zulema's surname) and they went back to Arizona, I think, where he died shortly afterwards. So he was hiding out IMO. He heard about Tammy's exhumation on the 11th December and died on the 12 December.

Brandon and Melanie were good friends with Charles and Lori. Melanie was Lori"s niece, more like a daughter really ever since her mother (Lori's sister) died when she was young. The families knew each other very well so he recognised the vehicle IIRC.

If you read the article I posted there is more info in it linking Chad's calls to Alex at the time he is driving down in the jeep from Rexburg to Chandler (was it?) and back again. They seized the jeep in November and would have been needing the forensics to come back to confirm the driver and the gunshot residue also. I guess it is possible that evidence is still to come out in this trial to tie it back to Chad and Lori. I mean he surely did not just take it on himself to kill Brandon? I have a feeling that it was Alex who also drove Melanie to Brandon's parents properties when the police had to be called due to Melanie's trespassing. She was arrested and charged IIRC.

Melani married Ian Pawlowski in Vegas the same weekend as Alex married Zulema. This is an article where Melani talks about her uncle Alex.

This is an article about Alec and Zulema"s wedding.

I don't, no.
This is from the article about Cox I linked upthread.

In the 48 hours leading up to the shooting, on Sept. 20, 2019, Lori Daybell made a search tied to her Gmail account. On that same day, Cox visited Lori Daybell's apartment and received a phone call from a burner phone belonging to Chad Daybell, according to the documents.

About 37 hours before the attempted shooting, a green Jeep Wrangler registered to Charles Vallow, Lori Daybell's husband killed by Cox in July 2019, was spotted, presumably by a license plate reader, driving southbound on Interstate 15 near Blackfoot. DNA evidence points to Cox driving the Jeep.

After about 11 hours of driving, the Jeep was spotted again westbound on Interstate 40 near Holbrook, Arizona, which is about three hours northeast of Gilbert. Twice that morning, Cox and Chad Daybell made calls between their burner phones, according to police reports.

Thirteen hours before the shooting, Cox's Gmail account show he searched Boudreaux's new rental address, which Pawloski and a few others knew. More communications took place between Chad Daybell and Cox's burner phones around this time, according to police.

Eyewitness accounts confirmed a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler with a Texas license plate, dark tinted windows and no wheel affixed to the back was parked idling on the wrong side of the street immediately west of Brandon's address.

–Police report

On Oct. 2, 2019, Cox's phone searched for directions to Boudreaux's address shortly after 7 a.m. Cox then drove to the address in the Jeep and stayed outside of Boudreaux's home until 9:17 a.m. Police reports show during that time, Chad Daybell and Cox communicated multiple times using their burner phones. Cox also called and texted Lori Daybell's personal cell phone while posted outside of Boudreaux's home, according to the report.

"Eyewitness accounts confirmed a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler with a Texas license plate, dark tinted windows and no wheel affixed to the back was parked idling on the wrong side of the street immediately west of Brandon's address," the police report reads.

Boudreaux told investigators he left the house around 7:25 a.m. with his four children, and when he returned around 9:14 a.m., he saw the back window of the Jeep open up. Boudreaux said he saw the muzzle of a gun pointed toward him and the gun was fired. The bullet hit the front driver's side door frame of Boudreaux's Tesla.

When Boudreaux drove away, the Jeep followed him briefly before turning out of the neighborhood. As Cox drove away, he called Chad Daybell twice through the burner phones, police said. Communication between the two continued until Cox approached Green River, Utah.

The day of the shooting, surveillance video obtained by EastIdahoNews.com showed Lori and Chad Daybell placing a single wheel with a tire into a Self Storage Plus storage unit in Rexburg that Lori Daybell had rented the day before.

Police reports show the evening after Cox is believed to have shot at Boudreaux, Lori searched the internet for "man shot in gilbert az," "man shot in gilbert az 10/2/2019" and "avc news brandon budreaux."

The Jeep driven by Cox made it back to Rexburg around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 3, 2019. Hours after Cox returned, he and Lori were seen on surveillance cameras removing the single wheel with a tire and a back seat to a Jeep from the storage unit.

Investigators spoke to Pawlowski the day after the shooting and she denied knowing anything about it. Police said Pawlowski could not explain details of what she was doing when Cox is believed to have shot at Boudreaux. Pawlowski did not want to share the phone numbers of Cox and Lori Daybell, "because she believed their phones could be tracked and listened to," according to police.

Ian told Rexburg PD and the FBI that Melani said she would go to prison or die before turning against Lori and Chad.

–Police report

Following the shooting, investigators in both Arizona and Idaho learned that Pawlowski, Cox, and Chad and Lori Daybell were close. Pawlowski moved to the same apartment complex in Rexburg and married a man named Ian Pawlowski.

"Ian told Rexburg PD and the FBI that Melani said she would go to prison or die before turning against Lori and Chad," according to police. "That statement was not recorded."

As the investigation unfolded, police seized the Jeep in Rexburg. Not only did police find Cox's DNA in the Jeep, but also gunshot residue around the back window.

Before the attempted shooting of Boudreaux, police learned Lori Daybell's two children, 7-year-old Joshua "JJ" Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, had vanished. Their bodies were found in June 2020 buried in Chad Daybell's backyard. Investigators also say Chad Daybell's first wife, Tammy Daybell, was killed in October 2019.

Chad and Lori Daybell, are already charged with multiple crimes, including conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree murder. They are in connection to JJ, Tylee, Tammy Daybell and Charles Vallow's deaths.
