JOSHUA "JJ" VALLOW, TYLEE RYAN, TAMMY DAYBELL, & CHARLES VALLOW: State of Idaho/Arizona vs. Lori & Chad Daybell *GUILTY*

Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

1:02 p.m. Melanie says police in Idaho called her twice when they were trying to find JJ. Melanie says she told Gilbert police, “I had him but I don’t have him anymore.” She told Gilbert police that Lori came to pick him up. Melanie says that was not the truth.

MG was trying to protect her friend until she realized her friend may be a criminal after all........
Things she witnessed that seemed a bit "off" might have all tumbled into clarity for her eventually.

1:15 p.m. Alex never told Melanie where the kids were so Melanie later asked Zulema if she knew where the kids were. Zulema said Alex told her the kids couldn’t be found. John Thomas has no further questions for Melanie.

(Alex ended up marrying Zulema just before he died. He took Zumela's last name, which is another interesting twist).

Here it is! Right around the time she decided to record their calls:

1:23 p.m. Melanie was concerned Chad and Lori would try to accuse her of something. That’s one of the reasons she recorded the phone call. She says at the time she made the call, she no longer believed the things Lori had taught her and that she was teaching false things for her own personal gain.

An interesting method of getting rid of the guilt of being a murderer.................

1:25 p.m. Blake asks if Melanie observed a pattern once someone was deemed a zombie. Melanie says yes. If people started questioning Lori or thought something was suspicious, that person became dark or a zombie.

1:31 p.m. Next witness is Chandler Police Detective Nathan Duncan.

Detective Duncan is going to be testifying about the day Alex shot and killed Charles Vallow, Lori's husband before Chad.

So anyone who did not agree with them was a zombie and would die, because, you know, Satan. Even LE. I wonder if we are going to have any religious experts in their church coming to court to explain how people were taken in by this? I mean these people were putting podcasts out FFS and speaking at conferences. Writing books. WTF.

So they have covered Brandon's attempted murder, now they are going to explain how they let Alex and Lori get away with Charles' murder. If they had dealt with this properly, none of the rest would have happened.

From what I've read, Chad was being very tricky in not allowing the LDS church know EXACTLY what he was teaching and I think it might be to keep from being excommunicated from their religion. Just my opinion.

That's the part that infuriates me the most!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even more so after reading this current testimony!!!!!!!!!!!!

1:57 p.m. Charles had one visible gunshot wound on the left side of his abdomen. There was not much blood present. Duncan says he has never responded to another shooting death with so little blood. There was not any blood spatter.

1:58 p.m. Alex indicated he shot Charles twice in the chest while he was standing. Duncan says there was only one bullet hole initially but next to Charles, there were two 45-caliber shell casings. There was also a bullet next to his left shoulder lying on the ground
“which was odd.”

Maybe the first bullet just ejected instead of firing. Very strange.

Here is J. Lum Twitter covering this testimony. Clicking on "1 reply" brings up the whole feed.

1 p.m. Thomas asks if Kay was going to receive the life insurance money from Charles’ death, there wouldn’t be any financial incentive for Lori, correct? Melanie says she doesn’t know.

As a juror, I would think about this, too. I've seen it mentioned twice that Lori knew Kay was getting the life insurance. If Lori knew this, why did the State hammer the point in opening arguments?
I don't think she did know that at the time and didn't find out till she called the insurance company after Charles was dead.

Clearly an interesting and busy day. On the other hand, most of it we had already heard from MG. I would though like to hear her testimony and even MORE so like to see it and see Lori's reaction to it but not to be.

A few things as I read the past couple of pages of it all to catch up.

Does anyone think when Chad took JJ upstairs and came down with a red neck is when he was killed?

Another thing is where does it come from that Lori knew Kay was getting the insurance? She KNEW afterwards because she got snotty with Kay about it. I'm not saying it isn't so but I have never heard that. It went to Kay quickly as Kay was the beneficiary. It was my understanding Lori called the company about it expecting to get it and found out then Kay was the named beneficiary. Is that incorrect?

I'll say also I for one do not like MG and do not think her innocent or as unknowing as she acts BUT I do believe for the most part, most of what is said about Chad and Lori is true. Mel P I trust even less. I think they are both accomplished liars who come across as nice women, good girls or try to. And Mel P. talks in circles and never directly responds to most things. I think Mel G. offered nothing that she didn't feel she had to. She is smoother than Mel P. at the calm and lying, at least in her interviews with Nate. With John Prior however, she was easily irritated and another side of her was glimpsed imo. I also keep in mind she lied at first for Lori and Chad when everyone was worried about these kids.

Most of these people in these groups, Chad's, Chad and Lori's, Avow, Feeding the People, etc., or many at least, were active members of the church. It isn't as if they broke off into just their own group or version of the religion and left the church, they DIDN'T. Imo if not endorsed by the church(?), they profited from it and gained following because of it...

I find it very ironic that Chad was like a "god" to Lori and the rest of his basic polygamy and number of wives in his lifetime and many at the same time considering he likely "married" 'how many of the numerous ones he was screwing around with in the church. Is Lori so gullible she didn't realize he had a "dirty" d*ck? To keep it somewhat clean, one that was often dipped in other "honeypots" so to speak?
