Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Written timeline of events
  • April 3, 2018 - Tylee Ryan's father, Joseph Ryan, dies. Death ruled heart attack.
  • December 2018 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow make first appearance on Preparing a People podcast.
  • February 2019 - Charles Vallow files for divorce from Lori, claiming she viewed herself as a god preparing for the second coming, and she would kill him if he got in her way.
  • February - April 2019 - Lori disappears for nearly two months, leaving her children with others.
  • June 2019 - Lori's niece demands a divorce from her husband, who says she shares similar beliefs to her aunt.
  • July 11, 2019 - Charles Vallow shot and killed by Lori's brother Alex Cox. Shooting initially ruled self-defense.
  • August 2019 - Lori moves to Rexburg, Idaho with kids
  • September 3, 2019 - Joshua "JJ" Vallow enrolled in school
  • September 23, 2019 - JJ last attended school
  • September 24, 2019 - Lori unenrolls JJ from school, saying she would be homeschooling him.
  • September 2019 - Tylee also seen in September, but it's unclear when and where (she had graduated early)
  • October 2, 2019 - Lori's niece's ex-husband was shot at, missing his head by inches. Shooter was driving a vehicle registered to Charles Vallow.
  • October 9, 2019 - Tammy Daybell, Chad's wife, called 911 and said a masked man shot at her with a paintball gun.
  • October 19, 2019 - Tammy Daybell dies, death is ruled natural
  • October 25, 2019 - Tylee, or someone using her phone, texts a friend
  • Late October / Early November 2019 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow get married
  • November 26, 2019 - Welfare check requested for JJ at the request of extended family - police are told he is in Arizona with family, but he is not
  • November 27, 2019 - Police return to serve a search warrant, finding the Daybell's gone
  • December 12, 2019 - Lori's brother, who had shot her ex-husband, dies mysteriously in Arizona
  • December 20, 2019 - Search for JJ and Tylee goes public
  • December 30, 2019 - LE says Lori knows where her children are but will not cooperate
  • January 25, 2020 - Chad & Lori are located in Hawaii, served with a notice that she must produce the children within 5 days
  • January 30, 2020 - Lori fails to produce JJ and Tylee

I know it is incomprehensible. I wonder if they have changed their minds, I mean honestly would we know if any of them had? They stay away from the press, etc... From all we hear though they haven't and why wouldn't you attend the trial of one of your mother's murderers or conspiracists in it? To me, I could never do that, I don't care the circumstances, I'd need to be there, hard as it might be and no matter what side you were on.

The other part that came out in this trial or that I heard in my brief moments I get to a look at a thing here and there, and it may have been here, I have no idea, is Chad was having Lori around neighbors and his children and family etc. after Tammy died, bragging on her, etc. So they were just fine with this? His children I mean? Did they not care about their mother? Was it all about dad? Or were they so brainwashed and controlled, as he clearly also tried to do and did do with Tammy...? I listen to some of the group and all I guess you have to do is have seen Jesus, etc. to become THE person to listen to... Because that's right up there with Joseph Smith or some other one as well or something. It is PROOF.

Lord help ME as I will never understand that. That is of course with those who truly believed and are telling the truth and not playing innocent...

Yep. I'm a bit less sure on him but he is right there as a total possibility no doubt. He had such security, all the locks on his apartment and all that I have to wonder BUT all lit would take is her getingi him to see her or talk to her for her to poison something in his home, etc. Otherwise she definitely drove him downhill and to his death at the very least.

For a long time I was convinced she had something to do with both (Joe and Alex) and I still am about Joe, but I think access and his health was a bit iffier is all. Alex was fine one day and gone the next with uncanny timing as to it helping Lori and Chad and his being a problem for them and quickly married and quickly gone AND there was the marriage, there was Zulema, there was access...

I DO think Joe is likely a victim of hers as well. I just think that one is harder to be sure of. He was going downhill.

Have we seen any reports of who is in the overflow - or distance viewing - rooms?
 
I don't think so and I think you know I haven't been able to watch or listen to all, but I think we'd hear if they attended with the sheer number of media, YTers, etc. there. Not sure about trial but attendees had to basically pre-register to watch jury selection and such didn't they, and I think maybe trial too? Not sure about trial.

I mean maybe they made some private accommodation for them where no one would know they are watching remotely but I don't think so. There'd be some sealed document or some such and other family members would be able to do so too then I'd think.

My guess is (and this is total fabrication/speculation on my part) Chad told them Lori is a deranged woman and a harlot and he had a divine experience or visit from their great grandma or their mom or someone who said they are NOT to attend this trial as all they will hear are lies that may bring the devil near them, etc. if they listen to such. You get my drift. Something to do with however he has always controlled and manipulated them and others worded in his ODD way.
 
You just have to love Nate. He isn't shy about being sarcastic about Lori and her games so he doesn't play it boringly safe. But he also toes the line very well when needed. And he asked for people who knew the victims to send him stories or memories and this one has remarks by one of Charles' adult sons, etc. Then Nate has his wife on with him which is a first to my knowledge. Well worth a watch. He is just awesome and I'm not one to fawn over anyone but he is. :D

 
And that's one thing we likely and most don't think of too often is there are so many family members who are victims and friends too in this case and others that we don't hear of whose lives are majorly affected like Charles' adult sons. BAD BAD LORI. DEMON. OR DEMONESS. IMO. They had the chart upside down as to who was light and who was dark don't ya think?
 
It's very sad yet heartwarming, Nate and his wife are sharing who this case has affected THEIR lives. Every time they have something going on, etc. something breaks on the crazy case, etc. Again, worth watching. I don't recall ever seeing his wife before.
 
This made me laugh out loud. She said Nate is NOT confrontational and her seeing him in Chad and Lori's face in Hawaii wasn't typical but surprising... Etc.

It's both good and heartbreaking to see family behind the scenes and how this demon "god and godess" have affected even this reporter's life and that of his family. Great human interest piece and shows some of the cost it had for Nate and his family. I don't mean $. I mean time and stress, etc.
 
When Nate went to Hawaii all the kids got sick and she had to handle on her own.

If they go grocery shopping, it is more expedient for her to do it on her own and leave him in the car as people now recognize Nate.

No doubt this case put him on the map and it sure is how I learned who he is. I think I may have seen him or Lum on another case jsut before but unsure...

Nate sure did go above and beyond and make his mark.

This is just a great human interest video (with a bit about the case too) and makes one stop and think how it affected the lives of this reporter and his family who aren't victims per se.
 
They take some questions and one is if Alex had an ins. policy and who the recipient was. By the way, Alex told Z he had a duffel bag with some cash in it for her if he died and it was like the next day he died. When asked if Alex had an ins. policy on his life Z told LE to ask Lori.
Again, like all, this one with Nate is one to watch. And a bit different than the norm with his wife on with him.
 
Boy this is really interesting. They now have a question as to whether Mel G and Zulema are the unnamed conspirators...

Prior to that as mentioned above was about Alex having life insurance and who benefited. He doesn't know and the key reporter on this case doesn't know says a lot, so no one knows or who benefited if they did, etc...

Now talking of Z having partial immunity.

WORTH watching.

Go to the 38:25 minute mark on this video and you will hear the part about the LIFE INSURANCE and if Lori knew and what defense attorney says and what Mel Gibb says in response.

.Defense claimed what she allegedly said in direct testimony (by prosecution I assume) that Lori told Mel the day before Charles passed away that if Charles died Kay would get the life insurance. So he puts her words (supposedly) out there. She starts to agree and then hesitates briefly and then she says "I thinnnk that's how I worded it, sounds right" He then says "but you knew that information prior to Charles' death?" and she emphatically this time says YES. Then he says there wouldn't be any incentive monetarily for Lori to be involved in Charles death right? Now for some reason I am hearing a part I don't recall hearing when I heard all this testimony before with the defense. She starts to not be sure and says no, I mean, not sure that's what she said, etc. now. I DO NOT recall this part but she did emphasize she knew before his death. Now not sure how worded apparently (she isn't clear on this). Then says she is not sure exactly how the wording was--but the--she (Lori) was starting to see that the money was changed right up until that point... Uhm so she doesn't now, and then says no, that's not--there would have been an incentive--no... And on it goes and she says she is just trying to clarify in her own mind. I do not recall this being on here at ALL. I'm pretty sure it was not a response to the prosecution I was thinking of but this isn't matching my memory. The FIRST part does where he makes the statement and she agrees...

He asks her AGAIN if she knew prior to Charles' death (meaning Mel) that the insurance was changed to Kay. She confirmed again she knew prior. He then THANKS her. This is ODD. And of course he thanks her, she said twice what he wanted her to...

I am likely going to have to find time to go back and listen to the prosecution questioning her and I actually listened to MOST of that today and remember no such thing. For anyone who has time, it is on the Day 9 stuff. With Nate it is Day 9 part 1 for prosecution and then I think cross may start at end of it and continues on Day 9 part II. Not sure if any testimony before Day 9 by her.

Below is the one with defense, go to time stamp I gave you. He then moves on of course as he has what he wants from her...

I wonder if Charles told Melanie? I doubt it, too.

There is where the prosecution needs to pull out transcripts and go over her testimony. I think she struggles with her memory.
