So they did check for DNA but didnt find any. They supposedly did and did not find ANY of his tissue or blood on any of the pieces and no pieces in the arm wound, which is another strike against him actually being hit by the tail light.
Yes I thought they checked for DNA and didnt find anything. But not surprising if they cleaned up the scene as you said. But strange they found nothing to support the dog or the car accident theory. What do the cops think caused the injuries? Did they check the snow plough and everyone's vehicles who came and went? They supposedly did and did not find ANY of his tissue or blood on any of the pieces and no pieces in the arm wound, which is another strike against him actually being hit by the tail light.

The defense had an expert witness in dog attacks testify for them. She testified that the injuries were similar to a dog attack.
I guess they will have to go through all this again in the retrial. This is about the accident reconstructionist that testified for Read.

So you think he was in the house for over an hour? Why did his phone not show him moving around then? Here's my theory of what happened. Karen dropped off John at the Albert's house. She sat in her car for about ten minutes and went home. (what she did for those ten minutes, I have no idea.)
John went into the house, and somehow he was hit by someone in the house. Why, I don't know. I think that person was probably Colin Albert, who was 17 at the time. The Albert's dog attacked him as well. John fell backwards and hit his head, and was severely wounded. It's also possible Matthew McCabe was involved as well. The dog attacked John because he was fighting with one of her masters.
The Albert's knew that Colin, and or Matthew, would be questioned by police and could be charged. So, they pulled him out on the lawn, hoping he'd die. I don't know what they were planning to say at that time. It may have been to blame John for starting the fight, and he ran out of the house. Nobody followed him and he died on the lawn. A dead John couldn't offer his version of the story. This is when Jennifer McCabe made her phone search.
However, Karen showed up and said, "Did I hit him?" with a cracked taillight, so They came up with a new story. Friends of the Albert's were willing to believe the story, and didn't ask questions because the defense was saying a seventeen year old was responsible. They didn't want the Albert's son to do jail time.
That's a very raw theory. I do think that Colin being seventeen at the time played a lot into it.
Here's some stuff about Colin:

Also the phone search was explained as being made later too.
They only found touch DNA and no blood or tissue on any of the pieces. So they did check for DNA but didnt find any.
How do you presume they found no dog DNA when they were only sent a sample of "something" to test that can't it negative? There was again no chain if evidence of where it when that sample was taken out when it was taken. No swabs of the actual injuries were taken. You're definitely not going to fund anything if you didn't actually look for it.Yes I thought they checked for DNA and didnt find anything. Yep and the defense is loaded with more info on what was some and not done by the prosecution.I guess they will have to go through all this again in the retrial.
