LIBBY GERMAN & ABBY WILLIAMS: Indiana vs. Richard Allen for 2017 murder of two Delphi girls *GUILTY*

On February 14, 2017, the bodies of Abigail Williams and Liberty German were discovered near the Monon High Bridge Trail, which is part of the Delphi Historic Trails in Delphi, Indiana, United States, after the young girls had disappeared from the same trail the previous day. The murders have received significant media coverage because a photo and audio recording of an individual believed to be the girls' murderer was found on German's smartphone. Despite the audio and video recordings of the suspect that have been circulated and the more than 26,000 tips that police have received, no arrest in the case has been made.[1][2][3]

Police have not publicly stated nor released details of how the girls were murdered.[6] As early as February 15, 2017, Indiana State Police began circulating a still image of an individual reportedly seen on the Monon High Bridge Trail near where the two friends were slain; the grainy photograph appearing to capture a Caucasian male, with hands in pockets, walking on the rail bridge, head down, toward the girls.[4] A few days later, the person in the photograph was named the prime suspect in the double-homicide.[5]

On February 22, law enforcement released an audio recording where the voice of the assailant,[7] though in some degree muffled, is heard to say, "Down the hill." It was at this news conference that officials credited the source of the audio and imagery to German's smartphone, and, further, regarded her as a hero for having had the uncanny foresight and fortitude to record the exchange in secret. Police indicated that additional evidence from the phone had been secured, but that they did not release it so as not to "compromise any future trial." By this time, the reward offered in the case was set at $41,000.[5]

Answering part of your post above.

I think a witness mentioned mud and leaves under her legs which made the witness think that. It was also mentioned she may have been sitting at some point because of the blood pattern downwards on her body. And her hands had blood on them which made the witness think she had her hands to her neck to try and stem the flow of blood, plus the tree marks were from her hands as she fell. Maybe she ended up against the tree and he dragged her to lay her down. It's so gruesome to think about and for the families to witness such detail.
Yes it's awful. I'd hope Gull is giving fair warning and time for family to leave if they want to in these cases. Thing is then they don't hear expert testimony. Even if they keep their heads down (as I did during our autopsy photos, that's the choice I made, most left) you still hear all the details. And he details yesterday were horrible for these families.

It makes more sense to me most was Libby's movements and what you just said makes sense too. I dont know if he could have or not, but I think bent on it, he could have dragged her a ways. And he was bent on all he was doing imo. I did some googling last night to see about pulling weight versus lifting or carrying and of course it's easier to pull than carry. Didn't come up with a whole lot as to how much for most people but I do think with adrenaline, and he'd have had a lot of it imo both because intent on his acts and the fear of getting caught if that's what was going through his head at that moment would help as well.

I also think though she could have ended up with her arm above her head for other reasons including one least desperate reach for something--Abby, help of any kind, an object, maybe looking for her phone... I guess it depends on whether she was already dead or not too.

Even talking of this in these few posts is awful. The horrors and pain these girls went through are going to m adden the jury against the perp. The thing is whether they decide RA is the perp. He is for me, and this tells me even more so what an absolute monster RA is and the key needs to be thrown away and him locked up for life. And he is the only one sitting in that room knowing every bit what happened where some of it will never be known to the rest. Unless of course it's in his confessions and if true or he one day tells all.

I got a very rare, unheard of actually good night's sleep and am up earlier than I normally would be for a noon shift but am going to show some support for a friend today and then head off to work later. Two more to go in my week.

This is week two right? IN some ways it seems so long already, I guess because I "feel" the tiredness of the ones attending and the jury already. If I was a reporter I'd be writing an article about what the attendees are being put through and how it ruins decent coverage of this trial or attempts to. And I'd be pretty scathing. The jury also has little to no down time between days and weeks. So far so good I guess, only lost one alternate as far as the jury although I don't know if anyone every came back and said whether the person is gone for good or came back. I'd imagine if they missed testimony they'd be gone for good. Had a family emergency at least that day from what it sounded like.

Hey I don't know if I ever mentioned it but I gather Becky talked to Tom one day and was nice and said she was aware of his coverage of the case.

Well we've still got the confessions to go, I'm still waiting for accounts of RA's day and days surrounding, etc. from him, daughter, etc.. We haven't had the full phone thing yet or have we?

I'm also going to say that I'm not sure I'm going to "watch" the defense. As of now, I'll probably stay somewhat up on it but I'm not going to worry about getting every question and answer like I am in this part. I'm not on the jury and my mind is made up,, has been for some time, and short of a miracle will stay that way. I am interested in what they do with KK, and perhaps will be in something else as well, but other than that, I've seen plenty from them and have had my fill over time LOL.

13 things from Monday the 28th

I read this one, have not went back and done others.

A chimera, really?? A juror asked that?

So he wasn't one sleeping in the courtroom lol, neither was Tom, he left before anything was said or that happened when he was fighting it.

You know, I know I'm a broken record but this is new. This is so horrid for family but you know what if this was recorded or preserved, they could always leave the courtroom and if they ever wanted to watch the testimony later or one day long from now, they could but it's been ensured no one ever can. Gull's decisions affect everyone even the victim families. If they want to hear it ever, they'd have to sit through it now. ANd/or they can't just stay at home and watch where they don't have to hide their emotions from anyone in the courtroom, etc. I'll damn this decision for the rest of my life. Seriously.

Not a bad read, for news, considering it is mainly takeaways and not a full coverage thing. And don't get me wrong, most don't have time for full coverage who want to follow either, I hven't kept up with or finished all of Tom's as they are that full on, but in most trials one can always go back and watch what one misses at a later time. Don't get me wrong, to this day most not nationally known trials are recorded, even in the courtroom, it's simply a court reporter but with the advent of Covid and Zoom many are that were attended that way and many a one has changed over.

I'll end with I think it is far more believable about Libby and the tree than the stupid O thing.

One thing I hven't seen covered much is the possibility Abby at least was restrained and/or had something over her mouth but it's been mentioned as possibilities.

Horrible details and too bad the family doesn't have options as far as how to watch, or even when. and of course the jury doesn't although they were told the one day they could leave too, were they not told this this day? It's all the little details that are always missing or big details even, in coverage, decisions, more.

I'll add this as well, the families are getting no down time either. You know I've criticized some cases with like every other day or afternoon having a "dark" day of no court but in this case I think such could be used. We did it for a WEEK only, five days. And a lot of us and it was a major thing, some from out of town, plans each morning, being there all day and back again the next. Bright and early.

I'm starting to fully realize what this is doing to the families as well. And we COULD go into a viewing room of the courtroom and If one was emotional or needed to talk, stretch, a more comfortable chair no one could hear you but you could still view all and hear all. We ALL exercised that option at times.

Not even halfway through week two yet and the families have how many more as do the jurors, and the reporters, etc. with NO options for watching or viewing otherwise. It's just dawning on me what this is doing to the families even, Kelsi to be there every single day six days a week needs child care, you name it.

For five days I knew what it took for us and all of those same things applied BUT it was five days AND we had the option of the adjoining room at least.

Kind of wandering but not too much, it all just dawns on from reading this and how they had to sit through it.

I'm awaiting all of the confessions and a few other things. Interviews, recordings, and family testimony or RA's own claims of his day that day, etc... A few more things not coming to mind at the moment.

Mind is elsewhere this morning.

So probably won't go back and see anything which I'd hoped to do.

I hope Tom is back on because it's killing him but he tries to get it ALL and that includes seeing RA's behavior and reaction and a lot more of all of it going on. But he's just one guy lol and did very well through days but caught up with him.

Thank you judge. Not.

My thought about school was just that if he was looking for a minor, then with school out, he'd probably think it's likely that minors would be out there.
I do think he was well aware of young people crossing that bridge and the it may very well have been the scenario he was watching out for but since there was no one else on the trail, I think he may have abducted them regardless from the trail side of the creek.
Good point. I wonder if people saw him out there before this happened? And did they see him out there after this happened? If he’s guilty and he went out there before, I would think he was figuring it out.

The bullet is going to do it for him. It matches his gun and in this interview he admits not ever shooting there in those woods. So it could only have got there that day.
But my concern is that this is a death penalty case right? I could be wrong, like I said I’m gonna ask stupid questions cause I haven’t kept up.

If it’s a death penalty case and there’s no DNA evidence, juries have a really hard time convicting because of all of the wrong convictions that were overturned with DNA later on.

Today in court -

Judge Gull admonishes members of the public for falling asleep in the coutroom.

Another expert on DNA confirmed the hair in Abby's hand was from Kelsi, Libby's sister. We said this was probable as it was Kelsi's sweatshirt she was wearing, so that ended up a big nothing burger.

Expert also said there was not enoigh DNA on the bullet to get anything but confirmed it was a match for RA's gun.

Why didn’t they check that hair before trial? I’m glad it’s been figured out though.

Delphi murders: Blood spatter expert weighs in on girls’ final moments

Libby German’s grandmother, Becky Patty, reeled in the gallery as a blood spatter expert described what he believed to be the final, bloody moments of her granddaughter’s life.

As Patty threw herself into her hands, appearing to cry, Richard Allen sat alongside his lawyers as gruesome crime scene photos displayed the bloody remains of Abby Williams and Libby German to those in attendance at the Carroll County courthouse. Allen is accused of murdering the two girls near the Monon High Bridge in Delphi on Feb. 13, 2017. He was arrested five years after they died.

Graphic crime scene photographs were shown during Cicero’s testimony as he described how Libby was likely mortally injured before being dragged 20 feet or so to her final resting place.

Previous autopsy findings revealed how the girls’ throats were cut — Libby’s more than once.

Cicero believes Libby was slashed near or against the tree, causing blood stains on the bark.

Blood on Libby’s hands reveals she may have grabbed her throat to try and stop the bleeding, Cicero described. Blood on her foot is consistent with her walking through her blood. Cicero believes Libby was standing upright at one point, due to the flow of blood stains on her torso.

Blood flow on her thighs reveals she was in a seated position at another point, Cicero said.
I was listening to the recap of their local news station last night about all the blood evidence and it just made me sick. Those dear sweet little girls. 😢

So I'm listen to the end of one of Tom's I never finished from a couple of days ago re tte trial. Was through about 3/4 so listening to some more. I have a couple up I never finished out.

Since he's trying to cover every question and answer, can't always do it but does pretty darned good, I hear things that imo have never been said in news or covered here.

This one might not seem major but it is to me. Liggett is on the stand and Rozzi gos to cross. Asks some questions re RA was not on their Radar five years before that because of a lost tip that someone cleared. Liggett agrees and thinks a dispatcher cleared it probably. I'm not myself doing word for word, Tom does more so by far. Then it leads into five years later memories wouldn't be perfect right, Liggett doesn't disagree. LIke of RA the then goes. ANd then he adds of his wife and witnesses. The insertion of the wife here puts my radar up as it's rumored she lied for him. So they're covering something to come imo... I've long thought so...

And of course of RA himself...

This is a small town with a major double kid teen slaughter/murder. I don't buy it for one minute. Just like all of us recall where we were on 09/11, I can also take that to my small town and the RARE big case of where I was and what happened that day in my world that day, etc. I'm not talking any crime personal to me and I remember well. I can name the case/s. RA of course recalls. Every detail. And imo his wife does too. Insofar as their day that day, when they heard and everything else...

It might seem minor, this question and inserting the wife, but I don't think it is. And this where hearing all the questions and answers give a different perspective than news coverage of the trial. And does this mean she may have to testify or a recording of hers and interview may be played? Of course NO ONE has gotten the answers to that either out there... That I've heard...

It's also but one example of MANY a thing I've picked up on when you are getting someone who tries to cover every question and exact answer. You get a far fuller picture that news misses or their reports every bit of.

And Tom's not opining, he is too busy just relaying questions and answers. I'm opining though.

Lol this was a good one. Rozzi keeps trying to say and ask so memories would be better in 2017 then 2022 right...? Ligettt agrees more than once. Questions go on, similar question again as to would memories be better closer to the time of the murders or later. Liggett again agrees and says just like RA said in 2017 he was on the trail from 1;30 to 3:30 and in 2022 five years later he said noon to 1:30... LOL. As Tom said, great point...

This one is a couple days old but finishing it or trying to. Lots of questions also about the keepsake bullet... And attempt it would seem to me to minimize something the D knows is coming... Just guessing but...

I'm guesing I jsut ran into the McQuaid thing from yesterday and watched it.

So today possibly will be three full hours of RA's own words in interviews. The rest of it I had mostly already heard and was said on here I think so nothing new at this point or me this morning anyhow. It may have been earlier yesterday but not now when I saw it.

This is also the day which seems to really get missed by news in the few days old one I am watching where it is stated they found every phone basically ever owned EXCEPT the 2017 one that RA answered when he was called. As Tom says "that ain't good"... They fpund every old flip phone ad chargers and everything else to her than THAT one. Gee whiz I wonder why.....?

It's the hardest thing for me, and I believe for all to look in cases at now what is just there but what IS NOT THERE. Or isn't said. Etc. And I think a ton is often missed because the average person does not think this way, they look at what they see or is front of them period, including me... I do the same. I try to remind self of what they aren't saying, what wasn't found, etc. n almost every case because my normal thought process doesn't go there...

I wanted to finish this day's from Tom because it was an important one imo with a lot of info. Not quite done yet but almost there.

Can someone explain to me in a nutshell ”the KK thing”?
Nutshell:

Kegan Kline was catfishing Libby under an Anthony Shots profile. He was "making plans" to meet her the day the girls were murdered.

In the course of the murder investigation, he was charged with dozens of counts of child pornography. He's in a maximum security prison now (he was convicted).

It appears several people were using the Anthony Shots profile he created. I dont think anyone else has been charged in relation to the Kline case, so it was rumor or I'm mistaken. :)

Which leads to wondering if RA had a burner phone, had access to that account, etc.

He lived in Peru, Indiana. We've now heard RA was visiting his mom in Peru that morning.

Kline would have never met Libby because in truth he is a fat, gross person. I doubt he could walk 20 feet without getting short of breath.

Arrest me or take me home’: Jury watches video Richard Allen’s first interview

Richard Allen’s interview with police took center stage in the Delphi murders trial Tuesday, with jurors and observers watching the video in court for the first time.

On Day 10, portions of Allen’s Oct. 13, 2022, interview were played in court. The video lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. Some portions not pertaining to the investigation were redacted by agreement of the state and Allen’s defense. The video cut on a few occasions.

According to media observers, Allen is engaging, cooperative and agreeable at the beginning of the interview. As the interview progresses, however, Allen becomes more cautious and it dawns on him about 30 minutes in that police are giving serious consideration to his involvement in the murders.

The footage included Allen and Steve Mullin, the former Delphi police chief who works as an investigator for the Carroll County Prosecutor’s Office. Tony Liggett, an investigator on the case and the current Carroll County sheriff, is also in the video.

Delphi murders: Warden, correctional officers say Allen made multiple confessions to killing Abby, Libby

Testimony into Richard Allen’s hotly disputed confessions began on Tuesday afternoon as the warden of Westville Correctional Facility and several correctional officers took the witness stand and told jurors about how Allen confessed to killing Abby Williams and Libby German while in prison.

Day 10 of testimony began with jurors listening to the first interviews police conducted with Richard Allen shortly before his arrest in late October 2022. In the interviews, Allen vehemently denied killing the girls despite police not only lying to Allen but attempting to leverage his family against him.

“I didn’t murder two little girls. I wasn’t involved in killing two little girls,” Allen told police in the interviews.

But correctional officers at Westville Correctional Facility told jurors that Allen changed his tune in prison.

The so-called “confessions” of Richard Allen have long been known with prosecutors previously detailing how Allen made more than 60 confessions during his long stint behind bars. The defense has repeatedly claimed Allen was suffering from mental anguish and made the “confessions” due to the stress, strain and mental breakdowns he suffered while being kept in terrible conditions.
