LIBBY GERMAN & ABBY WILLIAMS: Indiana vs. Richard Allen for 2017 murder of two Delphi girls *GUILTY*

On February 14, 2017, the bodies of Abigail Williams and Liberty German were discovered near the Monon High Bridge Trail, which is part of the Delphi Historic Trails in Delphi, Indiana, United States, after the young girls had disappeared from the same trail the previous day. The murders have received significant media coverage because a photo and audio recording of an individual believed to be the girls' murderer was found on German's smartphone. Despite the audio and video recordings of the suspect that have been circulated and the more than 26,000 tips that police have received, no arrest in the case has been made.[1][2][3]

Police have not publicly stated nor released details of how the girls were murdered.[6] As early as February 15, 2017, Indiana State Police began circulating a still image of an individual reportedly seen on the Monon High Bridge Trail near where the two friends were slain; the grainy photograph appearing to capture a Caucasian male, with hands in pockets, walking on the rail bridge, head down, toward the girls.[4] A few days later, the person in the photograph was named the prime suspect in the double-homicide.[5]

On February 22, law enforcement released an audio recording where the voice of the assailant,[7] though in some degree muffled, is heard to say, "Down the hill." It was at this news conference that officials credited the source of the audio and imagery to German's smartphone, and, further, regarded her as a hero for having had the uncanny foresight and fortitude to record the exchange in secret. Police indicated that additional evidence from the phone had been secured, but that they did not release it so as not to "compromise any future trial." By this time, the reward offered in the case was set at $41,000.[5]

Ok i searched for the officer's name and Kimster posted on the fallen officers thread 2021 and this was also discussed earlier this year on this thread too, so pretty sure everything has all been covered about this before.

I am done going down any "O" road. And do know of this, it has come up before.

As you say it's been brought up here before.

It's finally the families' time and some won't let them have that. They waited forever for it. Different, but we lived that in my family.

And LE's. Some abided by the gag order and some intentionally leaked for sensation and more.

And boy in some of the statements and the presser, one really hears about that.

All has gone as it should have, meaning he was convicted as he should have been, he is a flat out monster.

Nothing they've ever thrown up has ever taken him out as the one, and I honestly do not believe there were others, other than maybe if he had info or knew they'd be there, etc. from someone.

I mean the families can't even get a day. Even here. Right away some old news about the O thing. SMFH.

I heard it but not sure from where. I think HTC, don't think she had it but she took tons of notes on the ones she did not have. I could be wrong though.
She covered them all. A couple she did not have given to her but she had tons of notes on what they said and she covered every single statement and I will give her that. I think I linked it above.

Richard Allen has been transferred to the Reception Diagnostic Center, located in Plainfield, IN.

About Reception Diagnostic Center

The Reception Diagnostic Center (RDC) is a maximum-security intake facility for adult males sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction. All adult males are received at RDC, classified, and transferred to long-term facilities. The facility was completed in two phases in 1971 and 1993 and has a capacity of more than 600 incarcerated individuals. During intake, incarcerated individuals are seen by multiple divisions throughout DOC for assessments, including for their physical and emotional health, addiction recovery services, educational and work opportunities, and other needs, which help determine which of the state’s facilities best meet their needs.

They were ready for this apparently. Ours sat a few weeks in county, it was something that surprised us and we asked about it, got told all has to do with escorting him, when facility intake could take him, etc. Maybe they were overloaded, not sure, but he did not go right off after sentencing as we thought he would.

This is pretty high profile though plus different state and maybe they even wanted him out of there ASAP or some such.

Also never knew they all go to an intake center first until we found it out. I'ts where it is also decided which prison they will go to, max security, etc. Some of it is crime dependent but it can also change over the years. Our perp has been moved, and that often happens.

Personally I think more should be aware of all this and the system because it sure isn't all it's cracked up to be. And like the things they are allowed these days too.

It does differ but things change right under our noses all of the time and we never have a clue.

I for one am very happy he is convicted and sentenced to the max, I've never doubted he was the guy once they had him. Clearly the families never did either which we now know.

Just like anyone else, I was not happy with everything and didn't like the screw ups and hated living the whole D ridiculousness, can't imagine how that has been for the families.

I;ve never had a doubt though and once I heard the voice comparison some time back, I was rock solid.

He is the killer of these girls and I have zero doubt he is BG. It really shocks and scares me that some don't even see him for the monster he is. There are stories just starting to come out that have been held back. I've heard a hint or two of such in recent weeks.

Gag order of course. Not affecting the case. The reason.

If his wife is innocent and truly did not know, she needs to WALK.

All just my opinion. 12 jurors SAW IT. And took an average time to deliberate, which these days seems long to many. They wanted to be sure and cover all the bases and it was not that long at all.

In some cases I waver, but not in this one. To me it is plain as daylight.

If he wants to come clean, most have said please do in their statements, and truly do apologize, not appeal, etc. If anyone else was involved at all, let him say so and prove it. I don't think there was myself except for perhaps the knowledge the girls would be there but sure could be wrong.

The poor families--because this has been quite the road even here and for all watching or following. It's a bit hard to believe even that it's over.

I can't imagine the judge, prosecutors, etc. with this being over. It has to be a relief not even realized yet. Not that appeals won't come yet.

I guess I should quit. I'm just very happy the families have this chapter closed before Christmas.

And sorry for anyone that disagrees but I hope the D gets their comeuppance too.

Typically I detest most defense attys but Scott I will watch. Someone like Motta, never again. Once or twice was enough.

I probably won't get to sharing it on all threads, he covered Kohberger, the UHC killer I will never say the name of, and Delphi, so it's always hard as he always has a number of them in his shows.

And if one wants to learn about the law, he is pretty darned good at teaching what we don't know as well. Very fair as well imo. Been running into more of his shows lately, beforehand, I think the algorithm or some such had me not seeing him so much or maybe he was not on as much.

Very good show on all three cases.

Not asking anyone to, but it could go under all three. I'm definitely not going to get around to it. Very good points on all.

Finally hearing him but I'll say probably in the first 15 minutes, I heard about a minute of him and a whole ton of ads, etc. I don't know the last time I watched anything of theirs, been some years I think but full of ads. I know I watched all the KK stuff back when,

However, it is good, he is talking of how angry he was the way the girls were treated like "animals" by RA. Since we couldn't hear them or anything in court, it's a taste of hearing such now in this interview. Talking of the challenges in the case, the agencies, etc. I think I've finally heard a few minutes from him now without an ad. Lol.

He says KK is a pathological liar. He does think it's possible the girls were there due to him. They could never though establish a link showing that or to RA, etc. That's kind of interesting. Had some minutes without ads but now hit another one.

Haven't finished the MS one yet but in the meantime saw this.

What Doug Carter has to say about the D attorneys.

Not sure if link will work but hoping so.

Yeah it worked. He said "read the dossier" and "it's unconscionable what they did" and " its what we teach our kids not to do."

What lies and dossier is he talking about?

DELPHI, Ind. — Surrounded by police and prosecutors, a retired government employee stood with a stoic expression as those around her heaped praise.
She was the key to solving one of Indiana’s most infamous crimes in recent memory.
Kathy Shank, who volunteered as a clerk, came across a box of tip sheets in a desk drawer that led to an arrest in the 2017 killings of Abigail "Abby" Williams and Liberty "Libby" German in Delphi.
On Friday, the man Shank helped identify, Richard Allen, was sentenced to the maximum punishment of 130 years in prison in their deaths.

“Without her, we would not be here,” Carroll County Prosecutor Nick McLeland said during a news conference after Allen’s sentencing. “Without her, we would not have an arrest, conviction and a sentence.”
Before her retirement, Shank worked for 40 years as a child protective service investigator.
“As soon as I saw (the tip), I just thought this was something we’d been looking for,” Shank said after the news conference Friday.
She was also hailed as a hero by Carroll County Sheriff Tony Liggett after Allen’s sentencing. Even after finding the tip, Shank played a role in the prosecutor's office.

'Lowlife coward.' Carroll County Sheriff Tony Liggett emotional after Richard Allen sentencing
Carroll County Sheriff Tony Liggett addresses the sentencing of Richard Allen for the Delphi, Indiana, murders on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024.

"She was the grandmother of our office, if you will," McLeland said. "She made sure that whatever we needed, she took care of and she never complained."
Shank said she was happy to be at the news conference and that there was justice for the families of the victims.
McLeland also thanked law enforcement and his team of prosecutors for their support in securing Allen’s conviction. He hopes the families of the victims can take a sigh of relief that this part of the trial is over, McLeland said.
On a large screen during the news conference, a photo of Abby Williams and Libby German was projected. In the photo, the girls appeared to be sitting in the back of a vehicle, with winter hats on, smiling into the camera.
Next to the podium was another photo of the girls with the following message: “Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.”
Allen was convicted in November of two counts of murder and two counts of murder while kidnapping the girls. Special Judge Frances Gull imposed the maximum 65-year punishment for each murder charge.
"I have been a criminal court judge in the state of Indiana for 25 years, and I have presided over some of the most hideous cases in the state of Indiana," Gull told Allen before announcing her sentence in a packed courtroom, "and you rank right up there."
Allen has maintained his innocence and will appeal.

Richard Allen was not on Delphi investigators\' radar. Then a volunteer found a box of tips

See the Delphi murders case, investigation in 7 years of photos after guilty verdict against Richard Allen

A few days after the girls' bodies were found, Allen self-reported to investigators that he was on the Monon High Bridge trail on Feb. 13, 2017. He was later contacted by Dan Dulin, an Indiana Department of Natural Resources captain who was helping with the investigation, and the two met at a grocery store.
Allen said he was on the trail that day between 1 and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 13, Dulin told jurors during the trial in October. Allen told the investigator he saw three girls near the Freedom Bridge as he headed toward the trail, Dulin testified.
Allen was ultimately cleared, and for the next five years, he was not on investigators' radar. That changed on Sept. 21, 2022, when Shank came across a "lead sheet" about Allen.
That day, she opened the box and began going through the files, thinking she had to log them into a database. Then, she came across Allen's file, which appeared to have been mislabeled as "Richard Allen Whiteman," Shank testified during Allen's trial.
It's unclear where "Whiteman" came from, but Allen, a white man, lived on Whiteman Drive in Delphi.
The file seemed to catch Shank's attention. She'd previously read that someone, a girl, had reported seeing a man on the trail on Feb. 13 at about the same time that Allen, based on his own self-reporting, was on the trail.
"I thought there could be a correlation," Shank testified.
Shank took the file to Tony Liggett, who was chief deputy at the Carroll County Sheriff's Office at that time. He alerted Steve Mullin, who was chief of the Delphi Police Department when the girls were killed and later became an investigator at the prosecutor's office.
The investigation then focused on Allen, leading to his subsequent conviction in November and sentencing on Friday.

I just don't understand why Dulin didn't remember that RA reported to him that he had been on the trail. It's not like there were tons of middle age men reporting that fact to him. Plus KA knew he was there too.

Yeah it worked. He said "read the dossier" and "it's unconscionable what they did" and " its what we teach our kids not to do."

What lies and dossier is he talking about?
I've always said what's his face getting that info was NO accident, it was intentional and I didn't believe the story for a minute.

I imagine the dossier is what they put together for charges? But then I don't know if they left it go and fizzle because of the state of the more important case, this one, that the two attys were to stay on, or what. What I do know is tons is likely now to come out with no gag order or it should work that way.

I really like him, it's always been clear how much he cared and here he also shows his strength in that he'd say it TO THEIR FACES, no problem. That was another remark I liked. From all the statements, it is clear no one believes it was just MW on his own and not intentional and I'm SO GLAD they are saying so as it's always been so obvious in my opinion it was all planned.

Just as how the family like Becky Patty talks of pictures still being out there and circulating. I think something is going to come from all that yet, or it sure feels like it. It's awful that stuff was released and can't all be retrieved. There are still a few YTers I am pretty sure got them and wouldn't have refused anything like that. Or TOLD. I'm not going to name who I suspect but they're well enough know, two of them for sure.

He also sticks up for Holman totally in his actual statement if I recall. I should have finished the MS thing with him but it's not been a good day.

You know the two of them, the D, really tried to ruin a lot of people and careers imo.

I just don't understand why Dulin didn't remember that RA reported to him that he had been on the trail. It's not like there were tons of middle age men reporting that fact to him. Plus KA knew he was there too.
Yeah, that's a tough one. He seemed on the stand to even say not until asked and even then did not recall but went back to look for his notes on talking to him or whatever. He seemed truthful but of course we could not SEE OR HEAR anyone to judge the credibility on the stand. Never will in fact. STILL hate that decision.

I don't know, maybe because it was early days and he seemed so voluntarily willing with the info and "normal"? Wasn't part of his duties to probably even record, just turn the info in.

You know they've had to stay so hushed. I hadn't heard all of Holman's thing with MS but he was covering some stuff like working with the feds and all of the agencies involved, the part I did listen to, explaining it all and I assume because they NOW can TALK finally where nothing ever shut the defense up.

Carter even mentioned the man dead because of them.

Anyone who hasn't read all the statements or heard them read in full by someone really should and at least they could talk on camera OUTSIDE the courthouse on sentencing day, have the presser, etc.

I do believe the Pattys as stated will try to just have a Christmas and some time, and New Year's and be speaking as they've said in the new year. I hope they have some joyful moments, Abby's family too. All of them.

Yeah if there is any record of any interviews with KA, I'd sure the heck like to see them.

I don't like that woman. I didn't like their games in court either. And I'm not sure I buy he told them to not come either. It's possible but since when do they listen to him? Wouldn't to the confessions...I think the control in those households is different than we've been led to believe.

It's still kind of hard to believe this is over. Well the conviction and case really. Most people I've watched don't think he has much of a chance on appeal. I find that interesting too, some of them lawyers.

Well B & R have really caught some major criticism and I think it very well deserved and long overdue. From many a person, not a one who seems to believe it was any accident. I never have.

I suppose people are now after records and transcripts and such. I'd hope the Pattys can just ignore anything coming out though through the holidays. Both families. It will still be there if they want to look later. The Courthouse will be busy and some of it will take time I'd imagine.

I've wandered on long enough. Just a hard day and also trying to transition on this case I guess to where it now is.

I hope yours was a good one.

Listening to Holman on MS, more of it. It's so clear they can talk now. He addresses a lot of things and answers almost every question as to what they were thinking, what was going on, about KK, and lots of things. It is well worth it.

They do a fair amount of ads and I could probably fast forward past them but haven't. The interview is worth it, big time. I'm only on part one but hoping to get through the rest of part one anyhow. He is being pretty open imo and it sure tells how hushed they had to be during the case, and how "gagged". He explains the Orion system with tips, how the system would not match them or put them together, etc., had a lot to say about Kathy Shank,, the one who found the tip. Explains a LOT of it. Pretty darned well imo.

When Shank found the tip on RA and brought it to their attention, it was on her late hub's birthday. Holman believes it was divine intervention almost. No one on that team seems to be able to even almost say how great she was. She took stuff on, then helped more and more. Going through everything. He seems pretty darned open, no hesitation with answering anything. It's the other side we've never been able to hear because they followed the gag order and of course we couldn't hear the trial. Lots of answers about KK as I previously mentioned. It's well worth a listen.

Interesting the day of the search warrant, RA said many times it's over. He wondered too if his wife had been arrested. Hmmm.

First time Holman ever interacted with him.

I mean seriously we are getting to finally hear some things.

It's been such a one sided circus for sooooo long. And I'm sorry but that so many seemed to buy into out there. Because they are hearing ONE side only.

Okay. Also interesting is when they went to get the vehicle. HE says when they walked in he emptied his pockets in the lobby, handed his coat and all belongings to his wife, etc. He says it was very interesting because unless you think you're going to jail, why would you do that... Just like the search warrant day, he was constantly saying, it's over, it's over, doesn't matter.

BOY i'ts about time they are allowed to talk and we can hear the other side of things. Jmo. Well worth the listen.

SOOO interesting. He offered him an out, take a polygraph, instant refusal. Man has this sh*t only been heard one way prior to this. NEWS did not cover SH*T if they heard all this stuff. Some of what he is talking of too was redacted and not heard in court though and he's answering that.

He admits to LEGALLY allowed tactics at a point. Part I think they mean was cut out, was he refused a polygraph but then KA was in there or talked to and they asked her if she was innocent if she'd take a polygraph and she said absolutely she would. She was then told her hub would not. And if I heard it right seems like some bit of fighting between him and wife is part of what was redacted. IF I have it right. And it's when RA got angry and Holman admits to when he did he gave it back, etc.

I'ts just REALLY INTERESTING. HIGHLY recommend if anyone wants a total view of the case and some more info.

So he's been basically almost confessing from day one, it's over, it's over. Worried his wife was arrested even. Refusing a polygraph, given chances to clear self. They had no plans to arrest him that day and it was the statement that no one else ever had his gun that pretty much did it. HE offered outs, polygraph, explaining this or that, etc. Admits to tactics at a point. Points out they are legal which they are. And upheld by the SC which he also mentions.

Boy he is answering all. Something not allowed in was a video from Cass County Jail. P wanted in, D wanted out, judge ruled too prejudicial, sided with D and I do think people need to realize she sided with D a lot at trial, very even handed in my opinion.

So what was on it is he was fine, sitting on his bed, calm. Then after some minutes he went from zero to one hundred, losing it and snapping, threatening, etc. to all. Then after a bit of that, he went back to calm and started reading the bible.

This was NOT allowed in the way it sounds and I think I recall that P wanted it but none of us knew what it was that was kept out. He feels it shows his true self and personality I think and he believes some of the other things are all an act. I have to say I've always felt the same.

But I will say it is one top reason it is worth a listen because he is answering to things even the jury did not hear, and what they were about. The gag order is truly lifted it seems. Haven't had an ad in awhile either and now done with Part 1.
