LIBBY GERMAN & ABBY WILLIAMS: Indiana vs. Richard Allen for 2017 murder of two Delphi girls *TRIAL IN PROGRESS*

On February 14, 2017, the bodies of Abigail Williams and Liberty German were discovered near the Monon High Bridge Trail, which is part of the Delphi Historic Trails in Delphi, Indiana, United States, after the young girls had disappeared from the same trail the previous day. The murders have received significant media coverage because a photo and audio recording of an individual believed to be the girls' murderer was found on German's smartphone. Despite the audio and video recordings of the suspect that have been circulated and the more than 26,000 tips that police have received, no arrest in the case has been made.[1][2][3]

Police have not publicly stated nor released details of how the girls were murdered.[6] As early as February 15, 2017, Indiana State Police began circulating a still image of an individual reportedly seen on the Monon High Bridge Trail near where the two friends were slain; the grainy photograph appearing to capture a Caucasian male, with hands in pockets, walking on the rail bridge, head down, toward the girls.[4] A few days later, the person in the photograph was named the prime suspect in the double-homicide.[5]

On February 22, law enforcement released an audio recording where the voice of the assailant,[7] though in some degree muffled, is heard to say, "Down the hill." It was at this news conference that officials credited the source of the audio and imagery to German's smartphone, and, further, regarded her as a hero for having had the uncanny foresight and fortitude to record the exchange in secret. Police indicated that additional evidence from the phone had been secured, but that they did not release it so as not to "compromise any future trial." By this time, the reward offered in the case was set at $41,000.[5]

Yes one of the other witnesses on the other side of the creek said he could hear Pat Brown across the creek. That is interesting to know that sound carries easily from the CS across the creek to the bridge. I think this indicates that whatever happened that day, happened quickly, as later people on the trails and bridge heard nothing and neither did Libby's father when he got there to meet them. It was a very well concealed spot too, which RA must have been very familiar with to lead them there IMO.
I think if you have a fairly still day in Februrary in most Midwest states where partial melting has went on, leaves are on the ground but the next morning I things would also be frozen again, etc. and it is men in boots, I don't find it unusual you'd hear someone walking or traversing, leaves crunching, various things.

I agree it is like he picked the spot...

I don't really make much (although I think the D will try to) of no one hearing anything that day. Whatsoever. The girls were likely under total control and the timing of everyone, where, etc. and the timing OF the murders, etc. well, I just don't see where it means a thing.

There was a bullet or casing, not going to go back into that one again, and imo there was as it was a means to keep them obeying, shut up, etc.

My theorizing agrees with the state in that I think he had a major sick fantasy but only got so far before hearing someone or panicking. I do think he had started to carry such out, hence the way Abby was not dressed in her own clothes, Libby was not dressed, etc.

By the way Tom said (I believe it was Tom,w watched a few things but key one was hm), Abby had shoes on but no socks... I mean that just goes to show undress and redress had went on, whether by self or someone else... Of course that' assuming she was wearing socks, I guess not sure we would know that...?

This trial has hardly commenced and NONE of it so far is to due with the scene etc. just about family and then the ones who found the clothes and found the bodies and that's about it so far. The rest of this all is yet to come...A TON yet to come... I think they were easing in last week and even easing the jury in... Talking of some harder details a bit when found, etc. but now I th ink today it will start a bit full steam ahead...

What if there's no wind?

Sound carries more across water. So across the creek for example as there are no trees.

I live near two military defence areas but they are both between 10 or 20 miles away in different directions, across a large open stretch of sea. The noise of guns and bombs travels across this water regardless of wind direction and then you hear an echo as it bounces back when it hits against hills and cliffs. Sound waves are similar to waves/ripples when you drop a stone in water and they go in a circle. Traffic noise may be different, as it comes from moving objects as well.
Yes, tons of things can play into this and to me, bare trees, leaves from the fall all over the ground, melting sn*w and then refreezing and no tree cover, grass, etc. you are going to hear things like you would not in the summer imo, as to people or men in boots walking etc. Wind can also affect I'm sure as can height and area and blocks...

I don't put anything into this sound thing whatever, it is what the defense is trying to do. No one knows if the girls EVER screamed and quite likely they did not. That's probably one place or thing they are getting at. They were under control at gun point at minimum. Baldwin seems to be getting at Libby would have screamed and fought, etc. and I think if that's what they are aiming for for one, it's extremely weak.

I'm finding it to be stupid honestly. People searching and possibly yelling to each other, etc. I hardly the same as someone trying to commit a crime and not be seen or heard and control a couple of teenaged girls.

Whatever thek point is, I don't think it's going to get them very far...

Right now there is no wind and I can hear things from all direction equally as well. All I am saying is that the wind carries sound a long ways some times and away from other places that it would seem like should hear it.

The day was unseasonably warm and so was the following day IIRC. No ice or snow around hardly at all.

I have searched for news today and it is annoying as some outlets are pushing the O theory and trying to sensationalize just to get views.

I read that the jury were allowed to see their families. That's not usual is it?

It's getting ridiculous now. D doesn't want Libby's video to be aired. The victim bravely catches an audio/visual of her and her friend's killer, yet the perp wants to put conditions on it? That video is Libby's personal possession and copyright and she and her family can use it how they want. Talk about ridiculous bull****.

Here we go today. WARNING graphic.

DELPHI, Ind. (WNDU) - The trial continues for the man accused of killing two teenage girls in Delphi more than seven years ago.
52-year-old Richard Allen is charged with the murders of 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German. Abby and Libby disappeared during a hike on Feb. 13, 2017, near the Monon High Bridge Trail in Delphi. Their bodies were discovered in the woods near that trail a day later.

Testimony continued this morning after Delphi’s former police chief and two members of the search party took the stand on Saturday to recount exactly how the two teen girls were found.
According to our sister station WTHR, Detective Darron Giancola with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was called to the stand and told the jury he went to search for the girls the night of Feb. 13, 2017, despite not being on duty.
When asked to describe the scene, Giancola said both the girls had lacerations to their throats and had “a substantial amount of blood on their person and underneath.” He also said it was obvious they were both dead.
According to WTHR, the jury also saw 43 crime scene photos, as well as several diagrams, that were bloody and graphic. This made the victims’ families emotional, and some jurors reportedly seemed clearly disturbed while looking at the photos.
Court is expected to resume after 1 p.m.

Defense files motion related to recordings from Libby’s cell phone

WTHR says the defense filed a motion on Sunday evening related to how jurors will hear and see the video and audio recovered from Libby’s cell phone.
The motion reportedly does not try to prevent jurors from seeing and hearing the recordings, but the defense does want to create guidelines about how the jurors hear the recordings and what questions can be asked of witnesses on that topic.
The defense argues the recording they received appears to contain a phrase spoken by one of the girls as well as an audio clip of a man speaking, and it claims the state enhanced the recording and plays those sounds on a loop.
The request specifically asks to prevent questions that would lead witnesses to identify the words and sounds on the recordings.
Much like the prosecution argued to keep the composite sketches of a possible suspect away from jurors, the defense argues that the video and audio recordings are not relevant because they were not used to identify Richard Allen as a suspect.

WTHR says state has not yet filed a response.

Are they wanting to exclude the recording because they know the jury will soon hear his voice on the confession calls?
Possibly, but I interpret it that they want to limit the playing of it because it was not used to id RA. I don't know how they would know that. AFAIK he was wearing similar clothes and LE likely did a voice and height comparison so they are just trying to get all the evidence thrown out or restricted. They know how damaging it is. It's not going to work. RA is listed as 5' 5" in his latest mugshot and looks more and more like BG. I wish someone would put all his mugshots in timeline order and next to each other.

For court, he has shaved off all his facial and head hair and put on the glasses in an attempt to not look like BG and his prior mugshots IMO. He's a chameleon killer.

I'd never heard this detail before:

Made his way to trails and high bridge. His route into trails was focused on heavily. Was walking south side of Deer Creek with other LE officers and civilian searchers. Searched until 2:00 a.m.
Noticed of north east side of bridge a disturbance on downward slope heading down towards creek. It appeared someone had slid down as leaves and debris appeared cleared. Pointed it out to a Firefighter, told no other LE that night. Search resumed at 7:30 a.m.

This article has detail of the testimony from this mornings two witnesses. I won't paste it as it is extremely graphic. Suffice to say the descriptions of the injuries and blood clearly show they were killed at the scene. The jury members are shocked by the pictures and testimony. Family members bite their lips and bow their heads.

RA showed no significant reaction as the photos were displayed.

Pics from approx the last three years. The most recent below sure looks like BG, but now in court he has changed his look again. Shaving off his facial and head hair.

It has also emerged that the accused killer brazenly posed for a smiling selfie in front of one of the police sketches of the murder suspect.

May not be able to decipher it if it is not enhanced. I don't believe the video was enhanced but the audio may have had extraneous noise taken out so the words are audible.

So the bullet was found pressed into the ground, after the bodies were moved, with the aid of a blue light, not days or weeks after the crime scene was released as rumour previously wrongly stated.

Page spoke for about 90 minutes before the court took a break. He resumed his testimony around 1 p.m.
During cross-examination, defense attorneys questioned Page about the unspent bullet reportedly found at the crime scene that has been integral in linking Allen to the murders. Investigators claim the tool marks on the cartridge, which wasn’t fired but ejected, were a match for a Sig Sauer pistol owned by Allen. The defense has repeatedly attacked the science of linking tool markings from an ejected cartridge to a specific gun.

According to Page’s testimony, the cartridge wasn’t easy to find. It was located after the bodies were already moved and found with the assistance of a blue light — which revealed a sparkle.
Page said the cartridge was pointed straight down and found depressed into the ground.
Allen’s attorneys revealed that no photographs or video evidence reportedly exist showing the cartridge being removed from the ground at the crime scene.
The sticks removed from atop the girls’ bodies were not collected for testing, Page said. When asked why, the investigator said that he has never collected DNA evidence of value from branches.
When Page was asked if a sexual assault forensic exam, commonly called a rape kit, was performed on the girls, the investigator said he assumed a test was conducted during the autopsy but was unaware as he did not attend the autopsy.

I wondered how they could’ve missed the bullet in the beginning and then picked it up later. But that wasn’t the truth I guess?

Delphi murders: Day 3 of testimony includes graphic crime scene photos

Monday marked the third day of testimony in the Delphi murders trial.

Judge Fran Gull cautioned on Saturday that Monday’s testimony would be lengthy. She wrapped up Saturday’s proceedings early as a result.

Monday’s session included testimony from Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy Darron Giancola, the first deputy to arrive at the scene, and Sgt. Jason Page, a crime scene investigator with Indiana State Police.
The state entered more than 40 crime scene photos into evidence. The photos included shots of the general area as well as closeups of both Abby Williams and Libby German.

The images showed Abby Williams was dressed while Libby German was not. Abby’s clothes appeared to be damp. Blood stains were visible on the girls, the ground and nearby trees.

Both girls had suffered lacerations to their throats. Abby’s body was three to five feet away from Libby’s, according to the images.

The day was but if it's anything like here, it still likely froze that night and morning unless it was a VERY rare Feb day where the temp stayed up like that at night, and that's not very common. If I get some time and can find the lows for that day in Delphi, or if anyone can I am betting it froze that night and was still frozxe at least when they STARTED searching in the morning. By the time they found them it may not have been, hard to say, it depends if the following day was also warmer than usual. Also 40 is't enough to quickly unthaw an entire winter's worth of freezing. in a few short hours of one day.

Why in the H would news be pushing the O thing when it is not being used? Dumbarses. I wouldn't be watching those that do, I know that.

Was the jury may allowed for the last time before being sequestered to see their families, is that what you mean?

Delphi murders: Defense seeks to prohibit testimony on audio from infamous ‘Bridge Guy’ video

Defense attorneys for Delphi murders suspect Richard Allen seek to prohibit testimony about the contents of a video recovered from Libby German’s phone.

The video, a key piece of evidence in the Delphi killings, was taken on Feb. 13, 2017. Investigators obtained it from Libby German’s after she and her friend Abby Williams were found dead.

Investigators extracted audio from the video and released an infamous still of the man who would come to be known as “Bridge Guy.” Police later released a short video clip of the man walking.

The defense said the state planned to introduce audio and video enhancements of the video recovered from Libby German’s phone into evidence.

One enhancement contains a phrase uttered by one of the victims, the motion said, while another contains an audio clip of a man speaking. Both are repeated on a loop, according to the motion, and are “very difficult to understand.”

The defense is asking the court to prohibit the state from eliciting testimony concerning the contents of the words contained in the clips.

The defense argued that interpreting words and sounds is “speculative” and that the enhancements were “investigatory tools.”

Very hard day for the families (other than for RA I guess) and the jurors with seeing such photos.

What the heck are they on about now with the recording? Psheesh.
