Maya “May” Millete, 39, was last seen Thursday evening in her Chula Vista home near the San Miguel Ranch area, according to her loved ones. Family and friends said her car is still at her home and her phone has been going to voicemail since her disappearance.

Hospitals, jails and morgues have been contacted by the woman’s kin, but they said she has not been found at any of those locations.

Maya and Larry Millete are high school sweethearts married for 21 years with three children — ages 4, 9, and 11.

Maya has been missing from her Chula Vista home since last week. Millete says they had argued the night before.

"We had problems this year, up and downs," Millete told ABC 10News.

He said his wife has left before for the night to blow off steam, but he became worried when she didn't show up for their daughter's birthday on Sunday.

"If she didn't have her car, a friend would have to pick her up. That's the only reason I was like, 'maybe she's wine tasting or hiking with a friend,'" says Millete.

Maya works as a defense contractor at Naval Base San Diego and didn't show up for work on Monday.

"I called her boss, she didn't even log in. And that's the other alarming part, because work for her is like a party ... that's her outlet," Millete says.

Millete says he will continue to search, anxiously waiting.

Quite a bit of telling circumstantial evidence it sounds like...

He was using "spellcasters"... That's interesting and a new one...

Maya Millete's husband is charged with her murder after SWAT team stormed his home: DA reveals missing mom-of-three's spouse tried to have a SPELL cast on her so she wouldn't leave him but the last call she made before disappearing was to a divorce lawyer

  • Police in Chula Vista, California, arrested Larry Millete for the murder of wife May, who was last seen alive on January 7
  • On the day of her disappearance May had written a post on Facebook asking for advice about a divorce lawyer, and her final call was to make an appointment
  • Larry was arrested on Tuesday morning at around 11am after officers and FBI agents swarmed family's home
  • On Tuesday evening the DA said Larry used 'spell casters' to try and put a hex on Maya so she would be incapacitated in an accident and not leave him
  • Larry Millete was named a person of interest in May's disappearance in July
  • May's body has never been recovered and police say it could be hundreds of miles from the family home
  • Larry disappeared for 11 hours on January 8, without his cell phone, and switched his GPS on 2.5 hours from the house

On Tuesday afternoon Summer Stephan, the district attorney, said that Larry had tried to put a curse on his wife as the relationship deteriorated and she began talking about wanting a divorce.

'Extensive search warrants uncovered a trail of things that were happening, that were of great concern,' Stephan told a press conference outside the Chula Vista Police Department.

'Larry was trying to hold on to May.

'He resorted to contacting spell casters, who would be asked to make May stay in the relationship.

'In December he was asking for May to become incapacitated, to be in an accident and have broken bones so she could stay at home.'

Stephan said that May's last phone call was made on January 7, when she spoke to a divorce lawyer and set a date for an appointment on January 12.

The last message that May sent was at 8:15pm on January 7, when she used Facebook Messenger to contact her family.

A few hours earlier, in the afternoon of January 7, Larry had sent a text message which read: 'I think she wants me to snap and I am shaking inside ready to snap.'

May's phone activity stopped at 1:25am on January 8.

'Larry's messages to the spell caster turned from wanting to keep May to wanting to punish a man he blamed for the failed relationship,' said Stephan.

Larry has been charged with one count of murder, on or around January 7, and one count of possession of an illegal weapon.

Larry was a known gun fanatic, who had been ordered to give up his guns.

'He had not turned over one of those weapons, a .40 calibre gun, and it remains outstanding today,' said Stephan.

She said investigators were still actively seeking the body, and May's sister Maricris, who raised the initial alarm, made a tearful appeal on Tuesday afternoon for help.

A few minutes ago several officers climbed a ladder to over the back fence if Maya’s back yard. They were searching around trees and such. They’re done.
Have no idea what they were looking for.

We watched the press conference and it was so sad. Maya’s sister was there and as soon as they said they’d arrested Larry for maya’s murder, she broke down. You couldn’t help but cry too.

I have to wonder what areas he’s familiar with it take about eight hours or less to get to?

Have they said if the grandparents were able to get temporary custody of the children?
They wouldn’t say where the children are. All they would say is “the children are safe.”

I doubt the grandparents have custody as Maya’s family didn’t even know about the arrest until after the fact. They rushed from their home to be here for the news conference.

I have to wonder what areas he’s familiar with it take about eight hours or less to get to?
They said he had up to a two and a half hour distance... They figure this as he GPSd towards home or something to get directions and it was 2.5 hours... However, there is the possibility in my mind he did that intentionally and only when he was back in a certain distance... I'm not real clear on it...

Have they said if the grandparents were able to get temporary custody of the children?
They made a point of saying that first and foremost priority and plan was they made sure the children were safe, out of there, away, taken care of or there was a plan, before they took him in. There were no hints as to who they are with.

I doubt sadly they could send them right to a relative of hers... I think there would have to be some court action, action by CPS or something to do that just based on some other cases... Hard to say though...

Family of Maya Millete pleads for answers after husband Larry's arrest

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — The family of Maya Millete was pleading for answers on Wednesday, one day after Larry Millete, Maya's husband was arrested on suspicion of her murder.
"I haven't really wrapped my head around it," Maricris Tabalanza-Drouaillet, Maya Millete’s sister said. "It's still new. Even though it's been nine months that we've been trying to look for my sister. One of the neighbors called us because they saw activity at Larry's house. They didn't know what was going on, 'It could be another search warrant,' they said. But there was a tactical team that surrounded the house."

Ten minutes later, Maricris said she got a call from Chula Vista Police Chief Roxanna Kennedy that Larry Millete had been arrested.
"That was heartbreaking to hear,” Maricris said.
“That was hard to hear. I was standing there when she took the call. And her face changed, her attitude changed. Then she started crying," Richard Drouaillet, Maricris’ husband and Maya’s brother-in-law shared.

The couple said now their focus shifts to the next phase in this tragedy.
"Our goal is to find and bring her home, my sister. That's been our main focus," said Maricris.
They also want to reconnect with Maya’s children who have been staying with Larry Millete’s family after a court order.
"We have to follow the rules of the court. We as a family really wanted to be with the kids because - they're my sisters. And they're the only connection we have," Maricris said.

Despite their grief, Maricris and Richard wanted to thank the community for the outpouring of support they’ve received.
"It gives me strength that I'm not alone, that we're not alone, that the family is not alone. That there's people out there supporting us. I don't think we could have made it this far without them," Maricris said.
However, she said it's not over and Maya still needs your help.
"Continue to help us. Continue the prayers," said Maricris. "We're moving mountains. Continue sending us the messages because it gives us strength."
News 8 asked Maricris what message she had for Larry Millete now that he’s been arrested on suspicion of her sister’s murder. To that, Maricris shared:
"He's our family. He's been a brother-in-law to me. I loved him as my brother-in-law for 20 years. My sister loved him. We're praying for him. I hope that he has a change of heart and lets me know where my sister is."

New details from arrest warrant for Larry Millete, husband of missing Chula Vista mother Maya Millete

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — New details emerged from an arrest warrant released Wednesday in the case against Larry Millete, the man accused of killing his missing Chula Vista wife, May "Maya" Millete.

The Chula Vista Police Department stated in the arrest warrant that in the days leading up to January 7, 2021, the day May went missing, she was taking steps to divorce her husband and that Larry was determined to stop her.

The eight-page arrest warrant laid out how investigators say they arrived at the conclusion there's no evidence May left on her own, or that she had the financial means to do so.

It details how the marriage deteriorated between 2020 and 2021, and states Larry discovered May had an affair.

Prosecutors allege that Larry had become obsessed with his wife's whereabouts. He was paranoid she was going to leave him.

In November 2020, the warrant states Larry emailed May an article entitled "What Men want from Their Wives."

She replied: "How about maybe you focus on also what women want from their husbands? All these things you send me are just about you which further solidifies the whole idea that you really think I'm the problem and that if you could only fix me everything will be ok."

Investigators state Larry started showing up at May's job unannounced to see if she was meeting with another man.

They say they found evidence he also googled things like "plant you take to never wake up" and drugs such as Rohypnol, the so-called date rape drug.

According to the warrant, family members described Larry's behavior as "controlling" and "stalker-like."

Investigators say Larry emailed spellcasters daily to try to get May to fall back in love with him, but eventually, those emails turned violent. One from December 31 states "Can you hex to have her hurt enough that she will have to depend on me and need my help. She's only nice to me when she needs me or sick. Thanks again. Maybe an accident or broken bone."

The warrant also revealed May had confided in a friend about her marital issues, revealing one time in the past Larry had choked her until she passed out.

January 6, investigators say May stated to a friend via text "I told him I'm filing for divorce whether he likes it or not. I'm done trying to make it amicable for the sake of the kids."

Missing Maya Millete's husband Larry choked her until she passed out, Googled date rape drugs: warrant

Larry Millete displayed increasingly erratic behavior before allegedly murdering his wife in January 2021, Googling the date-rape drug "Rohypnol" and inquiring about finding someone to hurt a man he believed Maya Millete was having an affair with, according to an arrest warrant.

Law enforcement stormed the Milletes' Chula Vista home Tuesday shortly before noon and took Larry into custody on charges of murder and illegal possession of an assault weapon. He was originally named a person of interest in his wife's disappearance in July.

Maya disappeared from their home Jan. 7, the same day she made an appointment with a divorce attorney for the following week after at least a year of marriage troubles.

"There is no evidence to suggest that [Maya] left and disappeared of her own accord or that she had the financial means to do so," Jesse Vicente, a detective with the Chula Vista Police Department, wrote in the warrant, obtained by CBS8. "Rather, the investigation has revealed that Larry had an overwhelming motive to prevent his wife from divorcing him."

After searching Larry's phone, law enforcement concluded that he had "a frantic, desperate, unbalanced mindset coupled with violent and sometimes homicidal ideation."

Maya once confided in a friend that Larry choked her until she passed out.

During a New Year’s trip to Glamis, California, in January 2021, Larry asked about finding someone to hurt the man that he thought Maya was having an affair with.
