Maya “May” Millete, 39, was last seen Thursday evening in her Chula Vista home near the San Miguel Ranch area, according to her loved ones. Family and friends said her car is still at her home and her phone has been going to voicemail since her disappearance.

Hospitals, jails and morgues have been contacted by the woman’s kin, but they said she has not been found at any of those locations.

Maya and Larry Millete are high school sweethearts married for 21 years with three children — ages 4, 9, and 11.

Maya has been missing from her Chula Vista home since last week. Millete says they had argued the night before.

"We had problems this year, up and downs," Millete told ABC 10News.

He said his wife has left before for the night to blow off steam, but he became worried when she didn't show up for their daughter's birthday on Sunday.

"If she didn't have her car, a friend would have to pick her up. That's the only reason I was like, 'maybe she's wine tasting or hiking with a friend,'" says Millete.

Maya works as a defense contractor at Naval Base San Diego and didn't show up for work on Monday.

"I called her boss, she didn't even log in. And that's the other alarming part, because work for her is like a party ... that's her outlet," Millete says.

Millete says he will continue to search, anxiously waiting.

Maya's parents were on Court TV today or yesterday. So heartbreaking and no they don't have custody of the g-children. Larry's parents have then. Maya's parents are hoping now it will be easier getting visitation rights.
That just seems so wrong. I get his parents did not do this but he is the reason these kids are motherless and I think preference should be given to her family BUT I get it's not how things work.... Just seems wrong...

I hope to watch this when I get time. Are they thinking of going for custody or her sister doing so? I would think the sister being more of an age and close to their mother would be a preferable choice to either set of grandparents, if that is, they can take it on.

“Today we’re going to go to the Anza-Borrego area which is all dessert," said Richard Drouillet, Maya's brother-in-law. "There are 1,000 trails out there but we need to start somewhere. We’re going to start in the east south part of it and in the coming weeks move northeast.”

Investigators revealed this week that they believe larry possibly left Maya's body somewhere about two and a half hours drive or closer from his home, on the night she disappeared in January.

"We don't want to go on and on," said Maricris. "We just hope today will be the last day. We’re hoping and praying. But we won't quit until we find her.”

‘This isn’t over for us:’ Maya Millete family continues search for missing mom

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Maya Millete’s family is thanking their supporters as they continue their search for the missing mom of three as her husband is in jail on suspicion of murder.

Maya Millete’s sister and brother-in-law joined FOX 5 Monday morning to talk about ongoing efforts to find Maya’s body as more volunteer searchers are needed.

“This isn’t over for us,” Richard Drouillet. “We’re searching the desert areas. We’re starting east from the Chula Vista area, about 2 1/2 hours out.”

Searches near the Anza-Borrego Desert continued this weekend. The Drouillets say they’re targeting areas Maya and Larry visited in the past based on a timeline provided by the district attorney’s office last week.

Dozens of friends, family and community members gathered Friday night to pay tribute to Maya, the first time the group came together after Larry was arrested. He has pleaded not guilty to murder and one count of illegal possession of an assault weapon.

“The lord has given us angels to help us go through these trials,” Maricris Drouillet said of the family’s supporters. “The community is telling us we’re not alone in this.”

Maya Millete’s family praying Larry Millete will lead police to remains: 'We believe he's not that evil”

Larry Millete pleaded not guilty last week to murdering his wife, who disappeared from their Chula Vista home more than nine months ago, but her family is now praying that he'll reverse course and lead authorities to her remains.

"We're praying he'll do it for his kids, that he'll let them know where mommy is," Maya Millete's older sister, Maricris Drouaillet, told Fox News on Monday. "We believe he's not that evil and hopefully he'll have a change of heart."

I have to give it to Maricris for her optimism. I'm sure it's hard to see him as a monster when he was in their family for so many years.

My guess though is he will never do that. He can't say he's not guilty on one hand and know where her body is on the other and admit to it. Maybe once he is convicted, there might be a slim chance if he thinks it could sway sentencing. Or maybe with some type of plea deal prior.

I do pray she gets her wish and that the family is told where Maya is or finds her so they can bring her home.

Yeah no defense attorney would ever let their client lead LE to the body of the person they're accused of killing. Unless it's part of a plea deal or pre-sentencing.
I'd like to believe he's "not that evil". But unfortunately I don't.

Ditto. 100 percent. I am so past believing in good in people or if one gives them a chance, they might "change" or do the right thing, people that have proved over and over what they are. And that is the way this husband strikes me. Nothing in this entire case shows to me any concern about the kids or her family. And of course, of his wife either... I fully believe he murdered her.

I think what might be more likely if she is somewhere she will ever be found is that maybe she will be found at some point and now they have or likely know a little more of what law enforcement knows as to like the radius of time, how far he could have traveled, etc.

I do hope they get to bring her home.

Yeah, I don't have much confidence that he ever will either. We see his type over and over. Sadly. It's the last way to control too and it's a further way of hurting her loved ones and I don't know why, but such types seem to get a kick out of doing that and not even will they come clean for their own kids. Their own hide also is the only hide that matters to them. I do get that the sister I think has trouble still believing he cares so little when he has been in their family so long.

Larry Millete loses jail phone privileges after 9 hours of calls to kids

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — A judge has restricted Larry Millete’s jail phone privileges after saying he amassed hours of time in calls with his kids despite being ordered not to do so.

Millete, accused of murdering his wife, Maya, who has been missing for nine months, appeared for his second hearing of the case in a Chula Vista courtroom Wednesday afternoon.

A prosecutor said he had made over 129 calls since being taken into custody last week. At least nine hours of those calls were to his children, and that flew in the face of a court order not to contact them, according to Judge Maryann D’Addedzio.

“Let me explain what a court order is. It’s not a suggestion. It’s not a request. It’s an order,” the judge said Wednesday.

Larry’s attorney, Bonita Martinez, told the court that her client hadn’t understood the order, which was read aloud at his initial appearance last week. At the time, it wasn’t immediately clear to journalists covering the trial who the criminal protective order referred to, because no subjects were publicly named.

GOOD for this judge. Not scared to come down on him violating a court order as he should. The Morphew case could use one like him imo.

Larry does not think he has to follow a court order and I hope now it means he has no phone privileges at all.

‘I think he would hurt the kids’: DA says Maya Millete warned friends

Missing Chula Vista mother Maya Millete told a friend that her husband might hurt their children to get back at her for leaving him, according to a new court filing by prosecutors.

That revelation and others, found in the district attorney’s request to deny Larry Millete bail last week, provided the latest insight into the couple’s crumbling marriage in the time before Maya vanished nine months ago. Larry is behind bars on suspicion of killing his wife, which he denies.

According to the filing, a friend told police that in December 2020, Maya made the statement: “I don’t think he would hurt me, but I think he would hurt the kids to get back at me.”

On another occasion, the DA’s office says Maya warned of Larry’s capacity for anger. “Larry does have a scary temper,” she wrote in a June text message, according to the filing. “Nothing the people outside of the family have seen.”

The attorneys also wrote that Maya had “strategized how she might serve (Larry) with divorce papers because she was concerned about his reaction.”

“She considered going somewhere and then having him served, and even made a contingency plan to stay at a friend’s vacant condo, but May did not want to leave her kids,” prosecutors wrote, using a nickname the mom was also known by. “She didn’t want the kids to be with the defendant when he found out she was seeking a divorce.”

The DA’s office also claims Larry had used the children to keep tabs on their mother. “Witnesses reported to police that on at least one occasion, the defendant used one of his children’s cell phones to track May’s location,” the request reads.

It's about time this man's ugly colors come out. Been hinted at and suspected all along...

I wonder since he was just in trouble for calling his kids when he was not supposed to, HIS parents must have allowed it no? That should one would hope give Maya's family a serious reason to seek custody and for the Court to possibly remove the kids from Larry's parents...

Hmmmmm…. I hope he wasn’t using that time to maintain control over the kids. I don’t know what kind of person he is, but that’s just common place for domestic abuse.

I figure that's exactly what he was doing. I truly hope this can possibly be used to change custody, his parents have to have allowed these calls or at best not been supervising the children when they took the calls. Hard on the kids but sadly this is and will likely continue to be hard on the kids no matter what the arrangement. Their mother gone and their father to be tried for the mother's murder...

He was telling his daughter to watch some movie that had people in jail being mistreated and such and told her that’s what it’s like for him. He was also saying bad things about Maya’s family.
He’s a real gem. NOT!’

Seriously?? What a sick individual. Worry your child about dad when they are powerless to get dad out but just let them make themselves sick with concern of what will happen to him in jail. Not surprised he is trashing Maya's family or said the other either really though. He is one self centered pig and as immature as they come to do that to his own children.

To me this is further reason for a judge to change custody--the only way for Maya's family to have a chance and not have the children poisoned against them is if they are away from Larry and his family. I truly hope they seek it.

More evidence in my mind that he could kill his wife.
