DORENA, Ore. -- Search efforts have grown to find 27-year-old Michael Bryson who went missing early Wednesday morning.

Bryson was camping at the Hobo Camp Campground with friends last week when he wandered away from the site Wednesday morning and that was the last time he was seen.

The search is not isolated to just the campground and surrounding areas. Friends have deployed into cities all over western Oregon looking for any leads that could point them to where he might be.

His family said the longest they've ever gone without hearing from him is two days.

"It's very rare that five days in he would not have reached out to mom, dad, or sister," his uncle said.

The effort to find Bryson has grown beyond just those who knew him.

A facebook group with more than 2,000 members is dedicated to finding the young man.

The man's dad said Bryson doesn't know a stranger. He said his son was kind and friendly to everyone he met. He said he hopes that's the energy that brings him home.

A $10,000 reward is available for any information leading to his discovery, all which was donated to fuel efforts to find him.

We had a discussion, and I think it was regarding Michael’s disappearance, about how people who are on certain kinds of drugs can feel like they need to take their clothes off for whatever reason. Someone linked it too.
I remember that discussion and how that does occur with certain drugs and it is in my mind too. I guess though there too it depends how far away this was, when, would he still have been under the influence of something, did he strip or pile his clothes, or hide them, was it all his clothing, etc.? Maybe there is more info but for me, I don't know enough info or have not seen enough detail about it to really lean one way or the other. If he did strip himself, I guess then we have him somewhere from there moving nude, whether dying out there somewhere in the elements and he just has not been found yet, or whether he was picked up, etc. In other words, it is still unclear...

Some heroin addicts do not bathe so they get a better high because it doesn't seep through the skin so much.

A year later, the search continues for Michael Bryson

A year after his disappearance in the Lane County Wilderness, the search for Michael Bryson continues.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office says Michael’s case is still assigned to a detective, and a recent search of the area didn’t turn up any new clues.

“We have an extensive case-packet and the case remains active,” said LCSO Sgt. Tom Speldrich.
