HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — As of Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the Sumner County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the picture of the young boy in North Carolina is not Sebastian Rogers.

Law enforcement in Tennessee and North Carolina coordinated efforts in the ongoing search for Sebastian Rogers after a photo of a young boy began circulating online.

Authorities have now vetted the photograph taken of a teen who resembled Sebastian.

The photo was taken at a visitor center in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina a week ago Saturday.

A woman rushing to meet family took the snapshot thinking the boy resembled Sebastian and later after looking at it closely she contacted authorities.

Since then investigators worked to confirm an identity. On May 7, the Sumner County Sheriff's Office released a statement about the photograph.

Sebastian disappeared from his Hendersonville home more than two months ago, leaving barefoot in the middle of the night with nothing but a flashlight.

"This is the system we use to track all of our searchers," said Ken Weidner with with Sumner County EMA.

A massive search effort of the surrounding neighborhood found not a trace of the 15-year-old autistic boy. Detectives have not ruled out the possibility of foul play or that Sebastian was taken or left the area.

Eric Craddock, chief deputy with the Sumner County sheriff heads up the investigation.

"We are doing everything we can do...every time a tip comes down we follow up," said Craddock.

The sheriff's office and TBI have received dozen of photos and reports of potential sightings.

To date, all vetted and none confirmed. The latest tip being the photo from North Carolina.

What did Sebastian's family think of the photo? His grandmother said she is 50/50 on whether it might be him.

Tips in the Sebastian case can be sent to 1-800-TBI-FIND.

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Jeeps and motorcycles revved through Hendersonville Sunday afternoon, working to make sure efforts to find missing 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers don’t go silent.

“Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers is out there somewhere, and my goal is to find him,” the teen’s father, Seth Rogers, said.

It’s been nearly three months since Sebastian was last seen at his mother and stepfather’s home, just around the corner from where he attended classes at Beech High School. For Sebastian’s father, the last 12 weeks have felt like a real-life nightmare.

“If I get sleep, I have dreams of my son. When I wake up, he’s not here,” Seth said.

Chris Hewlett with the 615 Boyz Motorcycle Club recalled meeting Seth several months ago in a field, feeling drawn to help search with his own son in mind.

“He went to Beech High School; he lived right there, less than a half a mile from here, just like Sebastian,” Hewlett said. “My son’s autistic, just like Sebastian, and if I show you a picture of my son, he looks a lot like Sebastian, and it hit home. I told my wife, I said, ‘This could have been my son, just as easy.'”

Hewlett said in a matter of roughly two weeks, he gained the support of many wanting to join in the ride to help keep Sebastian’s case alive.

“It blew up absolutely almost overnight, that we were scrambling, wasn’t ready,” Hewlett laughed. “We had people calling us: ‘Hey, I’m bringing so and so’s crew with us’…I couldn’t tell you how many nights I sat in my living room, just overwhelmed by the support.”

The event on Sunday, May 19 saw turnout from bikers who came from as far as Texas and California, along with others who requested the ride be livestreamed so they could watch from Ireland and Australia.

Wherever Sebastian might be, Seth wants him to know about the army of people still out looking for him.

“It gives me hope that my son’s case isn’t going to become a cold case,” Seth said.

Seth recently drove to North Carolina to follow up on a tip about a possible sighting of Sebastian. Although the tip did not pan out to be him, Seth said it gave him hope.

Sebastian Rogers’ father calls on FBI to take over investigation

As the search for missing teen Sebastian Rogers approaches the three-month mark, his father, Seth, is calling for a fresh set of eyes on his son’s case.

During a vigil for Sebastian held Sunday, May 19, Seth shared several of his concerns with News 2. Although the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and FBI are assisting in the case, the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is the lead investigating agency.

On Sunday, Seth said he would like to see the case turned over to the FBI as the lead agency. In order for the FBI to take over the case, they would need to be requested by either the SCSO or the District Attorney’s Office.

“I don’t sense a state of urgency from them; it’s not their kid, it’s mine. You know, this is a child of Sumner County,” Seth said. “I tell people when you see something, say something, and then they turn around and they tell me that they see something and they never get a response. They call the sheriff’s department, and a lady called me, she got my number, she was like, ‘I waited over four hours and nobody showed up.’”

News 2 reached out to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office with several of Seth’s concerns. In response to asking if the SCSO would turn the case over to the FBI, they offered the following statement:

“We share your urgency and concern about this investigation. The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with our team of investigators, has been diligently working on this case since day one. We are following all leads and gathering evidence. While we cannot disclose specific details of the ongoing investigation, please be assured that we are leaving no stone unturned to resolve this case. We have been working closely with various law enforcement partners, including the FBI, since the start of this case.”

News 2 asked District Attorney Ray Whitley’s office if he wished to comment on Seth’s concern into the investigation. We were told he didn’t wish to comment due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

News 2 circled back, asking if he would consider requesting the FBI to take the lead on the investigation. News 2 was told, “As stated, this is an active investigation. He cannot comment on anything further at this time.” https://www.wkrn.com/news/local-new...hires-private-investigators/?ipid=promo-link1

I get it but wouldn't be so sure they aren't on it. However if someone called with a real tip and they did not respond, that is concerning. Understandable as a parent that nothing can be good enough or fast enough and maybe he is right. They don't share all so hard to say.

Sebastian Rogers still missing three months later

Sunday marked three months since 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers went missing from his mother’s Hendersonville home.

The teen with autism went missing Feb. 26 and hasn’t been seen since. Authorities that have searched around his home and beyond have found no signs of Sebastian, nor has he been seen on surveillance cameras, according to police.

Investigators continue to follow up on tips they receive, but the investigation – for the most part – has been at a dead end.

Sebastian Rogers’ biological father plans more searches 3 months after teen disappeared

Ninety-one days, or nearly 2,200 hours, have passed since 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers was reported missing from his family’s home on Feb. 26 before an AMBER Alert was later released.

Since then, search efforts and investigations have progressed in Sumner County.

Sebastian’s biological father, Seth Rogers, told News 2 the goal is the same as the first day he was reported missing: find his son.

“I need people to be positive,” Seth said. “Positive that we can find him, positive that we can find him tomorrow, you know, I need people to keep the faith with me. I need people to continue to pray that we find him.”

Rogers said he would search the area for Sebastian with a close group of people this week.

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office has continued to investigate, saying last Monday in part: “While we cannot disclose specific details of the ongoing investigation, please be assured that we are leaving no stone unturned to resolve this case. We have been working closely with various law enforcement partners, including the FBI, since the start of this case.”

One hundred-day milestone since Sebastian Rogers disappeared

An unfortunate milestone, as the search for a missing teen reaches one hundred days.

Sebastian Rogers disappeared from his Hendersonville home more than three months ago.

It's a case so many of us still follow.

Make no mistake, Rogers missing is not at this point a cold case.

The TBI, the FBI, and the Sumner County sheriff all say it remains active.

But, authorities also say they are no closer to solving the mystery of what happened to Sebastian.

One hundred days since Sebastian disappeared is a milestone but Craddock says no one is giving up.

Unfortunately, the number of reported tips or potential sightings has decreased in recent weeks.

There are no more random search efforts by authorities.

But based on the investigation and search efforts to date, they do have a body of work to review.

"In the absence of information what we continue to do is go back over everything we've done once and give it a new set of eyes."

Maybe someone with a fresh outlook will notice something in the search area that others have missed.

In the meantime, Craddock says they keep in touch with Sebastian's parents who continue to cooperate having talked with them just this past week.

Everyone is frustrated over the lack of new leads, which unfortunately still results in crazy conspiracy theories.

"The rumor mill on social media has done nothing to advance this case."

When something significant happens in the case we'll hear about it first from authorities and not social media armchair detectives.

For now, investigators say all options still remain on the table including the possibility of foul play.

(NewsNation) — Seth Rogers, the biological father of missing Sebastian Rogers, says finding his son “doesn’t feel like a shared goal” with Sebastian’s mother and stepfather.

In an emotional interview Wednesday with NewsNation’s Ashleigh Banfield, Rogers said, “There has been no contact between me and the Proudfoots. It’s like I’m the only one that misses my son.”

In hopes that his son is out there, Rogers pleaded: “I need you to get away from wherever you’re near. Get to a phone. My phone is still on, son. I need you home.”

<snip>

So far, there is no evidence of foul play connected to Sebastian’s disappearance, Sumner County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Craddock said, though he added that authorities are not ruling anything out.

Seth Rogers and his spokesperson, Tony Mathis, continue to call on the FBI to get involved.

“It’s only gonna go somewhere if Sumner County asks for them to take the case over,” Mathis said on “Banfield.” “I just want them to answer one simple question for Seth. He deserves an answer to this question. Are they closer today than they were in February? If the answer to that is no, then I think it’s only logical that the case be elevated.”

It's been obvious to me from the start that dad is doing what families do when there is a pretty good idea of what and who but you can't know for sure yet or say so.

I do NOT believe mom and stepdad.

And yes, if they are no closer to finding him or an arrest if foul play or even determining WHICH it is, then elevate it. This sh*t about not involving state or fed resources and agencies has to stop. Justice is what matters, not your darned LE ego and territorialism.

Can't know for sure but some things are very clear in this case and one is that there is no proof he EVER left home. And as dad says, he seems to be the only one who cares.

‘He is alive’: Sebastian Rogers’ biological father continues search efforts

A new search for missing Sumner County teen Sebastian Rogers was held Thursday.

His biological father, Seth Rogers, is making sure he scouts out every possible location where his son could be.

Seth told News 2 that he is not sharing a lot about the search due to worry over continued harassment.

“People think that we are not searching anymore,” Seth said. “Well, they can think what they want. Our searches are private.”

However, on Thursday, July 11, Seth resumed his search efforts. He told News 2 he took a brief break in searching to get a herniated disc repaired, but after a successful surgery, Seth said nothing is stopping him from searching for his son.

“Now I don’t really have much stopping me from getting out there and doing what I need to do,” Seth explained.

“There’s a refocus,” Tony Mathis, Seth’s spokesperson, said. “We are trying to zero in on more specific information that we are gathering.”

According to Seth, over 40 searchers, vetted by his private investigator on Thursday morning, eliminated possible land and water locations where Sebastian could be in Middle Tennessee.

He said volunteer searchers privy to his continued search efforts are limited due to people following and searchers being harassed at other events.

“We had people following my searchers around who were just handing out fliers,” Seth described. “It doesn’t bode well for people who are trying to help to be put in hostile situations.”

In Thursday’s search effort, Seth said the goal is not to find Sebastian.

“I think that he is alive, but the search that we are doing today is a recovery effort,” Seth explained. “And I am praying that we don’t find him because he is alive.”

“I think that these searches are targeted with more specific information, and we are just hoping that we can get out and clear areas,” Mathis said. “As Seth said earlier, we are hoping to find nothing, but we do have to clear areas out.”

Seth added some people still don’t know Sebastian is even missing.

“I am going to continue to hand out fliers until everybody knows,” Seth said.

“A lot of people have been kind enough to continue to plaster the community with fliers,” Mathis explained. “But we are getting messages that people are stopping in and asking those to be taken down at businesses. They are actually stopping and taking them off the telephone poles….we just can’t wrap our brains around why you would take a flier down for a 15-year-old child that is still missing.”

Seth and Mathis told News 2 they have one unanswered question for the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office.

“We think it is a valid question,” Mathis explained. “We think it is a fair question, and that question is: Are you any closer today to finding Sebastian Rogers than you were on Feb. 26?”

For Seth, the answer to that question is no.

“My son is not here, so we are nowhere closer,” Seth expressed.https://www.wkrn.com/news/local-new...s-after-teens-disappearance/?ipid=promo-link2

why anyone would harass searchers or take down flyers is beyond me. it's awful that anyone would do such.

the one question for the SCSD is a good one, are they ANY closer to finding him or known what happened....

imo as I've said there's absolutely no evidence he ever left home. they say he did and perhaps he did but not a shred of evidence can be found it seems confirming that.

also only one parent seems to be searching. or ever has.

not saying anything is a certainty but I find this all pretty notable.

‘She is dangerous’: Mother of missing Tennessee teen files order of protection against YouTuber

The mother of a missing Middle Tennessee teenager said she’s being stalked by a YouTuber who’s covering the case.

Sebastian Rogers disappeared five months ago from his family’s home in Hendersonville.

Interest in the case has been nationwide, but now Sebastian’s mother, Katie Proudfoot, indicates it’s gone too far. She just got a temporary order of protection against a YouTuber by the name of ‘Bullhorn Betty.’

Since Sebastian was first reported missing on Feb. 26, his mother, Katie, and stepfather, Chris Proudfoot, have largely remained out of the media. But despite maintaining their privacy, Katie said she is being stalked and harassed.

The petition for an order of protection was filed last week in Sumner County with the sheriff’s office.

According to that document, Katie said Andra Griffin, also known as ‘Bullhorn Betty,’ is inciting the public and her social media followers to aid in her stalking the Proudfoot family. Katie said Griffin had also accused the family of harming their son.

Katie is quoted saying in part, “She threatens us and posts ‘live’ while driving by our home.”

She also called the YouTuber “dangerous.”

“She is dangerous and is threatening my and my family’s safety and telling her followers to help and do the same,” one statement from Katie read.

“If it is from her, then that is absolutely a falsehood. They can go and look at all my ‘lives,'” Griffin said. “My ‘lives’ never come down off my channel. Driving on public property, on public roads, with a camera hanging out, there’s nothing unlawful about that. That happened over a month ago; it’s only the time I’ve been in the Hendersonville area.”

Griffin told News 2 she had not received the temporary protection order but said she was innocent of these accusations.

“It appears for her to get an ex parte order from everything I am reading, she would have to say I am an imminent threat to her life and I am in Florida,” Griffin said. “I have never laid eyes on this woman in the flesh. I have never reached out to her by phone, email, or text messages; I have never even responded to any of her Facebook posts. I haven’t talked to this lady.”

Griffin expressed that these accusations are just a distraction. “I don’t like the drama on the channel, and the more I resist it and keep it focused on Sebastian, the more these distractions keep coming up.”

“It’s all about Sebastian Rogers,” Griffin explained. “Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers. It’s not about Seth Rogers, Katie Proudfoot, or Christopher Proudfoot. It’s about where Sebastian Rogers is and how we can bring him home.”

A court hearing is set for Aug. 8 at the Sumner County Courthouse. Bullhorn Betty’s YouTube videos will be summarized for the DA’s office.

Until then, the document said Griffin could not come within 100 feet of Katie or her home.

Also coming up this month is a prayer vigil for Sebastian on Aug. 24 in Clarksville at 5 p.m. On Aug. 26, the sixth-month mark since Sebastian’s disappearance, Seth Rogers and other community members will gather in Sumner County to bring awareness to Sebastian and some of the unanswered questions.

Don't know the channel, never watched it but know the name. And I BELIEVE she is the one that was like outside the Laundrie's home constantly in Petito. There was another case or two as well, can't think of them offhand.

Ex parte stuff I do not agree with for the most part but that is its own subject so I will leave that. This is clear the parents have a temporary order which anyone can get almost automatically and then a hearing has to be held to see if a real order is warranted. That's how it is here and it certainly sounds that way in this matter in this state too.

If she is who I am thinking of I can't stand the woman but again have never watched her but have seen her in other news outside like the Laundries' home, etc. She is appropriately named or uses the correct name to say BULLHORN.

I was sickened by the sh*t with the Laundries even though I do not agree with their actions.

I often wondered where she got the money to go states away in more than that case, again I forget the others, hotel it, never work and do nothing but harass but yeah, I'd say she knows the legal parameters of what is a public sidewalk, etc. and not trespassing. She is sickening. Either her channel viewers fund her or she has a rich or hard working hub while she does nothing but do sh*t like this. She is obnoxious.

Even though I have questions in this case and doubts about the one set of parents, this stuff is out of bounds. BUT she probably is within the law on it, most likely. Again, she knows that and pushes it right up to it.

I am pretty sure I am thinking of the right person. I've never even had her channel come up to me on looking for someone to watch BUT she was ever present at the Laundries and in plenty of newscasts. IF I am thinking of the right person.

Another case may be Summer Wells or the West boys? I can't recall. She does this. Again even if you think someone guilty, you do NOT do this. You know even though we all embrace constitutional rights, sometimes it is used for the wrong things or pushes beyond what decent people would do. And believe me this woman knows exactly what boundaries she can go up to and push to the limit.

I wouldn't give her channel a glance if I ever came across it which I have not. She's talked to the cops before, like in the Petito case. Laundries called for help I believe more than once for what they were dealing with. But again she KNOWS the limits she can push.

You know there are cases like this one where someone is not charged but I think may be responsible and I say so. and whether anyone believes it or not, I feel guilty each time I do it. But that's as far as I would ever go. And I feel it no different than LE always looks at the people closest first and they may not have asked for it but it is just a reality.

What she does is an entirely different thing. It's not discussing a case, wondering if someone may be involved.

I hope they get their permanent order (usually a length of time, not forever), but I wouldn't count on it. She knows the boundaries and she will probably be represented or know her rights well.

She is sickening and disgusting.

Vinnie Politan Investigates: The Disappearance of Sebastian Rogers

Vinnie Politan discusses the mysterious disappearance of Sebastian Rogers with his guests, including the missing boy's father, Seth Rogers. (8/6/24)

Sebastian Rogers benefit to honor his passion for animals, six months after disappearance
A benefit event will honor Sebastian Rogers' love of animals, six months after the boy remains missing.

It's been nearly six months since 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers vanished from his home in Hendersonville, leaving his family and a community devastated, without any answers.

There's been little, if any, trace of the boy with autism which is still under an Amber Alert. But members of Sebastian's family, and many dedicated supporters, continue to search for answers.

His father, Seth Rogers, is organizing a motorcycle ride in Sebastian's honor on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Rogers said he's still receiving tips on Sebastian, and immediately sends them to the Sumner County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, while looking into all leads himself.

Rogers continues to organize private searches, and says the SCSO continues to canvass as well. Still heartbreakingly, no viable leads have come in so far, according to Sebastian's father.

"Law enforcement is still doing their searches," said Rogers. "They're keeping them private. I know they have a search group on standby. We have a search group on standby. We've definitely been through Sumner County. We've been through parts of Davidson County, all the way up to Kentucky. All the way down to Alabama."

On Saturday, Aug. 24, Sebastian's father says bikers, jeeps, four-by-fours and any supporters are all invited to meet up at the Fallen Brewery in Clarksville.

A benefit ride and vigil will follow. For a $25 donation per rider, supporters will get a t-shirt, bracelet and food.

Rogers said all of the proceeds will go to Mikaela's Mutt Motel dog rescue in Clarksville, to honor Sebastian's love of animals. However, he explains the event is really to continue awareness, keeping Sebastian in the public eye.

Investigators have remained pretty tight-lipped throughout this investigation, which launched after Sebastian is believed to have walked off from his home.

It's been high-profile, and contentious at times, particularly on social media.

The SCSO has held two wide-scale searches, and investigators say Sebastian's case is still very much ongoing.

Independent volunteers and other groups continue to search for Sebastian, as well as pass out flyers.

FBI offering $50K reward for info leading to missing Tennessee teen Sebastian Rogers

A $50,000 reward is being offered for information in the disappearance of 15-year-old Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers, who has been missing from Hendersonville for six months.

”Six months, one long nightmare,” Seth Rogers, Sebastian’s biological father said.

The FBI Memphis Field Office, Nashville Resident Agency announced Monday that anyone who provides “information leading to the location and return” of the missing teen “or to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his disappearance” could receive the reward.

“I appreciate the fact that my federal government stepped in where my local and state has failed,” Seth expressed. “Maybe someone will open their mouth.”

https://www.wkrn.com/news/local-new...ths-after-his-disappearance/?ipid=promo-link1
On Monday morning about 15 people with “Sebastian’s Army” gathered outside the office for answers or an update in the investigation.

”We would like to see a PIO and just to see some updates you know,” a participant with “Sebastian’s Army” said. “There’s no PIO involved and if you come up and you say, ‘Look, we are working the case. Unfortunately, we don’t have any leads.’”

“If I don’t keep pushing for people to do their job, my son will never be found,” Seth said. “With no communication, that is lack of trust; lack of trust means I have to do it myself or I have to have someone that I trust do it.”

News 2 reached out to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office for comment. At the time of this article, they had not responded.

This is a case of what ISN'T THERE.

There's absolutely not a shred of evidence this child ever left home.

It reminds me of some things in the West boys case, and they never left either, for sure not that night, all lies.

I might be wrong but I see no reason to believe the narrative at all this far. Not a single solitary one.
