Tennessee Amber Alert issued for missing teen out of Sumner County

Sumner County officials are asking everyone to be on the lookout as they continue their search for a missing and endangered teenager they say has autism.

An Amber Alert has been issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

"Carefully check your property… and any other locations where a child who enjoys hiding might be," the Sumner County Sheriff's Office has said.

Fifteen-year-old Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers was last seen on Monday "near Stafford Court in Hendersonville wearing a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants and glasses," the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said on X.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and investigators with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office held a meeting with the biological parents of Sebastian Rogers on Thursday.

Sumner County Sheriff Sonny Weatherford confirmed to WSMV4 that the meeting occurred but did not reveal any details on why the meeting happened or who was the lead during the meeting.

hmm. well the parents are still not lawyered up to where they are not talking which is good I guess. and may well be innocent.

it isn't my leaning but i'm sure not positive either.

there is NO evidence or video of him ANYWHERE. The whole little lights or hints of them in he back yard etc. seems to be nothing and b.s. made into more.

In Nancy's interview, there was a moment where it was clear stepdad even when miles away kind of dictated what she was to do. That struck me wrong. He strikes me wrong. The shoes strike me wrong. The fact bio dad doesn't indict them but doesn't clear them or comment and over time says a wee bit more says something to me.

They put on a good day, a good kid, no real problems and it doesn't SEEM that was the case and all was not easy and okay. Fact he wanted to go live with dad and dad said as much cannot be ignored. Of course any could be true, false or what one says vs. another but taking what I've seen and what we have.

I'm not sold one way or the other but I definitely don't lean towards he left home alive or of his own accord or with anyone else.

I think stepdad controls. Hints of it here and there. The first time I saw them and the first time I saw mom I felt her a truly heartbroken grief stricken mom and he possibly where he should be as a stepdad. That has changed over time for me though. And I knew not a thing at that point so watched with no info or bias. As I largely have since but my opinion has chaneged.

Could be right, could be wrong, don't know.

It also seems even though not said this was a marriage and family on the rocks.

again and I don't always promote her, nor am always fond, Nancy drilled into quite a bit with them.

So I wonder what the meeting was about. If anything at all...

Reminds me of when LE held meetings with "bio parents only" when Kyron went missing. Interesting.

“You -- Katie and Chris -- had a meeting with TBI today, did you find out any new information?” asked FOX 17 News reporter Kaitlin Miller.

Seth Rogers, Sebastian’s biological father, responded, “Not that I can discuss.”

Rogers says he still has hope that his son is alive. Rogers did raise another concern: he recently found out the Tennessee Department of Children's Services (DCS) has been called to Katie and Chris Proudfoot’s home in Hendersonville.

“That somebody somewhere dropped the ball, because I was never informed. I’m the biological father. I have joint legal joint physical custody,” Seth said.

Sebastian's stepfather, Chris Proudfoot, confirmed with FOX 17 News that DCS has been called to their home before, but adds that all those cases are closed. He says the only active case with DCS is Sebastian’s missing case.

FOX 17 News reached out to DCS for more information on these previous cases, but we have not heard back yet. We then asked Seth if any of the three parents were being investigated as potential suspects.

Seth said, “The investigation is still ongoing. We wouldn’t be cleared until the investigation is done, but currently from my understanding, they don’t have any information that would attach us to any wrongdoing.”

Hmm.

Proof of nothing but when someone has a long term now missing child, and it's over a month now, everything has significance and shouldn't be ignored imo. I can only figure he came to find this out from LE as he was never told prior.

Stepdad at least has had more than one thing to explain from talk of issues in a prior divorce and corporal punishment of Sebastian and now we have DCS in relation to one, both or all. And more than once. And again stepdad explains it as they are closed...

Don't get me wrong, they could have been called over nothing or from spite from someone, such does happen but put together with all else, pretty hard to ignore. The child is missing with nary a sign of him found yet.

He definitely should have at least been notified of those calls, whether unfounded or not.

This fits in with things said that came from those who knew of things where they were not so rosy at home with Sebastian and them to put it nicely. As he made it sound or they did in the first interview I saw anyhow.

Dad should have been told and I wonder what their excuse is for not telling him.

Yet dad said Sebastian wanted to and was going to come live with him and there must have been some reasons for that or possible problems he was aware of perhaps.

It has always seemed clear and obvious to me that there are things dad responsibly doesn't share or avoids when asked about mom and her hub, likely for the sake of the investigation is my guess. And we know which one is out looking for him.

Not that that proves anything but it is noticeable.

Death threats for what? Helping search? Smdh. That makes no sense.

So dad came away from TBI meeting feeling hopeful. Perhaps they are onto something else other than what I wonder about. I hope I'm wrong. I'm not set in it just see a lot that concerns and causes questions.

Who knows.

What kind of people are sending death threats over searching? That's just ridiculous. Some others who thought they were the important help and searchers and volunteered and noted and got ousted or what?

Don't even pretend to understand such, what matters is finding this boy and answers regardless.

I wonder if it's the actual Cajun Navy or the United Cajun Navy. The UCN is developing a bit of a less than stellar reputation.
Definitely the latter. The Cajun Navy has posted a few things on their Facebook about it.

Interesting thread here too.

Wow. So we have p*ssing matches at minimum. And there is a child missing. And DAD wanting their help. I don't do the SM crap but the bit I read here I trust not a one of them. Perhaps I have it wrong, perhaps I don't. I'm TIRED. It's interesting that I never recall hearing of either much until the recent college student Riley Strain. If anyone followed the AWP crap, there's good reason to doubt all. Even if claiming non profit or not. Far as I'm concerned all are suspect regardless these days. I just came from another thread where the highway patrol is not informing the sheriff or some such. Pi**ing match too rather than common goal?

Politics, ******** and fame or money making should NEVER be interfering with JUSTICE or finding someone missing but apparently and too much these days it is obvious it does.

Boy is that an idealistic thought these days I guess.

I don't understand this either.

I don't understand this either.
Well I can't recall if I read it here or heard it somewhere else but now supposedly the Cajun Navy isn't THE REAL Cajun Navy or there are two or some such.

Even so, I don't know why ANYONE would threaten people with death who are searching for a missing boy.

‘Our message is simple - We will not be deterred;’ Uvalde Foundation for Kids joins search for Sebastian Rogers

A community-organized group said it will start meeting every day from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. to search for Sebastian Rogers and they’re asking for more volunteers.

On Saturday there were about ten people who met outside of the Rudder in Hendersonville. They were handing out flyers - a reminder for people to be on the lookout for the 15-year-old with autism who vanished from his home in Sumner County.

This comes after the United Cajun Navy stopped their search because they said some of their volunteers were receiving death threats. But this group says they’re undeterred.

“There’s people that lurk and they stare, but we’ve not had any indication of any kind of threat ourselves,” Strahm said.

And they aren’t alone - the Uvalde Foundation for Kids has said they are sending additional volunteers to help.

The Uvalde Foundation For Kids is appalled that dedicated volunteers, searching to bring this young man home there, are being subjected to threats due to their efforts. This will not be tolerated. This will not stop the search. I have asked our National STOPNOW Safety Teams director to assemble a special team of 18 additional volunteers to aid in the search & if needed, protect those who are searching. Whoever is making these threats can call us. Our message is simple - We will not be deterred,” wrote founder Daniel Chapin.

They’re asking for more support from those who live in the county.

“All that matters is that you’re doing something because while you may not have the ability to search on foot, you have the ability to share, you have the ability to distribute flyers. If you have an elderly neighbor that cannot search their own property -offer to search for them,” Strahm said.

Strahm said Sebastian’s father, Seth Rogers, is encouraging everyone to take the day off from searching tomorrow to spend time with their families for Easter.

It will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Monday near the Rudder in Hendersonville.

Sounds to me like we have searchers in it for a reason and competing which is disgusting. The only goal should be to find this child. But you know it does go on, AWP would be a perfect example. Disturbing as most of us don't think like that.

I have yet to believe though that he left home on his own. I hope I'm wrong but regardless it is unlikely to have a good outcome.

Sheriff’s office to provide update in search for Sebastian Rogers on Tuesday

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office will be providing an update in the search for missing teen Sebastian Rogers on Tuesday morning.

As of Monday afternoon, the sheriff’s office provided no update in the search for the missing teen with autism. He’s been missing since Feb. 26.

“At this time, we have no new developments to report. However, we understand the importance of keeping the public informed, and we want to assure you that the investigation into Mr. Rogers’ disappearance remains ongoing,” SCSO said.

The press conference is currently scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

As officials continue to search for 15-year-old Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers, the autistic Sumner County teen who disappeared in February, investigators say they're hopeful the boy might still be alive and his family has remained cooperative and communicative, despite his mother and stepfather's recent move to Memphis.

In the five weeks since Sebastian was reported missing from his Hendersonville home, Sumner County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Eric Craddock said new tips have been called in daily. One of the more recent developments has been the discovery of a pair of glasses, which police are investigating and could possibly belong to the missing teen.

“We are exploring every lead that comes in and every tip that comes in," Craddock said during a Tuesday press conference updating the public on its progress in the case. “The entire community is deeply saddened by what has occurred, we’re all extremely concerned for Sebastian’s welfare.

“Nothing would make me happier than to wake up tomorrow morning to a tip that cracks this case wide open, and we find Sebastian and we bring him home.”

Craddock was adamant Tuesday that there was no evidence of foul play in the case. He also noted that there was no evidence to support "foul play on the part of Sebastian’s parents.

“We’re not ruling anything out,” he said. “We come up with theories almost daily and try and investigate and make sure that we’re doing everything we can to find Sebastian.”

<snip>

The United Cajun Navy, which has shifted Tennessee volunteer efforts from Riley Strain — a college student who was missing for two weeks before his body was discovered, to search for Sebastian — said Friday it was calling off searches for the time being after volunteers received threats.

Craddock said Tuesday that no such threats had been documented with the Sheriff's Office. And the police sit-down with Sebastian's parents, he said, was done at the request of law enforcement.

"It’s not uncommon to talk to the families and investigations like this,” he clarified. As for the United Cajun Navy, it is "operating independently. They have not reached out to us,” Craddock said.

“One of the things I really appreciate that they’ve done is print flyers and keep Sebastian’s name out there.”

How very PC and careful imo. TCN is operating independently and have had no contact with LE but they appreciate the flyers.

No foul play or evidence to support but ruling nothing out.

It pretty much says it all but also says absolutely nothing.

But some red herring like glasses is thrown in there like happenstance or minor.

They either aren't his or if by chance they are, here's my very speculative opinion on that they were put out or provided and meant to be found because there isn't even an area or sighting of this boy to know WHERE to search so what are the odds? Or what, he loses such close to home and they've just been found? ODD. Or they relate not at ALL.

Strange thing to offer when nothing else was really said or offered...
