Tennessee Amber Alert issued for missing teen out of Sumner County

Sumner County officials are asking everyone to be on the lookout as they continue their search for a missing and endangered teenager they say has autism.

An Amber Alert has been issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

"Carefully check your property… and any other locations where a child who enjoys hiding might be," the Sumner County Sheriff's Office has said.

Fifteen-year-old Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers was last seen on Monday "near Stafford Court in Hendersonville wearing a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants and glasses," the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said on X.

I thought LE had mostly transitioned in this one from searches. New info? Or having to show they've followed up on what that fairly recent stuff was?

This case is reminding me a lot of Summer Wells. Both are TN. Facts are different somewhat but there's a lot similar. I'm in no WAY saying they are related just thinking of other similarities. What was the real time? What were they wearing? Did they have shoes on? And so much more. No sightings, no real hits by dogs. Well supposedly now in each.... Starting to seem like not the most pure nonprofit groups or people or searchers getting involved are pure with only finding him at heart.

In both cases, people on the internet wondered if Summer's dad came home and all sorts of things and they wonder if in this one...

I don't do FB etc. but I see enough talk of such and even here, articles that hint at such, comments, posts, more.

Like the real Cajun Navy vs. the other. Never heard of the one before this case and now I learn there are two and one not so above board.

So is the TBI on a real ground search for some real reason or just to stem and show they are...

And now I just realized it says TBInvestigates. We are talking the TN Bureau of Investigation I'd hope? Or some clone name? Another group here again with s similar name, this time to LE?

Yep. TBI. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Yep. TBI. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
I figured. But then I thought the Cajun Navy was the Cajun Navy too and I'm not clueless to groups cloning a close name to a real org. but I think of it more with those calling to get donations and things like that than seeing it in an actual case where no one seems to realize it or such would go on.

While this headlines the glasses, I'll give a spoiler alert and that's that they are not Sebastian's. However, don't ignore this show because of that. There is MUCH in it and much from Sebastian's dad and all sorts of things are covered from polygraphs to telling one person one thing and another station another, and so much more. It's worth the full watch just to hear Sebastian's dad for one but for other reasons as well.

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Hendersonville community came together Saturday evening, just ahead of the six-week mark since 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers went missing.

The prayer vigil was held on Saturday, April 6 outside The Rudder, where vigil organizers have been keeping stacks of flyers for any community members interested in distributing them.

“We are one, Lord God, and we believe and we decree and declare that Sebastian will come home safe and unharmed,” Minister ShaLawn Williams prayed.

Despite the ongoing search efforts, those who attended the event worked to spread messages of hope.

“You guys are Sebastian’s army,” Sebastian’s father, Seth Rogers, said. “We will find him, we will find him alive, we will find him well.”

Seth thanked everyone who had helped in the search for his son. Sebastian’s grandparents were also in attendance, after traveling from Texas for a second time to help look for their grandchild.

“He loved to talk about plants with me, he loved to talk about animals with me, he loved to go fishing, and he would say, ‘You know, Memaw, that’s our favorite sport, right?'” Sebastian’s grandmother, Robin Rogers, recalled, breaking up her tears with laughter.

However, Sebastian’s family also had a strong message for anyone looking to benefit from their search efforts or use the investigation as “clickbait.”

“If you’re going to be out here, doing what needs to be done to bring our grandson home, we appreciate it,” Robin said. “But if you’re out there just making money, stay away.”

I believe in God but I have to say the declaration he will come home safe and unharmed at this point and his father saying the same, makes them far beyond me with it. I know God doesn't always do that and he isn't the one who takes them away either or kills them if that's the case here. And every single person on this earth wishes and wonders why he coudln't intervene in one loss or another at some point in their lives, imo.

It's a great message though and shows great faith and hope.

And we've seen hints that all the searchers or search orgs aren't necessarily about finding the child and click bait and making money off it oh yes that always exists as well.

Nice to hear from grandma on dad's side with the fishing/sport story, etc.

Thank you for posting.

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — No one is cleared and the focus remains on the possibility of foul play. The mystery of Sebastian Rogers remains -- this as the autistic teen is still missing after 46 days.

The search continues, but many wonder what would take to officially open a criminal investigation and perhaps even seek indictments.

Authorities say they won't rule out foul play, but have not said there is a criminal investigation yet in the Sebastian Rogers case.

Sebastian disappeared from his Hendersonville home more than six weeks ago.

Since then, professionals and volunteers searching for the 15-year-old have found nothing.

So how does a teen with autism walking from a home barefoot in the middle of the night with a flashlight and just disappear?

Experts say children rarely simply vanish completely on their own.

Could others be involved in Sebastian's case?

"We have not cleared anyone, but we have no evidence of foul play," said Eric Craddock, Sumner County Sheriff's Chief Deputy.

Though they certainly have theories. So, what would it take to call this now a criminal investigation?

District Attorney Ray Whitley says there needs to be something: Physical evidence: blood, Sebastian's clothing, a flashlight or security video or an eyewitness implicating someone.

At this point the simple fact is there is nothing.

But that's not to say that can't change and General Whitley says he stays in contact with authorities ready to prosecute if it does.

Sumner County EMA Director Weidner says his crews are on call ready to go when investigators with new leads on potential evidence.

"Any time the sheriff or TBI says we need to deploy we go, we are ready to go," Weidner said.

A sophisticated mapping system shows all the ground they've covered.

Sadly, to date no confirmed sightings and no indication what-so-ever of what happened to Sebastian.

Authorities still assume Sebastian is alive and hope he is found safe. If that's not the case, then his body must be found.

Without it or any other physical evidence we may never learn what happened to the teen.

Anyone with tips on the Sebastian Rogers case is asked to call 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Well that sounds entirely discouraging imo. Especially the part about may never know....

I was watching a couple of days old I think one of Vinnie earlier on Soto. His new YT channel. Went to try to finish it, had had i up and never finsished with lack of time but did so today. some of his regular new channel viewers in chat at a point were talkinga of Sebastian's case and he said yes, that one and referred to his opinion on it, etc. Now I never saw him on that case or if did, it had to be Court TV but was left with the impression from chat and him that and things he said that the opinion is this boy did not just go missing.. I do not know more than that and I don't consider him an expert or someone who knows more details on this case than anyone else.

He did say a bit and I can't word for word it all but it's like I've said, there is something wrong here. Like this post you just put up, there is absolutelky no evidence he went missing, barefoot on top of it or left home. There is no video, no nothing, the eyeglasses are a non thing and so on. Recent hype over a few things was b.s. and even seemed orchestrated to me.

The barefoot thing bothers me. It seems like an explanation when all his shoes were accounted for.

My first watch of these two I MOSTLY bought them but not him as much... I felt he was trying to prove or show how much he cared. Subsequent watches and more info changed my opinion. Not for the better and did a bit about her as well.

I'm not going to annihilate them as some it sounds like have and are doing online. And like the above says he may never be found or answers ever known. I do think though there is a lot wrong here and changing stories and even bio dad's saying he wanted to and was going to come live with him and just a lot of stuff that has not cleared them imo and again particularly the stepdad. She though the morek I watch is like some automaton and TAht could be serious grief, depression and nonfunctioning but then he comes in and it is like you can see the coontrol I swear.

I will apologize if wrong. For me there is no evidence that has taken me from the home yet.

And I am hoping rather than never solve or never know LE has more than we know. and are workign on getting there. I mean even if he was meeting someone from online or abducted, there is just NOTHING to indicate that. That of course does not prove guilt but that, some changing stories, the barefoot thing, it just does'nt add up.

I'm where I am at in this one. I don't have enough to of course convict but I also won't do what others out there are. It's my leaning percentage and opinion. And I heard him tell Nancy he would take a polygraph name the date and time and place and I'll be there. She set it up and he had an excuse. So many things like that. and he keeps claiming like LE told him not to or this or that and not once have they ever confirmed a thing he has said.

I dont' know about mom. It is like Soto. Can you NOT know or suspect? Or suspect now as it all goes on and further?

So I think without throwing anyone hard under the bus or saying so outright, it shows my lean here. I am just not buying it. I start out truly I do in every case with giving a full chance AND I think it is even in here before I knew ANYTHING I saw them interviewed and felt they were truthful and particularly her. So I start out at zero. But I knew nothing and then learned more and have seen more and seen more from them and that changed.

Going on at length I know. No fears, I won't be able to much again on many anyhow after tonight for awhile.

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – News 2 has confirmed the biological father of missing teen Sebastian Rogers has hired two private investigators to look into his son’s disappearance.

Sebastian was last seen on Monday, Feb. 26 near Stafford Court in Hendersonville and has been missing ever since.

Sumner County Sheriff Sonny Weatherford told News 2 he briefly met with the private investigators on Tuesday, April 16. The investigators reportedly want to re-search some of the area around Sebastian’s home.

Authorities covered miles and miles of land while searching for the missing teen in the days and weeks after he went missing. However, repeated search efforts have not turned up any new leads.

The search for Sebastian took investigators as far north as a landfill in Southern Kentucky, where the trash in Sebastian’s Hendersonville neighborhood reportedly goes after being picked up. Nothing was found during that search.

Sebastian’s father, Seth, has organized searches himself, going as far west as West Tennessee.

Seth told News 2 on Tuesday he’s doing everything he can to find his son.

I can see why he would. I can also see why investigators would search a landfill where trash was taken from his family's neighborhood.

I went into his case cold knowing little so no bias when I saw first and interview of mom and stepdad and I honestly no kidding came away from it finding her devastated and him I had a few things but thought just stepdad knowing he'd be looked at because he was a stepdad and trying to be upfront etc. I was not 100 percent with him but I could see where boh were likely innocent. But I KNEW NOTHING so that was interesting in how that worked for me.

Then I learned things, I don't do SM and it had not hit my radar and then I saw further interviews etc. and I had barely the few facts they have which are zilch that we know of. That boy has never even proven nor shown to have left that home on his own two feet, barefoot or shoed by anyone, any camera, any car driving by seeing him, by dogs and so on.

And then too of course and have stated some of this in posts above I noticed dad's carefulness and he doesn't acruss them either but he also does not confirm or stick up for a thing they've said. And he has very wisely only done it that way while kind of showing while he is not accusing them, he has ruled nothing out and the fact Sebastian wanted to go live with him and more...

So much more. I learned of MORE after when I did not know and then I saw other interviews with them as we all have and his lies or claims of different things. The last one I saw I found mom to be like an automaton which could be stress, meds and public coming down and zombiiness worn out with worry but I sensed actually a relationship here with her and stepdad that is less than ideal.

I'm not saying 100 percent, I never do but there is not one bit of evidence this kid ever left the home of his own accord.

And then of course learned it was not so joyful and easy s hey'd made it sound like.

And that there was CPS involvement and so on.

And that his stories aren't match up day to day. And don't get me wrong, that doesn't take her off for me either. Much like Soto, she is backing it or has...

'We're asking you for a miracle': Two-month mark nears in Sebastian Rogers' disappearance
It's been nearly eight weeks since Sebastian Rogers disappeared from his home in Sumner County.

A crowd gathered for a prayer vigil at Beech High School, Sebastian's school, Saturday evening, as the two-month mark nears. Friends and neighbors prayed for Sebastian's return, wearing green bracelets and ribbons, his favorite color.

There has been little, if any, trace of the teen since he went missing, and no viable leads, according to the Sumner County Sheriff's Office and TBI. Volunteers continue to canvass Sumner County outside the initial five-mile radius covered by law enforcement, and pass out fliers. There are even volunteer dive crews.

Sebastian's father, Seth Rogers, has not given up in his mission to find his son. Earlier this week, he launched an online petition urging the FBI to take over the investigation into Sebastian's disappearance. Rogers has said too much time has passed for this not to be investigated as a criminal case. He's also hired two private detectives, who have met with law enforcement about the case.

The Sumner County Sheriff's Office has continued to say they have not let up in working to find Sebastian, and that they're leaving no possibilities off the table.

Friday marks 2 months since Sebastian Rogers’ disappearance

Friday marks two months since 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers disappeared from his home in Sumner County.

The teenager is still the center of a nationwide AMBER Alert and two months of searching has not yielded any results.

The community is working to make sure no one forgets about Sebastian.

“Law enforcement has not, you know drawn any conclusions, so we need to keep hope up and keep praying for this young teen and his parents and his dad that you know he is going to be found. We just got to keep the faith,” explained Don Schmit, Sumner County commissioner for District 18.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) issued the following statement ahead of the two-month mark:

April 26th marks two months since Sebastian Rogers was reported missing from his Sumner County home. Since that time, TBI special agents from multiple units have been assisting the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office in efforts to locate Sebastian. These efforts have included multiple large-scale searches on the ground, in water, and from the air. The searches have included multiple local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and Secret Service. Residents in the area have also conducted searches on their own properties, in the hopes of finding Sebastian, or learning what may have happened to him. To date, there have been no confirmed sightings of Sebastian since the issuance of the Alert. TBI special agents continue to review the information gathered since the investigation began, follow up on all leads or tips that come in, and work with counterparts from other law enforcement agencies to review strategies and consider options. The AMBER Alert for Sebastian Rogers remains active. We continue to encourage anyone with information to call 1-800-TBI-FIND, or send an email to TipsToTBI@tbi.tn.gov.
Meanwhile, the community will gather on Friday, April 26 to “Light the way” for Sebastian to come home.

OKAY EVERYONE … PULL BACK ON THE REINS A BIT.
I have been flooded with messages along with this photo taken this past weekend at a visitor center off of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.
And yes, people think this looks like Sebastian Rogers — the 15-year-old who disappered from his home in Hendersonville, TN two months ago.
There is a resemblance, but difficult to tell from this angle.
I can tell you that both Sumner County sheriff’s detectives and the TBI now have this photo.
Since Sebastian vanished authorities have received many photos of potential sightings.
And, as in all cases, they will be vetting this photo.
To date, there have been no confirmed sightings.
So please don’t jump to any conclusions.
Some are already posting on social media that it is Sebastian.
NO ONE OFFICIAL HAS SAID THAT.
Again, there is so much garbage about this sad case on podcasts and social media.
It is good to keep Sebastion’s story out there and it is great that people report potential sightings.
But please don’t draw any conclusions until we hear from authorities.
Trust me .. if and when there is a confirmed sighting or he is found they WILL LET US KNOW.
But for now, this photo is nothing more than another potential lead.
I’LL LET YOU KNOW IF THAT CHANGES.

I can see the hype I GUESS but unless he was a teen into dying hair etc., I don't have a lot of time but looked back up and he was blonde to dark blonde and this kid is brunette.

I don't think it helps anyting even though I am sure people mean well.

I'm NOT buying into this one. At first I did do a benefit of the doubt even after the first interview I watched when I KNEW NOTHING else from SM or anywhere about the case... Didn't take long though. And I don't think bio dad does and I think he suspects more that we are going to hear said as I think do LE.

If wrong, I will admit and apologize. This kid never "left" home on his own when said. Imo. Nope.

And that makes this pic NOT HIM.

Pants found in search do not belong to Sebastian Rogers, investigators say

Pants found during the search for missing 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers aren’t his, according to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office.

In an email, Chief Deputy Eric Craddock said the pants were found Wednesday night, but after examination, they aren’t believed to belong to Rogers.

BRISTOL, Va. (WCYB) — Authorities across the state of Tennessee search for missing people every day and some cases grab the public’s attention and leave families searching for answers.

<snip>

Sebastian Rogers has now been missing for more than two months. According to Sebastian's mother and stepfather, the autistic teen is believed to have walked off in the middle of the night, leaving his medication at home. His family discovered he was missing on the morning of February 26, 2024.

Sumner County authorities and the TBI say there have been no viable leads. Volunteers have joined in the search, expanding beyond the initial five-mile radius covered by law enforcement. His father recently hired private investigators and called for the FBI to take over and investigate Sebastian’s disappearance as a criminal matter.

<snip>

With those four people missing in our region, community members are searching for answers.

Trevor Lee is a community advocate in Bristol, Va.

He's worked towards bringing awareness to missing people for years.

“Anybody that's missing is out there somewhere and we can't just leave it as ‘they're somewhere,’” says Lee. “It means a lot to hopefully be able to try and bring these people home and do our part to make that happen.”
Lee tells News 5 that unfortunately, the cases of Hollynn, Layla, Summer, and Sebastian are often forgotten.

News 5 asked: ‘With all of the work you do with these cases, do you still come across people that have no idea about these cases?”

“All four, unfortunately. I've had people come up to me at the grocery store or they'll see a flyer from the car, and they'll ask, and even with the case of Summer Wells, who is the longest missing out of the four. We're coming up on three years and some people don't even know that she's missing from our area,” added Lee. “There’s always a gap to be filled. I think one of the big misconceptions is the entire region knows about somebody just because there's an alert out for them, but whether it's people who don't utilize social media or watch the news, or don't get alerts, they're unaware of these missing people.”
That's why Lee is hosting an event Sunday called Flyers For 4 Initiative, passing out flyers of the four missing people in the hopes of reaching more community members.

“With these four active cases and just not many answers in any of them, after talking to families it felt like the right thing to do to raise awareness again for these missing people. We're hoping to get a lot of people to come out and really just plaster the region with flyers and hopefully generate tips and leads to bring these people home.”

If you wish to participate, you can arrive at J Fred Johnson Park in Kingsport any time after 9 a.m. to help pass out flyers across the region.
