CO SUZANNE MORPHEW: Missing from Chaffee County, CO - 10 May 2020 - Age 49 *Found Deceased*

A Chaffee County woman is missing after a neighbor said she went out for a bike ride Sunday and never returned, sparking a search involving more than 100 emergency personnel.

The Chaffee County Communications Center received a report on Sunday at 5:46 p.m. regarding a missing woman in the area of County Road 225 and West Highway 50.


Anybody who has information on Morphew’s whereabouts is asked to call the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office at 719-539-2596 or Chaffee County Crime Stoppers at 719-539-2599.

One more thing. I got the mistress name wrong also. Thank goodness! And the girl with the correct name is not his mistress but she did work for him. So I heard that people were going to her FB page and calling her horrible names. She laughed it off and said it’s not her and had to defend herself and she likes Suzanne. It scares me because truly I thought he is innocent but LE really were digging into concrete so I got really mad at him and was willing to believe the worst. Maybe it was a drifter and maybe LE really believe it’s the husband. Color me confused right now.

Oh and this part is fact...he never told police he went to fire training in Denver. He was on two landscaping jobs and that’s what he told LE.

I’m still thinking about Maddie! Yes reminds me of the runaway bride. Lol. That guy sure dodged a bullet didn’t he?

I may share a rumor here and there but I have never went to anyone's personal page and blasted the person like on FB as upset as I can be at them in my mind. I have read such things at pages and can't believe people take it that far as to even threaten them and before confirmed and know you would never either.

After enough cases, and I still forget, I have realized a pattern of emotions, at least with me in most. First it is shock that such a thing happened, then I think most of us try to find hope, then depending on what facts come out we speculate and try to form some opinions and discuss, then like if a body is found, we go into the depths AND when a perpetrator is named or suspected, we get MAD and want them to "rot". I totally get it but I still have to remind myself.

You are so the type that never wants it to be the husband, family, etc. so I know when you find or think it is how it strikes you hard.

It is interesting that with Maddie the rumor she went willingly came out yesterday and that there was video and I heard it and it apparently did end up being true before LE confirmed it. There is often some basis in such rumors and boy, they were strong and all over the place yesterday on this Morphew case.

CBS4 is reporting that they are searching a construction site. Wasn't there going to be a search around her house today too?

Without speculating too much, often on a weekend or a holiday weekend particularly, it can give time to interrogate, charge or announce... Just a thought... Hard to say though. Rumors could have all been s*** but there was so very much yesterday... It makes me think of where there is smoke there is often fire... Getting the ducks in row possibly...? Or wild rumor that got way, way out of hand... Crossing Ts and dotting Is and maybe a deal with someone with info having to be legally approved and again it is the weekend...

Trying to word carefully. Or alternatively it could all be a bunch of nothing that spread like wildfire.

Do you ever think LE puts some info out through a source to then watch the reaction of possible perps? I have no proof of it but I suspect it sometimes... I think the Gannon case may be a bit like that. They would through someone just slip a fact or two or even not a fact and let it leak somewhere and let Leticia just keep on talking, explaining each new detail online and boxing herself in even worse... I wonder about that here... It can also help define who can be trusted...

IMO, as a member of a LE family, they do not need to leak information that could result in entrapment or evidence being inadmissable at trial. As far as LS, she ran her mouth and set her own fate.

Good point. Yet it does not have to be false info which I would not compare to entrapment and some things are shared with victims and families, not everything, but some. The FBI wiring Melanie's husband is not leaking info necessarily but is trying to legally capture conversations... The FBI has been involved in most of these recent cases. And when you have a lot of players and have to determine things....? It is just a thought. Shake the tree and see what happens... And again it can be a true fact just as what they decide to judiciously share with the public can do the same... I can't quite explain what I mean... I actually think it is a brilliant move if it is sometimes the case...

There were no new developments in the Suzanne Morphew missing person case on Saturday (May 23), according to a press release. The search being conducted at a residence on the east side of Salida concluded Saturday evening and investigators plan to return to the site on Sunday (May 24).

The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office reports that Morphew has not been located and there have been no arrests in the investigation.

No details of the search are being released at this time and it is not known how long the search will take, but an update will be provided at the conclusion of the search, according to a press release.

Hmm. I will carefully make one comment. This by LE has never seemed to be treated like an abduction nor a leave by your own choice and she could be anywhere on the globe, whether by abduction or choice. Yet abduction has been insinuated to us and others, just not by LE. I shall leave it at that.

There is a lot of effort going in here, probably a lot of cost and a homeowner losing what has been worked on on her property. I doubt they are doing this lightly and likely have very good reason/cause to be here and I would have to guess something pretty significant led them there or someone. Jmo.

Search For Suzanne Morphew In Salida Concludes With No New Clues

Suzanne Morphew remains missing as the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office wrapped up a three-day search at a residential construction site east of Salida. The FBI and CBI assisted in the search for more clues.

Investigators dug beneath a concrete slab. The property owner told CBS4’s Rick Sallinger Suzanne’s husband, Barry, laid the dirt at the riverfront property.

The sheriff’s office says while they searched multiple locations on the property, they did not make any connection to Suzanne’s case. They also did not release details about the search.

They add the property owner was fully cooperative and not connected to the case.

“Someone has that key piece of information in this case that will help us locate Suzanne, and I’m asking our community members to continue to use the tip line to provide any information, no matter how inconsequential the tip may seem,” said Sheriff John Spezze.

Investigators do not have plans to search for Suzanne on Monday. A media briefing will also not be held on Monday.
