This is a neighbor to Barry's "work site" that they were searching. Saying she heard a loud truck (or large work vehicle that gets left on the site) running in the middle of the night.
Gotcha. The part that threw me was Mother's Day weekend and I guess I thought that meant near their own home.

This case I don't have much trouble with, or overthink, I have my opinion of who is responsible. Just don't know her location and some other details. It would not surprise me either if more was going on in their lives, or at least his life of maybe secrets, gfs, finances or businesses, etc. but other than that, I think this one is the usual statistical most likely answer. Imo anyhow.

I do hope they find her and I hope charges are able to be brought, sooner rather than later against the one or those responsible...

That explains the search in that area. They don't have any proof that he was even there though, do they?

Not that we're aware of. His story is that he was out of town entirely that weekend. (Though we don't know if that's been confirmed. It has been questioned. He said he was at a training for firefighting, but I recall someone saying there was no training in that location at that time.)

To my knowledge, it is one thing that stands out to me, that LE in no way I don't think has commented on his whereabouts, confirmed them nor disputed them. This is one case I find the lack of clearing someone very noticeable... I am with the club that also would say the date she went missing was perhaps not the date she went missing..

Yeah, I don't think they've confirmed (or denied) a gosh dang thing in this case. We STILL don't have official LE confirmation that her bicycle was even found, though family say it was. A timeline would be nice. When were the girls last home? When did Barry (supposedly) leave? When/where/how was her bicycle found?

Exactly. Considering the absolutely nuts rampant rumors the one or two times, LE has confirmed not a single solitary thing to my knowledge. They even say the recent visit again to their property was only announced (or so say some) because the community knew or saw them there and the FBI in town so they knew it would get out in the news anyhow, so they shared it. Otherwise they have been entirely mum haven't they?

This is one case where to me the lack of info provided speaks way more than the info provided. They have not cleared him nor even come close to confirming his alibi. They have not confirmed the bike nor bike ride, just that it was reported that is what she was doing or some such... I feel extreme sadness for her daughters but NO ONE is looking for her in the sense of asking the public to keep their eyes open for her, not family, not LE, NO ONE.

I did see an article the other day I did not see the point in sharing, it was just a fluff piece imo about how a friend said they were the perfect couple, you know, the woman is happy to be homemaker and he happy to be the breadwinner... They enjoyed life, etc., etc. (Paraphrasing but really close)... I don't know about others, but that kind of thing means very little to me... It can be true or it can be a front of an allegedly happy family.

My best uneducated guess is they know who, even maybe where something happened and possibly when but they are building the case or don't quite have enough... Yet...

Suzanne Morphew’s family speaks out 3 months after her disappearance

It has now been three months since a Chaffee County mother disappeared. For the first time, a family member of the woman is speaking out to FOX21 News.

One of Suzanne’s family members says that they are worried Barry, Suzanne’s husband hasn’t told investigators everything he knows. Barry told the family he was working in Denver when Suzanne was reported missing and their girls were on a camping trip out of state.

Her family also wants everyone to shine a bright light to remind the public that she is still missing and just how much she’s loved.

One of Suzanne’s family members is breaking their silence with the promise of anonymity. They’re worried Barry is tampering with the investigation.

This family member says Barry refused two polygraph tests, a critical analysis test and the family member also says the data collected from his truck didn’t match up with what he told investigators.

The Chaffee County Sheriff wouldn’t offer any insight on the family member’s information.

Investigators were handing out flyers on Monday and asking anyone with information to call the tipline at (719) 312-7530. So far 700 tips have been collected. Investigators went to Indiana a few weeks ago which is where Suzanne and Barry grew up to question friends and family.

FOX21 has reached out to Barry many times for an interview or a statement but haven’t heard back.

Finding Suzanne Morphew: Investigators Distribute Flyers On 3 Month Anniversary Of Disappearance

The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation spent Monday distributing more missing person flyers to Chaffee County residents. Monday was the three month anniversary of Suzanne Morphew’s disappearance.

The investigation is still ongoing. It is still considered a missing person case.

Interesting. No hint how close of a family member. The person is close enough to know the truck info did not match up and that he refused polygraphs. This case is far too quiet, perhaps it is being worked on but the remark of worrying Barry is tampering with the investigation bothers me. It is difficult to tamper with one unless the person has connections no? I mean Barry could try to mislead but I would not think of that as tampering...

1. It’s Unclear How Long Morphew Had Been Gone Before a Neighbor Reported Her Missing & Investigators Say It’s Unlikely She Was Attacked By an Animal

The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office says it received a call about a missing woman around 5:45 p.m. on May 10. Morphew was reported missing in the area of County Road 225 and West Highway 50 near Maysville, Colorado.

A neighbor told deputies Morphew had gone for a bike ride and never returned home. Her husband was away at the time. It was not immediately clear what time Morphew left her house or how frequently she may have taken long bike rides or hikes. Her nephew, Trevor Noel, says Morphew’s bike was found but details about the condition of the bike have not been shared.

2. Family Members Say Morphew’s Husband Was in Denver When She Disappeared & He’s Offering a Reward For Her Safe Return

Morphew’s husband, Barry Morphew, has offered a $100,000 reward for information about what happened to his wife. A family friend matched the offer, bringing the reward to $200,000 for info leading to Morphew’s safe return, “no questions asked,” according to the Denver Channel. Morphew’s family did not identify the friend. The Chaffee County Sheriff has not mentioned the reward and whether the department is coordinating with Morphew’s husband.

Family members say Barry Morphew was in Denver when a neighbor reported his wife missing. Denver is located about 150 miles northeast of Chaffee County.

4. Neighbors Describe the Community As a Safe Place Where People Keep Their Doors Unlocked

The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office listed Morphew’s home as being in Maysville, which is a census-designated area with a population of about 135 people

But Morphew’s house has a Salida, Colorado, address, according to Chaffee County property records. Maysville is located about 11 miles west of Salida.

Images from the area show that it is a mountainous community where homes are tucked back into the trees. FOX21 reporter Amber Jo Cooper shared on social media that neighbors describe the community as very safe and that “most people in town don’t even lock their doors.”

“People don’t know the truth”: Suzanne Morphew’s husband breaks silence after three months

For the first time since May 10, the day Suzanne Morphew seemingly disappeared from her Chaffee County home, her husband, Barry, spoke, over the phone, exclusively to FOX21’s Lauren Scharf.

During a 25-minute conversation that took place Tuesday, Barry theorized over what may have happened to his wife. He mentioned the possibility of an animal attack, an accident, perhaps, with someone on the road, or even, he said, a run-in with someone who knows her well.

Barry declined an in-person interview and said he did not want a recording of the call to be aired.

He said he has continued to search for Suzanne, the mother of his two daughters, despite the public’s apparent perception he isn’t doing enough.

But on the phone with Scharf, Barry said, “my wife and I have been in love since 1988 and she’s the love of my life. And I continue to search for her every day and I will until I find her. I promise and I promised my girls that.”

He also spoke about his family’s deep-seated faith.

“We don’t know why God does what he does,” Barry told Scharf. ” But we have to trust him.”

And, over the phone, Barry said unfair coverage of his wife’s disappearance has painted him in a bad light, and convinced him to stay silent.

“I am afraid of what is out there,” he said. “People don’t know the truth, so they’re gonna think what they’re gonna think.”

“This is the most devastating thing that has ever happened to me,” Barry explained. “But I have got to keep my faith and trust in God. And Suzanne trusted the Lord and if one person got saved from this, she would think it was worth it. And we are just a Godly, loving, caring, family and this thing is just a tragedy.”

In an earlier interview, Suzanne’s family told FOX21 CBI agents asked Barry to take a polygraph test on two separate occasions, and, each time, he turned them down.

“I’ve never been asked to do a polygraph,” Barry said. “There is nothing that I am hiding. I have given three – 30 hours of testimony to the FBI and the CBI. I’ve answered every question. Every single question.”

Dan Corsentino, a private investigator in Pueblo, said it is possible those agencies did not ask Barry Morphew to take a polygraph. He also said it could be reasonable for an innocent person to deny the test.

“Investigators may offer a polygraph only to have a subject or the person of interest refuse it based on legal advice, knowing the polygraph is not admissible in a courtroom. So, therefore, what is the use of taking it,” Corsentino said.

Although the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office has not provided updates on the Morphew investigation since July 9, nor has it provided information pertaining to suspects or even persons of interest, Corsentino said scrutiny on the missing woman’s husband would not be surprising.

“Investigators start with the people closest to the alleged victim in the case,” Corsentino said.

Barry did admit an inconsistency in one timeline he provided to investigators.

“It was only because I didn’t know the time that I did something, a mechanical thing, to my bobcat,” he said. “I was confused and I just found out my wife was missing, and I was a little bit not in my right mind when they were asking me these questions, but I did the best I could and I answered everything. I never once declined any interview.”

“The Sheriff’s Department screwed this whole thing up from the beginning and now they are trying to cover it up and blame it on me,” he said. He went on to cite an incident he found particularly troubling, which occurred, he said, when deputies found his wife’s bike.

“My buddy was there right after that, and he said that they completely destroyed the evidence, and he tried to stop them, but they wouldn’t listen to him and said, ‘this is not CSI,'” Barry said. “There’s no evidence for the investigators to see because the Sheriff’s Department completely obliterated it.”

As the phonecall between Barry and FOX21 reached its end, Morphew said he and his daughters are holding onto the hope that Suzanne is alive and will be found.

Hmmm. I tell myself not to judge as I have no right and don't know and I would not want to be judged unfairly.

I do have my opinion though. It's truly too bad the entire family was out of town when she went missing... And on Mother's Day no less? With a mom who just overcame cancer? And that is IF it even occurred on Mother's Day.... Whatever it is that happened to her.... If all were home maybe someone may have saved her and/or knew what happened. Perhaps there would be no questions or odd things... That is in no way at the children, sounds like they were encouraged to go on a camping trip...

I believe in God but boy do I see a ton of cases using that and saying that as no never, we had such faith, loved each other so much, etc... In my lifetime the people that say that or point out their churchgoing are at time the biggest hypocrites.... I mean God talked to Lori and Chad too...

But I don't know...

As far as polygraphs, they may not be admissible in court but they can have LE come out on TV etc. and say you passed it and they are dismissing you as anyone considered to possibly be involved at this time. LE in this case has NEVER cleared him or even said he is not a POI at this time... Also, no one can stop him from putting his own polygraph results out there on the news and the questions asked.... I don't mean like Leticia Stauch who tried to buy fake polygraph results...

Barry imo could agree to take one, have an attorney negotiate through which polygrapher to be sure it is an expert, etc. and insist on the results in exchange for taking it...

I don't know. Not accusing him as that is not fair but the wife is missing, clear yourself in any way you can SO THEY CAN LOOK FOR THE REAL PERP, no???

I agree with you, he doesn't have to wait til someone asks him for a polygraph, he could just offer to take one. The finger pointing in direction of the cops also leaves a bad taste. That this is the most devastating thing that has ever happened to HIM while it is Suzanne who has vanished and might be in danger or is dead doesn't make a good impression either. All that doesnt mean that he did something to her. Maybe I just can't stand him. Jmo

I don't like him much either... And I guess it doesn't make him guilty... But certain things... As people often say in a missing child or spouse case, they know they are going to be looked at because it is so common so they do all they can, get me cleared and out of the way and get out there and find the real perp! Not this guy... And yah, the blaming of LE...

Another thing for me is trying to always notice what is silent or not said. This woman had TWO daughters. They are NOT out there sharing her picture or saying help us find our mom. She could be here or in any state or any town. Now NO ONE thinks these kids were involved and their lack of doing that suggests to me they KNOW who the perp was and that their mom did not just take off nor was she abducted and is alive... Nor have they come forward saying "my dad would never ever ever"...

Again, I don't like to judge and he can say what he likes but get out there and clear yourself then, no??? Hec* show your work records, pings, etc. and where you were. Show your GPS, your motel receipt, whatever... SHOW the public so the speculation leaves and her perp can be found. I mean he doesn't have to but why not??

This one smells, stinks and reeks... Imo.

‘An animal did not attack her’: Missing Suzanne Morphew’s brother says he thinks someone tossed her bike down a hill; pleads with Barry Morphew to take a polygraph test

The brother of a missing Colorado woman has spoken for the first time since Suzanne Morphew’s disappearance on Mother’s Day weekend.

Suzanne’s brother Andy Moorman told Fox News that he had traveled to Chaffee County, Colorado, to search for his missing sister, and that he plans to return there for an additional search.

” … she has two daughters without answers right now. My father at 87 has cancer and needs answers. And I’m not going to give up. I’m coming back out there to look,” Moorman said in the interview.

Moorman told Fox News that he and Barry Morphew went to the area where Suzanne’s bike had reportedly been found; his comments indicate that the bike was found at the bottom of a hill. As CrimeOnline previously reported, Suzanne’s husband has floated the idea that his wife may have encountered a mountain lion while riding her bike.

“I said to Barry ‘Hey, I don’t think she fell off the hill on that bicycle or rode over the edge.’ I said, ‘I believe a human being threw this down here,'” Moorman told Fox News.

“An animal did not attack her because there absolutely was no blood evidence and no tracks on the ground, no scent from an animal,” he said. “I stood there and looked and I realized that nobody rode over the side of that hill. There would have been signs of a struggle or you would have been skinned up.”

Earlier this month, Barry Morphew gave his first media interview about his wife’s disappearance to Fox 21 News. He addressed previously reported claims made by family members that he had twice refused to take a polygraph test. Morphew claimed that police never asked him to take one, and insisted he has consistently made himself available to law enforcement.

But Suzanne’s brother says he wants Morphew to take the test. In the Fox News interview, Moorman said he had not been in contact with his sister’s husband or daughters since shortly after Suzanne disappeared, and addressed Barry Morphew directly:

“Please, Barry, if you could see this, I would really love it if you would take the time to revisit the authorities and go over everything once again … Take a voice analysis and a lie detector test and clear yourself,” Moorman said.

"Put my mind at ease and everybody out there's mind at ease if you want to shut the rumors down. That's the way you do it. You need to find your wife. That should be your only goal is to find your wife and whatever you're asked to do by the authorities is what you should do. If you're not guilty, step up to the plate."

Moorman reportedly said that while he is not optimistic that Suzanne is still alive, he is determined to find out what happened to her.

“My sister was just the sweetest person ever and anyone would have been happy to be friends or neighbors with her,” Moorman said.

I agree. Why not clear himself if not guilty? I get there are all sorts of excuses for not taking a polygraph, etc. but I do think the main reason is generally guilt.

I wonder why they can't charge him with obstruction of justice or something if they found his work story, etc. are not true... I can't remember the case but way back someone told me, it was in another state the case, that if you charge with things that tie to later possible murder charges, there can be issues or perhaps a statute starts or something...? For the life of me I can't remember why or how it works.

Sometimes I think they don't in states they can because once they do that, they lawyer up and stop talking but in this case isn't Barry already lawyered up? I can't recall but I thought so.

Brother of missing Chaffee County woman enlists volunteers for search effort

Family members of Suzanne Morphew say they are not giving up in their search to find the missing mother of two. Few clues have surfaced since her disappearance– creating a mystery as to what happened to the Chaffee County woman. Morphew, a mother of two, vanished nearly four months ago.

Moorman suspects foul play. He spoke to FOX31’s Indianapolis affiliate during a vigil for Morphew on Saturday in Alexandria, Indiana. He used the event to drum up support to find her.

“The investigators have asked us to stay reasonably quiet and we have,” he said. “But I’m past that point now. It’s time to get this out in the media and get some volunteers together and march on Salida, Colorado and find my little sister.”

Moorman has already been to the Salida area. He said he arrived the day after his sister was reported missing.

“I woke up that morning … I looked out the window of the place I was staying and I just cried because the mountains are so big … and it was like looking for a needle in a haystack,” Moorman said.

His plan is to enlist as many volunteers as possible and set out from Indiana on September 23rd. Moorman said he wishes Suzanne’s husband, Barry, would be more helpful.

“I don’t feel like he’s fully cooperated with investigators,” Moorman said. “He should’ve taken a lie detector and a voice analysis and anything else they ask him to do … he’s gone kind of quiet.”

Those willing to volunteer should contact a crime-solving organization called Profiling Evil, according to Moorman.

Profiling Evil (mentioned in your post) and a few others have been doing a number of podcasts on this case lately, and combined podcasts, or in the recent past anyhow. I just now have caught up on a couple of them.

This one may be the tightest case I have ever seen for information or one of them for sure.

To this very day, we don't even know a bike was found, never confirmed by LE. I never believed or tended not to that there was a bike ride to begin with.

Going back to the beginning, my first thoughts were on Mother's Day? Why was she alone? Not that all consider it big or care about the day but many do... Then we find out she had just went through cancer...

Anyhow, a question coming to mind for me just lately is IF true that the neighbor checked on her when asked and found no bike so a ride was assumed, did the neighbor have a garage key code or key to the home? I don't see or picture the bike sitting outside but in a garage, this is a nice house with plenty of garage storage... There are detached garages if I recall correctly. Still, how did she get in to check?

And then let's say you checked for the bike, would you not then check the house and all for Suzanne, she had just had cancer, she could have collapsed and more? I mean who could know her bike wasn't at the repair shop, on a missing vehicle on a rack on the vehicle, etc. Who could know she did not park or leave it quickly at the side of the home or something... That all just sounds, again IF true, that someone told her Suzanne took a bike ride.

To me, that suggests a bike ride was suggested to the neighbor or thought to be the likely reason for concern... Again someone had to give her a key code that day in the phone call to check on Suzanne or for the bike or she was already trusted with the codes or keys and if so, again, she would check the home and all wouldn't she, and the grounds? Is it possible she did check the house and something was off?

Almost everything we do know is rumor or said by the nephew or husband.

We have heard the security system was not working for that time period, boy that sure happens a lot but I wonder let's say Suzanne took a bike ride how she locked up on leaving, with a key? Were her keys at home or on her? We have not even heard how the home was left as to was there dinner in the frig, a half eaten breakfast giving any idea of time or if she was interrupted... Nope, straight to bike ride which appears to have likely not even been the case...

Futile I guess, just saying there are even these basic things we have never heard... Basically nothing shared. Nor had confirmed. Usually at the beginning of a case some basic info is shared. It seems always selective but just some basics, and then strategically, as time goes on, maybe just a bit more released...

My guess these days is something was known almost immediately that made the story hinky to LE or in fact proved it wrong... The entire bike ride story AND bike seems like it was directed by someone or must have been and something very quickly threw it out for LE as false... Who knows, maybe the very neighbor even knew what was being said to her when asked to check on the bike or was it to check on Suzanne(?) did not make sense based on something she knew...

I don't know. Just on watching a few different things recently and looking back, thoughts that come to mind. Just talking out loud.
