Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Definitely not a Picerno fan here, but I think I believe him that his client won't be arrested. They've probably got their sights on who sold them the drugs. We just had a big fentanyl bust herea free weeks ago. I'm wondering if this might possibly be related.

Catherine Griffith, 39, was allegedly killed following a stabbing in a Auburndale, Fla., home on Sunday, Sep. 8

Collin Griffith called 911, allegedly claiming that his mother died after falling on a knife during an argument between the two, the sheriff’s office statement said.

Collin was found “calm, cool and connected, not upset” by responding authorities who also noticed he had blood on him, Judd said.

The Medical Examiner’s office determined that Collin’s account was inconsistent with the way Catherine died, he said.

Witnesses alleged that before the incident, they saw Collin grab his mother by her hair and drag her inside the home as she cried for him to stop,

According to the sheriff, 2 hours before Colin called 911 the neighbors saw him drag his mother inside by her hair. I wish the neighbors would have called for help. Police had been to that home previously and arrested him.

The neighbors might have just been tired of being dismissed by police if they had called on previous incidents, especially if the mom declined to press charges. This happens a LOT. I would like to see if there were previous calls to the house.

Ahhh, now I see that this happened at his grandmother's house and the grandmother wasn't home at the time.
