ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

I thought we had a thread but it must have been before the crash. This, while I can read and comprehend the reasons, DISGUSTS me. It is just WRONG. This woman got away with too much already. She agreed to these terms repeatedly. And apparently the State nor the Judge covered or thought of this possibility of the way they are looking at it... Hmmm. Seems to me too she had a very high powered attorney who brokered a way too sweet deal who also should have well advised her of what she was agreeing to... I wonder just where this "oversight" or "mistake" came from... Unreal but somehow not surprised...

Last I knew her nursing license was not even revoked yet... SMDH.

and she was advised of that sentence and basically agreed to it. :gaah:

Exactly my thought. Repeatedly she heard it and agreed to it and understood it. They can take their appeals or whatever it is and shove it. Some things should come down to plain old common sense and justice. She escaped enough.

I don’t remember seeing this mentioned here.

Maybe this one deserves a thread as there are no answers yet other than he was found.

Thrown in a dumpster, that just enrages me. I certainly had not heard of this missing child, now dead child. May he RIP and that remark is so inadequate. There aren't words.

It is also outrageous it never seemed to hit news? To tell you the truth, I can think of no Wyoming cases off of the top of my head so maybe that is LE or maybe it is the news and it just is not covered? MSM is worthless imo these days and not sure what the Wyoming markets are for media even had anyone picked it up. Sounds just as likely LE put nothing out...

Started a thread:

It's been in quite a few MSM stories.
