Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

I'm not sure how they will do those when they do start plowing here. I guess we'll find out.

That's what kind of cracks me up when neighborhoods think they want speed bumps installed. If they do that, your roads will not get plowed in the winter by the city. It seems to be a "careful of what you wish for" kind of thing. They all change their minds when that is brought up and those neighborhoods will be on their own to dig out.

here's one I came across tonight, I haven't watched it and normally don't come here and link new ones I don't even know of but it sounds so different and unusual that 1) I wondered if anyone has heard about this and 2) because if anyone watches it and I can't get around to it, interested to hear more. Plus it might make for an interesting thread. When I went in so I could get the link I heard a minute or two but no time like I said to watch it so far, and it sounds like she was missing at first and found quite a bit later. That's all I know. He at home beheaded and she in a body of water tired to a cinder block or some such. Neighbors in fear by the headline. I would be too. I don't even know the time frame but guessing it's not old. Nancy has really been putting the stuff out. I see many others, not watching them of course, all of them, but just saying she's been very hard at it lately. I don't watch many but her one on Haileigh Cummings I thought was darned good and glad I did.

I remember that case. I wonder if they'll ever solve it.

It's about ten years old, IIRC. The way they were killed is beyond gruesome.

That video says they recently found the perp's, or one of the perp's, DNA on the man's clothing.

The Sheriff's theory is that it was someone who was offended by something they did.

The DNA is a huge step forward for this case. If it's not in CODIS then they should be able to do a familial search. I hope they are able to solve this soon.

I really want to know the motive for this. It is so violent.

She does that once in awhile. Since i didn't watch it, I thought it might be a current case, and it didn't indicate it. I probably even then know of it but don't recall. I do recall a few older husband and wife murders but not offhand that the wife was found separately, etc. Not sure. Unsolved though you say?

So she did have new info in it then? DNA wow. I saw also you said Oregon and that state doesn't ring a bell for me at all on this, I was thinking maybe of some case I seem to recall in Florida but clearly wrong.

Emu said it was Oregon or was he talking another case. I know of the Demonds but have forgotten all of the details on that one.

The husband was found in the garage decapitated. The wife was thrown into the lake with a concrete block tied to her.

You watched it so I' not going to argue that with you. I haven't. And maybe she or their show had it wrong. I can only take your word for it (how rare is that for me to say lol). I recall the Dermonds or Demonds vaguely, I know I followed that one). I thought both were found dead but perhaps she was found after.

I also recall one of an older couple and it was a judge and his wife and I thought it was Florida. And maybe that it is the GA one too. I haven't had a chance to read the thread here or refresh.

I too would like to know who would do something so evil and hideous. Interesting though that you said they now have DNA. That should worry the perp/s. I wish I had had time/have time to watch Nancy's and review the Dermond thread but just can't at the moment. I am coming in an doing a post or two here and there but been texting with the guy taking care of my place that there's an offer and more, waiting for realtor to call in 1/2 an hour or thereabouts and making a list of questions and so on.

It isn't sold and I will likely counter but there's a lot to be done if it ends up in an agreement and they want possession fairly quickly.

It may not even pan out, not sure how qualified the buyer, won't know that til I talk to my realtor. IF this works out, it would be a major thing in my life. MAJOR. I could actually TAKE A BREATH which I feel I haven't in years. And relax for more than one millisecond.

You know when I refresh, I will likely recall the case IF that is the one and not OR as you said. I do remember something about water but not sure if I am mixing up cases. As to the one said. I only saw Nancy's headline of course and didn't know if new or old and yeah I'd like to have it clear. Can't do it tonight though.

It is so evil and heinous and at first I thought of not the mob but you know, someone trying to show others if you mess with us, this is what will happen to you or yours even. Gangs, drugs, whoever. BUT these are older people... But If you go after the loved ones as a threat...? I'm talking blind though as I haven't watched it or refreshed on the GA case. So I can't go with knowing the recent show of even NG OR that case in GA. I sure don't recall one from OR but if you heard that, then I can't dispute it as I haven't watched it.
