ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

This is not a current case and maybe some are familiar with it but I was not... Talk about a failure of the system and more all of the way around. First, the guy's first(?) victim is scared to testify so he only gets six years, I am not going to blame her, she was a victim, however, on the charges remaining I think the sentence could have been tougher. Then he messes up in that six years in prison and still is let out. He then is on a GPS which no one seems to monitor EVER or check... Now they are doing a law or trying to in Ohio and of course the politicians say it will cost taxpayers' money but it is important. Oh really? Cut it somewhere that is unnecessary... There is sure plenty of gravy out there or perhaps fire the people who are NOT doing their job or monitoring and get decent hard working employees. Maybe parole/probation officers are overworked but gee in today's age, can't a GPS just start sounding an alarm when an offender is out of his area or past curfew?? Maybe it could be made to start screaming on his ankle so everyone around knows where he is and that something is up... Just use technology... Anyhow, this man killed this girl when on an ankle monitor and further was responsible for many other crimes in the area but I guess agencies never put it together or someone is not required to monitor such in their jobs... Smdh. The perp is responsible first and foremost but boy he is not the only one. This never should have happened.

I'll have to watch later.

Police: 2 found dead at home of driver who led officers on pursuit, took own life

Suffolk police say they attempted to pull a vehicle over in the Patchogue area Tuesday, but the driver fled.
During the pursuit, one person jumped out of the vehicle. Police say the vehicle kept moving and then crashed.
As police approached the vehicle, they say the driver slashed his throat and died at the scene.
Police later went to the driver's Bellport home, where 2 bodies were found, according to investigators. The bodies are known to be relatives of the driver.
This is a developing story. Stay with News 12 for more.

I mentioned this podcast in the Morphew case, it was mentioned in Plunder's podcast on Morphew. Adventures With Purpose, this team finds a car and a body of a young man missing for eight months. The mother had begged LE to look in the river, they did not (they claimed they did but if they did they never recovered the car or body?). So the family contacted these guys and they found it fairly quickly. It was interesting to watch although sad for the family but now they have answers.

Anyhow, this is a first for me of watching these guys and it was worth watching.

This is downright odd. At first, I thought if he meant to kill his daughter, he would not call the cops over to help. You would hardly want to have LE as witnesses and to document it. It almost sounds like he was looking for them to get his car open for free like in the old days where some nice departments would jimmy the old locks. Was the air on or NOT? If she died it appears not... However, I think an autopsy would be in order.

Now on the other side of things, if this child was truly in a hot car with no air conditioning, what are the cops waiting for despite what he said? They wait until she does die to gain access? They have no power to do anything??

While there are some bad LE, perhaps this is the down side of the constant attacks on LE, they are scared to do anything for how it would look, like to break his windows...

I don't know. I would actually like to see more detail on this one...

Poor baby.

I see it as the dumb azz fathers fault. Couldn't afford to repair the window on his NEW car. Locksmith price was too high. And he is too STUPID!

I haven't checked current crimes in a bit because of life but this one is tragic and I had not heard of it. So she was only 7.5 months pregnant, some woman cut the baby out and took it to the hospital where it died! Sad that not only mom but even the baby did not survive. I hope justice is swift and fast in this one. No perp named at least as of the time of this article, but someone was arrested.
