Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Hmm. I know what I normally would think but she was seen leaving a night club with someone. That though is not to say she did not go elsewhere nor make it back to the ex's. I hope they are checking to ensure he was home and for further surveillance from the club onward, etc.

Here is a bit more in this unusual case. I don't know that I would believe them, intellectually disabled or not as they lied about all else and there are four of them doing so... And they are unsure about a cause of death or if they can determine one? I sure hope they plan on trying... Anyhow...

On top of Covid and other things, I am going to long remember 2020 as the year of copycat suicides, murders and accidents... Who even knows which are and aren't? In the past few years, we have seen a hot car death or two of a child where the parent was believed and it truly could be an accident. Now this year we see tons of them and at least one off the top of my head that was staged... We have had autistic drownings, some of which were put down as accidents, but then we have some that were not and were murders, and not just drownings but the child missing and then found dead. We have two mom Florida car pond deaths and we have storage container deaths now where with the first one, Marilane Carter, no one had ever even heard of such a thing... I won't even go into the other subject of people missing on hikes who can't explain what happened and how they survived...

Far be it from me to say which ones are true, which are suicide, murder or an accident but it has been downright strange... One thing we do know is that a car in a storage unit/shipping container was no accident...

I will just say 2020 has been one helluva year...

ETA: I forgot about all of the parents kidnapping their own children.

I.also.tend to believe that its partially because we've had more time this year to read about this stuff. We're not out and about as usual and home self entertaining ourselves. But also I blame 2020

It could be but it still is just odd. My life has not actually changed that much to be honest. I followed crime and such in 2019 and had about the same amount of time to look at it all. Maybe it is due to more FB, Youtube and internet coverage, that has certainly grown this year...

It just has been strange and noticeable I feel imo. And maybe the more that hear about other events, get thoughts and copy those ideas... I sure don't know...
