UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson killed in Midtown Manhattan by masked gunman in December 2024

Yes, he's an Ivy League graduate and privileged murderous brat imo. And yes, his family has $$ which makes these people even bigger idiots. Just trying to affect things imo.

I was at first more upset but it only lasted a few seconds until I did the math on it... And realized this isn't even a drop in the bucket of any number of the population. And that it isn't that much money either. I don't doubt they hoped the news would make a big splash and affect something. I guess it got a headline or two but then hopefully, as we are, most will go well, big deal, some idiots parted with a few bucks for a murderer.

It's just as unhinged as people who wrote/write to the likes of Manson or Watts. Those that are part of the group behind it and the ones who donated need some serious help. I hope they get it.

I also hope it affects his representation. Okay he pays with it and the money runs out as it likely will but he is loving his attys. I guess at that point his parents will have to pay and what if they won't? Then he's stuck with public defenders having to start from scratch.

I actually saw this on Scott last night is where I heard it. And he was saying having money does matter in the legal system and this money will allow him to buy a more top rate lawyer... SUch really isn't fair but is the way it is. I hope it is blown through in no time flat and then the parents have to pay, not that anyone can make them. I'm curious as to what they think of what their son did and where they stand in this...

I don't think it's changed has it, that supposedly this insurer was NEVER his insurer and he had no "private" beef with them over any personal medical issues of his own? That makes these people even BIGGER idiots. He did not do this for the "people" for God's sake.

And he's a coward on top of it--since when EVER has anyone thought someone who shoots someone in the back and the victim has no idea anyone is intending to do so is some HERO? That's a COWARD, not a HERO.

UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting sends supporters a message from jail

Luigi Mangione, the suspect accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, shared a statement after receiving mail while in jail.

The 26-year-old, who is charged with first-degree murder, shared a message posted on a website set up by his defense to provide information about his cases. In the post, he thanked people who have written to him as he is incarcerated in a New York City detention facility.

“I am overwhelmed by - and grateful for - everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support. Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial, and even class divisions, as mail has flooded MDC from across the country, and around the globe. While it is impossible for me to reply to most letters, please know that I read every one that I receive. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write. I look forward to hearing more in the future,” he said.

Due to the extraordinary volume of inquiries and outpouring of support, this site was created and is maintained by Luigi Mangione’s New York legal defense team to provide answers to frequently asked questions, accurate information about his cases, and dispel misinformation. I guess they are making it free because noone is interested in paying to watch such rubbish about the brutal murder of a father of two.

The more than $300,000 in donations by more than 10,000 individual donors prove that's not true.
They are wasting their time and money is all it proves. I think its disgusting how a murderer can be worshipped like some of these idiots are doing. It sure does explain how people got sucked in to worship people like Manson though IMO. It's craziness.

Well when one has a culture and generations who have seen that infamous or notorious people are now worshipped or get their own TV show, or are idolized, it isn't really a surprise. But then again, like we discussed, the number of people who donated for instance is not even so much as a drop in the bucket nor a percentage worth counting of our population. Such hits the news though which I guess gives some the appearance it must be a bigger thing than it is.

This was from December and indicates he does not need donations anyway as his family is very wealthy. However, a clause in the will means anyone charged with a felony cannot inherit.

Seems it was a very stupid thing he has done. Destroyed his own life as well his victim's.

The sun labels it "sick fan club" and I'll certainly agree with them on that one.

I knew most of this but it was a good refresher. The sum is thought to be at least $30 million but some say possibly up to $100 million. Of course press likes to use the $100m. With either sum there are ten kids or siblings of Luigi's parent (it is the dad's side isn't it?). So that $30 to $100 mill is split amongst 10, and I assume only to the children and not the grandchildren like Luigi. While a lot of money that wouldn't be neverending, depending on lifestyles especially. However, I guess the ownership of country clubs and their own businesses, etc. probably brings in a lot of money as well.

It says the trustees would have the option of not providing money to anyone committing a felony, etc., it does NOT sound as if it is a RULE. For that reason, I see that entire part as mattering little and it's just "news" that is sensational or of interest.

He'd been out of contact with the parents in recent months and then this happened. None have come to court or shown support of him. Parents did issue a brief statement.

You know, it's interesting how the fan club is anti the victim and his $$ but are just fine with all the $$ of the Magiones, the Ivy League, the unearned wealth, etc. Kind of hypocritical.

To this day I've seen nothing other than this "kid" is an entitled brat. Now he's a murderous one.

He won't need any of his family's money for much in prison anyhow so I really don't think the money matters much other than if they pay for his defense, those few fan club dollars will only go so far.

You don't have our health care system.

The murderer has nothing to do with our health care system nor does giving him money.

He has changed nothing and he's nothing but another cold blooded murderer. All he accomplished is the lengthy prison sentence he is going to receive.

I never said he was right to do what he did. It just explains why some support him.

Your recent problems with the health care system, has been a lot worse for others. It wasn't right, but I get it.

What Brian says in his corporate videos, is total BS.

Brian Thompson was under investigation by the DOJ when he was murdered.

He and other higher ups had sold a lot of shares of stock recently and the stock took a big drop.

Brian Thompson was not a good innocent person.

So we have two A-Holes involved in this. One woman who is interviewed, said United Health turned down a hysterectomy. They told her, it wasn't medically necessary.

The more procedures they turn down, the higher the stock rises.
