Who is the Long Island Serial Killer?

The Long Island serial killer (also referred to as LISK, the Gilgo Beach Killer or the Craigslist Ripper) is an unidentified suspected serial killer who is believed to have murdered 10 to 16 people over a period of nearly 20 years.

It seemed to me that all of the killings were not the same perpetrator. Which is very frightening. But the way the victims were disposed of were different from others. That just doesn't fit with a serial killers pattern. Unless something disturbs that. In this, I saw no reason for a perpetrator to do that. Different modes of killing too. A serial killer usually kills by one method they find they like that works well for them. Of course that isn't 100% of the time. Some do change or include different methods for different reasons. IMO this guy didn't kill all of the victims found.

I'm 99% sure that this isn't the guy who killed Shannan Gilbert.

I agree. That area where all those victims were found is marshy. It took awhile to find them all. And they were actively looking. I feel it was the guy who was her last client. Of all of them. His property overlooks the area. He's very suspicious. So this isn't the same man.

The woman and toddler. I suspect was personal. Very violent. Dismemberment. And still a UID's. The man too. I don't think he's linked to the woman at all. But still UID. They were found in a different area also.

Good job. You have his attorney's name which I never noticed all day or knew of but it's been kind of a off day for me. More than that actually but I did wonder who he would hire, etc. or who would represent him.

I read the announcement here this morning. But didn't have time to read it. I was here a little while and had to get ready and take care of Lucky, Tommie's cat, Before my dad picked me up because my car won't start. Again. She called me tonight. Before, Not good enough. Now, Overdoing it. Never happy. O.K. "I have 31 yrs experience. Lucky is just fine". She really is ridiculous. Throw his canned food away from the morning away after 1. It's contaminated. OH FFS!!!!! There is no point saying anything. Oreo's food was much more complicated. Please. Wash the bowl. Let it dry. Give him a new one. It's contaminated until it dries. He knows if your giving him the same bowl.

There are also, is it six? Unsolved LI murders yet of dumped bodies in similar ways to these but they've never said are connected...

There were four bodies "wrapped in burlap" and found within close proximity to one another and the victims were missing in '07, '09, and two in '10.
Remains of two more victims were subsequently found along that same stretch of hwy although some distance away from the four. Those victims had been dismembered and their other remains had already been found in Manorville, LI, as I recall, relatively soon after they'd been missing in '00 and '03.
There are other remains along that same stretch of hwy - I think they're still unidentified- of a male and a woman nicknamed "Peaches" from a tattoo and a toddler believed to be hers. Peaches was matched to other remains found in '97 in (I think) Fire Island. Another unidentified woman was found on Fire Island in '96.

I have the same thought but also have a few others one of which is he was searching the internet and worried about things and if they could connect phones and more, etc. and I think maybe he changed his area of disposal and a few other things to confuse.

On the other hand, there is no mention of him as a suspect in most of the other murders. Yet anyhow.

Maybe not but there sure are a lot of guys on LI who hire prostitutes and/or dump them there then... And end up dead as she did as well.... There was a LOT Of gossip through the years in this case which included powerful people including cops with prostitutes present and big money, etc. hosting and so on...

I know today you've watched some things and have it fresher in mind all of the details on Shannon, the doctor, others, etc. But I've looked at it all through the years. I usually remember always my guess on a case but not everything that led me there but I always know there was enough reason.

On another note, I know you don't live anywhere close to NYC but do you know offf the top of your head how far Long Island is to Manhattan? I KNOW I could google but I have a headache from he77, dealt with some not fun stuff today, have a grocery delivery coming and barely got some laundry done and showered and more I won't go into it, not necessary. Just not a great day. This was good news but my focus isn't what it should be on anything.

Shannan is the one that gets me. Mostly because of her mom. Her advocating and meeting such a tragic end. I've seen "Lost Girls". "Amy Ryan" plays "Mari Gilbert". A very versatile actress and underrated.

Burlap, Dismemberment. Then burying. It's different. Someone took the time to bury all those girls. That's why I strongly suspect her last client. He wouldn't notice anything all those times?.

Thanks for the refresher, I for one need it even though I think even in this last year I looked at it all again. Or most of it.

So the others were mostly before these... I could make an argument as to where DNA and other tech stood in those earlier years and perhaps he became worried about such or his methods and ways evolved over time. But who knows? I certainly don't.

What we do know is he lived there starting in '94 buying his mom's house so he was definitely in Long Island. Dismembered but they also took a freezer. Do we necessarily know the others weren't in any way... Or are they looking at the freezer thinking they can connect them? Just wild guesses. Well not totally wild but definitely not sure.

Again like i said in another posts, there are are a lot of prostitute hiring men in Long Island and apparently murdering ones who dump there or go there...I'd also note cell phones etc. would have been a whole lot different in those years or the tracking of burner phones...

The man isn't stupid and yet he is, they all are. They just have the advantage of knowing who the killer is (them) and what they are going to do next and LE doesn't. I have a bit of disagreement that they are all so smart because they simply have the advantage because of that. He was caught by not eating his crust for goodness sakes

Her mom is deceased. I've never heard anything about a father to the 3 Gilbert sisters. And another sister Stevie Smith. Sarra is going to rot in prison. And SHOULD!!!! So there is Sherre, Sarra, And Stevie. But I leave Sarra out of it.
