Who is the Long Island Serial Killer?

The Long Island serial killer (also referred to as LISK, the Gilgo Beach Killer or the Craigslist Ripper) is an unidentified suspected serial killer who is believed to have murdered 10 to 16 people over a period of nearly 20 years.

I don't know how far you are in catching up but they took a freezer from his home. I also just saw a YT comment that they dug up his yard. Freezer is fact, not sure about the digging. These murders were years ago but I guess he could have kept the remains for a day or two or something and then disposed of them and they hope to find evidence. OR even though you feel different killers, could he be connected to the others and have body parts? If so, then I'd really have to wonder about the wife. Did she not use the freezer? Just saying...

Maybe they took it as a basic usual thing in such a case, hard to say...

IIRC There were 11 counted as victims. I heard of the 3 for sure linked to this POS. One pending so that would make the 11 of course. I'm not sure why they were holding back on victim #4.

the child porn disturbs me for many reasons and I've heard no one anywhere really talk of it.

First he HAS children/had children so I don't think I need to say more on that one.

Second are we to believe he never assaulted a child? Or even killed one? Why because he is some Good Samaritan and moral man who puts kids off limits? OF course he doesn't he has child porn and HE HAS KILLED people already.

He acts on his fantasies.

The women were small, is this the reason too?

I'd really like to know of his travels for one. If he had a home in another state, he traveled that far at least.

Do you know of any SKs that were killing adults but had child porn as well as abusive sexual material towards women? Curious.

The man is almost 60 years old and these murders were years ago. I'm just not thinking they were his only crimes...

I'm pretty sure one of the wife's trips was to Massachusetts so home there makes sense. Another was to Iceland. He also likely traveled to Mass if a home there of course at other times. Manufactured excuses not to go with her I'm sure. That's what cheating husbands do much less cheating serial killers.

I agree. This man didn't just flip a switch in just a little over a decade. It starts early. Fantasizing, Peeping, Pictures, Movies. Then that isn't enough. They then act on the plan they fantasized about. And like you say. Killing women, And having child porn?. So were the sex workers the object to take his aggressions out on. Eventhough it was really kids he wanted?. Some serial killers do cross over into age groups. But usually they have a type and age group. I see it differentiates when it is a targeted group. Like sex workers. Serial killers usually murder victims of their own race. That doesn't apply also in the cases of sex workers. And the guy is going on 60. It would be extremely rare for him to start killing in his 40's. Serial killers generally start early 20's to mid 30's at the latest. But like you say. When they started killing, It is very doubtful they never did anything. And even if it's back to being a juvenile. I bet this guy has some sex offenses. Well he's out. So he must have. If he had a bag of marijuana, He would still have been locked up. I am VERY GLAD the attitudes of alot of people have changed about sex workers. And their lives are just as important. That LE works just as hard on those cases as anyone else's.

Among the breaks in the case that allowed police to hone in on the suspect were cellphone pings of calls he made to one of the victim's families that traced back to the Massapequa area.

Law enforcement officials felt strongly that the alleged killer was from Long Island because that cell phone tower ping – which came from a phone belonging to one of the victims after her death – originated from the Massapequa area, according to two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the case.

Heuermann allegedly used burner phones to meet his victims and was seen on surveillance videos in cellphone stores buying the burners. He even stole two cellphones from victims, prosecutors alleged, using one to taunt the victim's family.

As NBC News previously reported officials believed the alleged killer used Melissa Barthelemy’s cell phone to call her teen sister repeatedly soon after Melissa disappeared in 2009. The alleged killer made explicit sexual comments, claimed to have killed Melissa and related details of her killing that only the murderer would know. Police believed the caller was a white man and the calls came from midtown Manhattan.

It was previously unreported that the same victim’s cellphone briefly pinged off of a tower in the Massapequa area around the same time. It was that potential clue that led officials to believe the suspect could one day be found in that area.

Did see one that said his home in MA is about as dumpy looking. Now these homes wouldn't be the worst looking homes for maybe a lower class to middle class American (does such exist any longer) especially on Long Island and at least they'd own one but for a renowned architect they are.

Also heard he was involved in something nonprofit with some type of abuse. Hmmm. And some project or housing thing in Harlem that is an issue or has corruption or some such swirling around it. Also hmmm.

I believe it was News Nation and this came from the attorney of two of the girls' families and one was Shannon's if I recall.

Don't have time or the effort right now to go find it but if anyone is interested that's where I think it was from.. He even called the architect's homes seedy ,the one in Mass. as well.

I am finding it VERY difficult to believe this one isn't responsible for a whole lot else and maybe in other areas through the years as well.

I agree with you in that he didn’t start killing that late in life. That just doesn’t make sense at all. When was it that he bought the house in Long Island from his mother? And did he have a house in Massachusetts before that?

Bought home from his mom in 1994. Worked in Manhattan since 1987 per that interview back when with him. if I remember correctly he started his own firm about the time he bought mom's house. Made me wonder if he came into some kind of money around then to be able to do both things and did he work for someone else prior to starting his own firm.

The Gilgo murders I am finding varying info on. One says they were from 1996 to 2011. Another says they were from 2007 to 2010. I have no time this morning but throwing this out there for anyone with the time to determine this and why the variance in the years. Either way, what was he doing before this. The 1996 one would have him killing shortly after he moved there.

I guess I thought of the Mass. home as being bought after, maybe as a summer home or second residence. Never occurred to me it was probably first or their former home but that does make sense.

Yeah, he VERY likely did not start his serial killing here and at minimum has had other crimes like rape, etc.

As I've said the child porn REALLY bothers me too. Even though I have no desire for nasty details, I would like to now if that porn was just girls or both girls and boys. For a few reasons. It might make the toddler fit. and the Asian man even.... I also simply wonder if he was doing damage to children also although I don't want to at the same time even think about it.

Maybe he even bought his mom's home and moved because he felt he needed to if he was committing crimes where he lived formerly IF Mass or wherever.

This all makes me realize there is a lot missing as to his timeline in life. This is why I expected the digging to start and more news to be coming. I don't have any time, figured my wakeup time today and hour off, not in my favor but maybe someone who has some can take a look at at least why these disappearance years on Gilgo vary.
