I think LE are doing the right thing here by investigating it all. With a bit of pressure, CB could do a deal and blab it all and probably drop a ton of people right in the poop, hopefully.
Don't take me wrong, but you seem to be a big believer deals are going to come like in this one and Delphi. I don't see such at all... There is no DP which is often the only reason a deal comes. No defendant these days seems to plead guilty and defense attorneys seem bent on taking it all the way even with no defense and I fail to see how CB could have any defense so don't understand the point of his NG plea but then why not right...? Nothing to lose.

I'm not convinced anyone else is in the poop with him as you put it. I think they may well just have their own sh*t to cover and not want the feds too close etc. Or near their office...

I can believe some encountered each other looking for sex workers on "the corner" or swinging, etc. but not convinced anyone else had anything to do with CB's murders. Maybe, maybe not. Or knowledge of them... The 2012 timing is interesting but CB also seems, along with his family, a bit of a nobody. He touts his own importance doing city stuff, etc. but no one else does. But then who knows...

One similarity I have noticed. In the Wiki thing, I read a bit, far from all, and I really have to get moving but Burke had he relationship with the prostitute he left with his gun etc. in his car and so on and then he had one with a married woman. I skimmed some but no time to do all. Yet his recent arrest was for propositioning a male. Now CB is the same way if the Vergata story is true so both these men swung both ways and were perverted imo. CB also has hints of interest in children with his internet searches and that scares me to death... This is why I am not a big fan of profiling... This is a vastly different day and age and someone into anything weird sexually ends up easily down many rabbit holes on the internet and it is CLEAR CB was reading the profiling stuff to throw off profilers and LE.

Sorry to anyone who thinks it non PC to say someone going both ways is perverted... Clearly both have major issues, interests and control needs... They are both clearly disturbed individuals and probably psychos. Again apologies to anyone who thinks that not PC.

I don't ever much believe in generalizing but we are also talking NYC which to me is much like talking LA or Hollywood over the decades... Different places and different beasts. I don't mean all there are like that but uhm, it's just different... A far more anything goes than where I grew up and reside... Always has been. And apparently these two well....

And that's without even getting into politics...

This is an old 2016 article that I am posting as it has some interesting stuff about the belt, Oak Beach parties and Burke.

The witness says the belt belonged to an escort friend of Burke's with the initials HM. She is named in the article. Again, it may have been posted before but has more relevance the more we know.

I also remember the officer who took Vergata and the hooker to CBs when Asa was there and pregnant, had to go back to get his belt. Just a coincidence or what?

CB would do a deal just to have butter on his bread LOL.

While looking for more info on the case I came across this article that explains they took the dog bed during the last search. The article states why would they take the dog bed unless they have found dog DNA on a victim. The article also says that if he is charged with any of the out of state murders, it would become a federal case. That would then warrant the death penalty, giving more leeway for a deal. Indiana already has the death penalty, and we know RA already asked for a deal, so it wouldn't surprise me there at all.

Just getting up to date on these two -Spota and McPartland lost their appeals last August.

McPartland was released early in December 2023 on home confinement. Disgraceful.

This is an old 2016 article that I am posting as it has some interesting stuff about the belt, Oak Beach parties and Burke.

The witness says the belt belonged to an escort friend of Burke's with the initials HM. She is named in the article. Again, it may have been posted before but has more relevance the more we know.

I have yet to read the link but thought i'd say first that I don't recall the officer having to go back for a belt. Last thing I recall is them leaving and her seeing Karen and asking him if they should leave her and him saying she was fine, they were playing a game. How did I miss the belt thing? He went back with her or back in before they left or went back alone days later or what?

It is thought the belt belongs to CB's grandfather... Or that is speculated anyhow... and that turned upside down it is WH, not HM. Or turned right side up... Whichever the case...

I've not eliminated by a long shot a Burke connection here to CB and to parties, to swinging, to many things. CB still could have done the murders himself though while also doing group things and so on... Like I said I have yet to read the article but do know about the parties and different rumors that have been around for years and around enough they are very hard to ignore and I recall it being a number of LE at some of these parties including sex workers, etc... There's probably no end to the different things and whether big parties or some private smaller ones...

Burke is definitely a corrupt and rotten man and he beat the heck out of a CUFFED prisoner. He's also a pathetic example these days of a fallen man who can't keep his pecker in his shorts in a park and is totally lost all ability to control his sickness imo.

I don't know that he's a murderer, no idea, but would he turn a blind eye to someone he knew was and things like that or even take favors or keep silent as they both knew the other's doings...

Yeah, there's a lot to wonder but CB's attorney is also going to or has already hinted at defense making Burke the killer and I sure don't want that working, not that I think it will. They have CB pretty dead to rights imo.

In fact what is that man going to do for a defense? As more murders get piled on his client...

I didn't see anything about a belt in that article, did I miss it?

All interesting but this part stood out to me, what is she saying, that she gave police a tip about Burke or some other Oak Beach resident that may be a POI in the LISK case? Who? Brewer? Hackett? Burke? And is she then saying she gave them a confidential tip and LE turned around and told the guy? And that' she then contacted the filmmakers and was put in touch with Ray? She did so because LE failed her and outed her to the very person she thought could be a POI? It's not really clear but that's the way I'm taking it? How did you take this part? See below.

"Leanne learned Burke’s true identity, she told reporters, from a friend after the second encounter, and again recognized him on TV after his arrest for beating Loeb. She said she later contacted police with a tip about an Oak Beach resident that she said could be a person of interest in the Long Island Serial Killer case, and told reporters that police had informed that man about her tip. That’s when she contacted Josh Zeman and Rachel Mills, filmmakers of The Killing Season, a docu-series about the LISK case that recently aired on A&E. The duo put her in touch with Ray."

This was years back before CB would have been known of to any or to them most likely and so the interest in Burke is not surprising. It's also significant his being at an Oak Beach party, etc. and more details she gives. Ray does make leaps though as he recently did with the daughter, cannibalism and the like, and he did it hear saying that puts Burke in the Gilbert thing when it doesn't, not in the way a LE and any trial would have to connect such. It's interesting and may be something in a civil trial which has lesser bars to reach than criminal but he skips dots, John Ray does.

I mean I get it, and I got it even with the daughter but this kind of thing is what also gets him a fair amount of detractors who think he's just going beyond what most would. Had he just pointed out Victoria's pictures and given how this really should give some reason for thoughts and further investigation, but he about outright accuses her and the whole family, and he does the same here with Burke. And you know darned well I am not defending that disgusting corrupt PIG of a "man". HE will and probably has by now maybe asked Burke about these couple of parties this girl dealt with him at, who else was there, and more in depositions. Civil cases are completely different than criminal where the accused or defendant never has to speak. That's his angle with most of these things but still he is leaping to conclusions that there is no evidence of.

Burke is a pig but this was back before CB was known of, at least that we know of and now they have the LISK suspect. Ray was trying to make him seem to be that suspect at that time or some part of it. And/or at least how it related to Shannon. Everyone was looking at everyone and Burke just being in Oak Beach and paying an escort and getting physical with her and his notoriety that was starting to show with things he did would be enough for Ray and Gilbert's family to suspect him, he squashed the investigation basically or anyone looking for her. So yeah there's reason but there is no mention of CB here at these parties because it was before we ever heard of him and I'm not sure he is the type to have attended such but WHO KNOWS, if the swinging thing is true, then he was the type perhaps... I could see either case.

I truly think he committed these murders alone as a lone wolf but I do allow for finding it hard to believe Asa nor the daughter never knew a thing or picked up on anything OR even knew more than that.

Again I saw absolutely nothing about the things you said about the belt. Did I miss it?

LOL, Asa would sneak him butter except she probably finds she eats it all herself before she goes to visit. Of course, now though she has enough money to buy more and even bribe a guard to get butter to him... For a dilapidated home, he sure seemed to be used to some creature comforts.... Butter, pizza delivery, sex workers at his beck and call... Some swinging, a wife who stands by his side through thick and thin, man the guy had it all... Still has the wife but the other things he seems to be missing badly... Like butterrrrr of all things to write another notorious SK about......

I read most of that article at work, I think on my phone I coudn't read the end of it or some such, meaning at break. They quoted Joe and he's one of my faves these last months. There are several retired NYPD, former BIG careers and I've gotten where I can take or leave the others but i'm liking his shows and his willingness to go there more so than the others imo. I mean he had John Ray on, the others poo poohed him up until some of their viewers started saying HEY AND until some other podcasters started taking him seriously AND until Harrison shown he would see him and listen to him and showed it to the public. Then they had to start taking back some of their sh*t they've said over many years about Ray and not just recently. There are a few other reasons I don't watch them much any longer, due to other cases, I do like Police Off the Cuff on occasion but they aren't like Joe.

Anyhow yes, I read the dog thing and when I recently commented about a plea deal like you mentioned and NY not having the DP, it's funny because it crossed my mind that if this went federal and state lines or other states are involved, the DP CAN be brought in. I did not mention it as we don't know that yet, it wasn't what the post was about, I had read that very long but very good article of yours before work that took a lot of time I did not plan on, etc. I believe it was before work. My days have run together badly.

You know, you just KNOW by educated guess that he is going to be found of having done a murder/s in another state/s at some point... I'm not sold on Tierney yet by the way but he isn't Burke and he'd better not refuse the fed's help if that happens. I think if it involves other states they can go ahead ANYHOW though without the local "permission".

As far as the dog bed, what dog are we talking of? I know Asa has one now but when was the last murder? KNOWN murder he is likely being looked at for at this point. I can't keep the dates straight great. Some in the 90s and the others in the early 2000s no? At least ten or 20 years ago? A dog would possibly be long gone and the one they have now be one they got since...? Did they like everything else, keep EVERYTHING for their entire marriage and lifetime? So it has all dogs they had hair on it and they never threw it out or bought a new dog bed? Or ARE they looking at something more recent for a killing...? Am I thinking right? I wonder if Joe did his own show on this and if so I should watch and find...

Okay I now read the small part I didn't see at work, the ending part. It's a bit weird that LE hid most all things they removed in this second search but walked out with the dog bed not hidden or even attempted to be hidden. I can't help but think that wasn't accidental or an oversight...

As we know prosecution doesn't share or can't or shouldn't is the way they tend to work more than what is wise where we've seen defense talk and try to influence in both Delphi, Read, etc. while prosecution stays mum but there are WAYS of getting certain things into the public WITHOUT breaching that way... Like one of the few things seen they took being a dog bed...

Just saying.... Now on the other hand maybe they want the focus on something other than what they were really after but good chance they actually are comparing pet hairs too and well kind of without saying so let that be seen... Interesting.

But again, how old is the dog they currently have?

McPartland was released early in December 2023 on home confinement. Disgraceful.

Yeah as I said earlier (think I did) Spota was very bad news too. Not sure I recalled McPartland. Is that like the McDonald's of car parts? Human parts? Furnace parts? Odd name imo. Sounds like a cross between McDonald's and an amusement park.

It is disgraceful. So arrested and charged all corruption based and apparently corruption exists still and someone let him out EARLY.... IMAGINE THAT. That would never go on in this world now would it....

All people that can rat on others in power I wait for it with... You now Ghislaine, Alex Murdaugh, these three, Burke, Spota, McPartland... Others.

The going back for the belt was not in this article but was in the affidavit of the prostitute who met Vergata. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

The article explains the belt initials as HM and explained who that was in relation to Burke. Did you get that bit in the article?

I am thinking the Oak Beach parties could have been at Hackett or Brewer's houses or both. "home for wayward women" ?

Not sure but looks old to me when I saw a pic of them with it. 10 years old would be 2014 so any murders from that timeframe? Did they dig up the garden to find previous pets?

The only murder that could possibly have their current pets hair found on the body would be this one in SC that I only just added to the list. They will also have his phone details for this time period as well as the vehicle too. I don't think they have found this girl though.

Maybe I did read it then as I read the affidavit, pretty certain but don't recall it offhand.

Interesting thought on either of those two throwing the parties. After I read it, I googled Oak Beach population and this is weird. I come up with 3i6, then the next thing said 180 something, another said 280 or so and another said 600 or just above and another just over 14,000! Some are slightly different years but all within close proximity in years. WTH??

At 36 it would make Brewer or Hackett very likely, at 14K it would not necessarily.

And no, I read that article, all of it I thought and did not see the part about the belt. I may have to look again. It is 4:30 a.m. here and I'm an idiot who is going to wish on my day off tomorrow I'd went to bed and slept in but not this late (or early) as if I did, the entire day would be almost shot. I was just so in need of some down time of doing nothing but being on the computer catching up with crime, etc. although one show incensed me...

A buried dog would not still have hair would it? Perhaps they could match DNA somehow though? No idea.

That's what I mean is the murders are so long ago I wouldn't think the dog would be a thing (current dog) but that it MAY mean they are looking a some OTHER murder since then which would be quite interesting... I guess it is possible they took it just on some random chance that it is an old pet bed and hair might remain due to the not great housekeeper Asa maybe was... It wouldn't necessarily be the case though or a sure thing or of as much interest necessarily resulting in anything...

It's one thing to find her or the daughter's hairs but a dog long gone not necessarily... Not unheard of for a dog to live some number of years but the victims in Gilgo, etc. we know are quite some time ago... And Manorville, etc.

And who KNOWS, I mean they could have the same pet bed from more than one dog over the years... If so, that's kind of gross imo but possible...

This article has links to the two affidavits in it - the Vergata and the Gilbert affidavits - if you want to review them. I have copied the section with the links. The affiant says in the affidavit that his name is known to her and Mr. Ray. She then says, "I call him RW."

"The witness account of Vergata at Heuermann’s home is notable for the fact that it would be the first alleged connection between the suspect and one of four Gilgo-area victims whose remains were dismembered and scattered in Manorville, Hempstead Lake State Park and — in Vergata’s case — near Davis Park on Fire Island. Vergata’s death in 1996 also makes her case the one unsolved longest of the Ocean Parkway victims. The victims Heuermann was charged with killing were found intact and had been murdered between 2007 and 2010.
In the affidavit, a 54-year-old woman whose name was not released said she and her then-boyfriend — a New York City narcotics detective — went to Heuermann’s house after finding an open invitation to go there on the wall of Trapeze, a swingers club in Manhattan where couples share partners with one another. On their way to Long Island, the witness said her boyfriend picked up a woman she recognized as Vergata, the witness wrote in the affidavit, after authorities announced in August that they had identified the victim after two decades. Ray said the woman cried when she saw Vergata’s face in the news because the witness told the attorney that she was uneasy with how the victim was allegedly left at the suspect’s house.
“Hey shouldn’t we be taking her, something’s wrong here,” the witness told her boyfriend as she said they left Heuermann’s house, leaving behind Vergata, who ran out of the home naked, according to Ray. The boyfriend reportedly told the witness, “Don’t worry, they’re just playing a game. Leave it.”
That incident was alleged to have occurred on or around Valentine’s Day in 1996, which is when Vergata’s family said they last heard from the victim. Although the affidavit allegedly places Vergata in Heuermann’s home, the witness does not say that she saw the suspect kill the victim.
In the other affidavit, the taxi driver wrote that she once was called to pick up a woman from the Sayville Motor Lodge, a motel whose owners were charged last year with sex trafficking — and that she believes it was Gilbert who she drove to the Ronkonkoma Long Island Rail Road station after a date with Heuermann went bad in the fall of 2009. The witness recalled that Gilbert said the man told her he was paying her $1,000, but when she looked in the envelope, it was full of pieces of paper, so she locked herself in the bathroom and called a cab, according to the statement. When the cabbie arrived, a large man emerged and covered his face as he fled, the statement added.

Several days or weeks later, the cabbie said she was called to pick a man up from a location near exit 59 on the Long Island Expressway, but when she arrived, he changed his destination and said “he wanted to take her on a long trip into the woods,” but when she refused he pulled out a handgun and threatened to kill her, Ray told reporters. She recognized the man as the same person she saw at the Sayville motel, the witness told Ray.
“I already want to kill you, just give me a reason,” Ray said the witness recalled Heuermann telling her before her dispatcher chimed in that he could see and hear the threats, scaring the suspect off. The attorney added that the cabbie reported the incident to police, but nothing came of it, which is why she turned to Ray when she saw Heuermann’s face in the news and realized who he was.
The other two witnesses Ray said he heard from have not signed affidavits, but one alleged that she believes a man fitting Heuermann’s description pointed a gun at her in Queens. The other alleged that Heuermann sometimes hired more than one sex worker at a time, even while his wife was home, and that his wife accused them of stealing an iron. Heuermann’s attorney could not immediately be reached for comment on the information Ray shared."
Bringing forward the affidavit about Vergata. The mention of the cop losing his belt is on page 3 of the affidavit.

Here is a more recent article that also mentions the name of the belt owner.

Cop who bungled Gilgo Beach investigation was a cross dresser Cop who bungled Gilgo Beach investigation was a cross dresser

"Burke had a longstanding relationship with at least two sex workers, according to Ray. He met Lowrita Rickenbacker while patrolling the infamous Albany Ave in Wyandanch. The other was Heather Malone, who ran a prostitution ring out of her hair salon in St. James, going back to the early 1990s.

DailyMail.com has attempted to contact both Rickenbacker and Malone.

Rickenbacker had a rap sheet totaling 42 felonies and misdemeanors. Ray represented her on an assault charge in exchange for information about Burke. She told him that the pair would often have trysts at his home in Ronkonkoma, smoke crack together and he'd indulge in his fetish for cross dressing.

An anonymous source also told DailyMail.com that Rickenbacker became pregnant during one of these trysts, and they now have an adult child together.

Burke's other lover, Malone, would often accompany Burke on work events.

Ray first learned about Malone when he met Guy Malone, the jilted spouse. It was years later, after the couple had gone through a contentious divorce. Guy had accused his ex of adultery.

Ryan said Heather Malone would carry a beeper around so the pair could communicate. Those calls were eventually traced back to Burke. It is unclear if the pair are still in touch, but Ray told DailyMail.com that she was never charged for any wrongdoing.

Ray alleged that on two occasions Burke was seen dressed in women's clothing - specifically women's under garments during a sex romp at a hotel in Wading River with a sex worker from Oregon. He was spotted again in women's clothing when a private investigator that Ray works with saw him driving in his car. When he got wind that the investigator was trailing him he reportedly hit the gas.

'Here is the chief of police ... Just before he becomes the chief of police, living with one woman who has a beeper that is running a prostitution ring and goes with another woman to his home in Ronkonkoma and cross-dressing as a woman and smoking crack with a sex worker girlfriend,' Ray said.

'And this was done several times. That's the head of the police department of this great county.'

Okay, I don't know if I am tired or WTH but I read this entire article and saw nothing about the belt either. I feel I am losing my mind.

It did make me mad on Shannon's behalf where Ray said once he became chief one of the first thing she did was to shut down the investigation re Shannon, finding her, etc. WHY are police even today so resistant to looking at her case further? One wouldn't think it would be in support of Burke at this point... It's downright weird and even the retired LE and almost all of them accept the findings and I don't understand that at all. At BEST, her cause is undetermined imo...

It's amazing that a "man" like Burke felt himself so untouchable when he was quite the freak but I guess those in high power with connected buddies these weird lifestyles maybe aren't so unusual with but most of them know to hide them as the public doesn't necessarily find such normal and he clearly wanted to hide such when beating up Loeb over taking his porn, etc...I've often wondered the reason for that... Was he just grabbing something from a car he hoped to find of value or was he put up to it...

Bringing forward the affidavit about Vergata. The mention of the cop losing his belt is on page 3 of the affidavit.

I just read all this in our link andd noting about the belt, don't see it now either. As for the affidavits, going to have to wait to look at them with fresher, less tired eyes.

Burke is something else, NO DOUBT. Imo quite the freak, always horny as the one article said people around him claimed. And so is CB from all accounts, his searches and his likely variety of victims (like if he is responsible for Peaches, the baby, the Asian male)...

Yes I think a buried dog would still have hairs on it but they could also get DNA from the skeleton presumably too.

Most dog owners wash dog beds now and then. I used to when my dogs were still alive.

The belt is mentioned in the first link I posted as belonging to the woman running the prostitution ring and that Burke got the belt from her. Her initials are HM and it is a designer belt, the article said. I don't want to put her name in a post but the full name has been stated in full in both articles now and I copy pasted the quote too.

The Ray affidavit you can read again as I brought forward the link in the post above. You will see on page 3 where he goes back to find his belt.

ETA I looked again for the belt info in the article and couldn't find it myself either and thought I was going out of my mind LOL. So I checked in my history and realised I read part of the belt info from Reddit, not from the article. Sorry about mixing that up but here is the source Reddit link that states what I said.

Have to run now till later.

I'm not so sure, don't most skeletons end up just bones?

And they wouldn't need the dog's body IF the bed resulted in hair from it.

Yeah I know most wash them from time to time but people also just replace them from time to time. I not long ago bought two new cat beds for instance. Nothing was wrong with my old ones to speak of other than they had a lot of hair on them despite washing as such often does. We had some nice furry comfy new ones at work and so I threw the two I had out and got two new ones. It is difficult to wash the hair out of furry ones so it depends on the bed. When we had a dog, she had more of a cloth covered one and we vaccced that all of the time and the cover could be removed and washed and we did that too all of the time but over time, that too, one just knew when it was time to replace it.

I guess it really doesn't matter other than IS this a bed the dog hair they are looking to match ever was on... If indeed that is what they have or are doing... It would seem likely as what other reason to take a dog bed.. It would seem to indicate they don't necessarily have the dog's body unless looking to confirm it more than one way. Also if it was THIS dog, they could take an actual hair with a warrant... I'd think.

So my guess would be it would be a prior dog and an old bed or they hope for such...
