Maya “May” Millete, 39, was last seen Thursday evening in her Chula Vista home near the San Miguel Ranch area, according to her loved ones. Family and friends said her car is still at her home and her phone has been going to voicemail since her disappearance.

Hospitals, jails and morgues have been contacted by the woman’s kin, but they said she has not been found at any of those locations.

Maya and Larry Millete are high school sweethearts married for 21 years with three children — ages 4, 9, and 11.

Maya has been missing from her Chula Vista home since last week. Millete says they had argued the night before.

"We had problems this year, up and downs," Millete told ABC 10News.

He said his wife has left before for the night to blow off steam, but he became worried when she didn't show up for their daughter's birthday on Sunday.

"If she didn't have her car, a friend would have to pick her up. That's the only reason I was like, 'maybe she's wine tasting or hiking with a friend,'" says Millete.

Maya works as a defense contractor at Naval Base San Diego and didn't show up for work on Monday.

"I called her boss, she didn't even log in. And that's the other alarming part, because work for her is like a party ... that's her outlet," Millete says.

Millete says he will continue to search, anxiously waiting.

In the two weeks since the last update, investigators have interviewed one more person, bringing the total number of interviews to 71, including family members, friends, neighbors and witnesses. Two more search warrants also were written — upping the cumulative total to 54 — and police say they’ve received five more tips related to Millete’s disappearance.

“These tips have come from the local community and from around the country,” Chula Vista police Lt. Dan Peak wrote in the emailed update. “Most recent tips continue to include possible sightings of May in different areas of the country.”

“Investigators continue to review multiple items of evidence and are going over thousands of pages of data in the hopes of finding May,” Peak wrote in Wednesday’s update.

CVPD Provide Update Into Probe of May ‘Maya' Millete Disappearance

Investigators looking into the disappearance of May "Maya" Millete, the missing Chula Vista mother of three, conducted two new interviews during the past two weeks, according to Chula Vista police.

The pipeline of tips on the case appears to be dwindling -- just three new ones shared with CVPD since July 28 were worthy of investigation, officials announced Wednesday in the department's bi-weekly update on the investigation. Law enforcement said that most "recent tips continue to include possible sightings of May in different areas of the country."

NBC 7 reached out to Chula Vista police on Wednesday for a comment on the pace of the investigation and was told by Lt. Frank Giaime that the "investigation is continuing, and we are not discussing the specifics of the investigation. "

Court records offer clues in search for Maya Millete

The search continues for missing mother, Maya Millete.

It's been more than seven and a half months since Maya went missing from her home on Paseo Los Gatos, which she shared with her husband and three children.

Video posted on Facebook showed four-wheel-drive vehicles searching last weekend in the desert.

“It was more like a search and a scout of the area, and we do plan to go back again in the next few weeks or so,” said Maricris Drouaillet, Maya’s sister.

The last three CVPD updates were boilerplate copies with just the numbers updated tallying search warrants, tips and interviews.

“They're doing their best. That's all we could hope for,” said the Maricris. “They do a lot of meetings together with the DA's office and also the FBI. They do a lot of behind-the-scenes investigation.”

Meanwhile, Maricris's parents, Pablito and Noemi Tabalanza, continue their battle in Chula Vista family court seeking court-ordered visitation with Maya's children.

There still is no indication from the online case docket that Maya’s husband, Larry Millete, has been served paperwork in the case.

One recent filing in the case may offer clues, however, as to possible search locations for the missing mom.

The filing lists nine photographs filed with the court taken during trips the family took in 2020, including the location of those trips.

Two of the trips were to Glamis, an area which already has been searched multiple times.

Another family trip to Lake Havasu is listed, taken over the 4th of July weekend in 2020.

Team Maya search volunteers will be meeting both Saturday and Sunday, August 28 and 29 at 7:30 a.m., near the gated entrance to Skydive San Diego to conduct searches off Otay Lakes Road.

Since the mother vanished, her side of the family has not been able to see the couple’s three children. The missing mother's parents, Pablito and Noemi Tabalanza, filed petition in May so they could see the kids.

Larry filed a response to their petition last week, obtained by local outlet KFMB-TV, claiming that the Tabalanzas "and their extended family have not played an integral part of our children’s lives since birth."

"This is a desperate attempt to persuade the court to grant visitation rights to May’s parents who is being used by Maricris and Richard Drouaillet to be able to harass and question our children regarding the disappearance of my wife and their mother," the filing states.

Police give update on Maya Millete search 8 months after her disappearance

Police shared an update Thursday on their efforts to locate missing mom of three Maya Millete.

This week marks eight months since Maya, also known as May, disappeared from her family’s home in the 2400 block of Paseo Los Gatos. Volunteer searchers continued to scour areas of the county Wednesday for any sign of the missing mom, and police say they remain as dedicated to finding her as they were on the day the case was opened.

Pisses me off.

*(for reference)

(a) On petition to the court by a grandparent of a minor child, the court may grant reasonable visitation rights to the grandparent if the court does both of the following:

(1) Finds that there is a preexisting relationship between the grandparent and the grandchild that has engendered a bond such that visitation is in the best interest of the child.

(2) Balances the interest of the child in having visitation with the grandparent against the right of the parents to exercise their parental authority.

So that’s why he’s pushing for that non-pre-existing relationship. I wonder how often they wanted to see the kids before she went missing? And he wouldn’t have it? Controlling men tend to keep their spouses away from family. I don’t know if that was the case here, but I’m just wondering.

if they only saw the kids willingly a time or two a year, then that should be what they are entitled to. If they were only "allowed" to see them a time or two a year, then that should be remedied.

IMO, whether they saw them 2 times a year or 200, they should not be in Larry's custody. Whether the grandparents are the best place for them I can't say. Maybe it's other family. Maybe it's foster care. But it's not with him.

Gun violence restraining order extended against Larry Millete

A temporary gun violence restraining order (GVRO) filed against the husband of missing mother Maya Millete will remain in place for at least another three months.

Larry Millete is fighting in civil court to get his guns back, but on Tuesday morning his attorney agreed to continue the hearing until December 1.

Maya Millete's family fights for right to see her children

The parents of Maya Millete are not only trying to find their missing daughter, but also trying to see their grandchildren.

On Wednesday, in San Diego Family Court, the Chula Vista woman’s side of the family is taking steps to gain visitation rights for Maya’s three children.

Maya’s sister, Maricris, has previously said they went from seeing the children every other weekend to not seeing them in months. Maricris said she has been very concerned that they have not been allowed to have any contact with Maya’s kids in those months.

Maya’s parents have asked to see the children every other weekend and to have virtual visits once a week.

New tips investigated in Maya Millete case

Investigators released an update Wednesday on their search for missing mom of three Maya Millete.

The Sept. 22 update, part of the Chula Vista Police Department’s twice monthly news releases on the case, provides few answers on where Maya could be.

Since their last update on Sept. 9, Chula Vista police have conducted six new interviews, written two more search warrants and reviewed at least three new tips about Maya’s possible whereabouts.

Search continues 9 months later for missing Chula Vista mother Maya Millete

It’s been an excruciating nine months for family members of missing Chula Vista mother, Maya Millete.

She disappeared on January 7, last seen at the Chula Vista home she shared with her three kids and husband.

“Nine months in the case, and it still feels like we’re at the beginning, unfortunately,” said Maricris Drouaillet.

On Sunday, the family and volunteers plan to search for Maya starting at 7:30 AM. They will meet at Corral Canyon Trail which is located at 13487 Camino Canada in El Cajon.

On Oct. 16 and 17 and Oct. 23 and 24, they plan to search more desert areas. They hope anyone who has off-roading gear will join in on those efforts. Those who would like to help search for Maya can click here.
