The parents of a Kentucky woman last seen 10 days ago suspect foul play in her disappearance.

Crystal Rogers, 35, a mother of five, was last seen by her live-in boyfriend, Brooks Houck, on July 3, according to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

Houck has said he had nothing to with Rogers’ disappearance. He has been extremely cooperative with investigators, police said, and he took a polygraph test.

A Kentucky police officer has been fired for allegedly tampering with an investigation regarding the missing girlfriend of his brother, who has just been named the only suspect in her disappearance.

Crystal Rogers, 35, has been missing since July 3. Her boyfriend, Brooks Houck, has claimed the last time he saw the mother of five was the night before, playing games on her phone.

The only clue in Rogers disappearance was her maroon Chevy Impala, which was found unlocked and with a flat tire on Bluegrass Parkway on Saturday.

Inside were her keys, purse and uncharged phone.

Tommy Ballard's murder remains unsolved, 6 years after hunting trip gone wrong

Tommy Ballard was shot and killed while hunting with his grandson November 19, 2016. News of his death stunned the Nelson County community, who had watched him lead the search for his missing daughter for more than a year.

"I never dreamed in a hundred years that something like this would happen to us," Tommy said after his daughter, Crystal Rogers, disappeared in 2015.

He and Angie Bishoff, a member of 'Team Crystal', would organize search parties for the missing Bardstown mother, spending hours researching and investigating leads of their own.

None of their searches panned out, but Tommy was convinced he was getting closer.

"He promised me and the kids...and I remember the kids saying, "Memaw, Papaw was gonna find our momma for us,'" Sherry said.

Tommy was shot once in the chest, a single bullet ending his life in front of his young grandson. Police originally called it a hunting accident, and Ballard said the reason was so police would not get sued if it was an accidental shooting.

She said she was furious with police originally.

"This is my husband, and this is a murder and you know it," Ballard said. "And you're saying it's a hunting accident? No, I'm not okay with that."

Kentucky State Police said they were investigating Tommy's death as a murder, but in the six years since he was shot and killed, police have shared no updates.

"We treat Tommy Ballard's case as a murder, and that's the way we investigate it," Scotty Sharp with KSP said. "You know, I'd like to think that every day we get up and we're working on all of these cases that we're one days closer. We're one step closer."

Now, the FBI confirms they are actively working leads and tips on Ballard's case. They are the 'lead' investigating agency on Crystal Rogers' case but have said they believe solving one case could solve others.

Seems like there’s been a little bit more activity on this case lately. I wonder if it’s due to a recent tip. I hope so!

‘A move in the right direction’: Sherry Ballard reacts to special prosecutor appointment to Nelson County cases

Crystal Roger’s mother, Sherry Ballard, said Shane Young’s appointment as the special prosecutor in three unsolved Nelson County cases is a move in the right direction.

Earlier this month, the Office of the Attorney General appointed Young as the special prosecutor to assist in the prosecution of potential criminal charges related to the deaths of Jason Ellis and Tommy Ballard, as well as the disappearance of Crystal Rogers.

It’s been almost eight years since Rogers disappeared, and a little over six years since her father, Tommy Ballard’s death.

WAVE News asked Ballard if a special prosecutor means they have someone to prosecute. She said she doesn’t have all the details but says Brooks Houck remains a suspect in her daughter’s case.

“If they’re hiring a prosecutor like this, it just tells me they’re taking this seriously and they’re looking at a person to prosecute,” Ballard said.

She said she wished this was something that would’ve happened seven years ago, back when everything first started. However, she said she can’t look back and has to move forward with what she has now.

“There will come a time where they sit down with me and go over everything,” Ballard said. “But until then I just have to rely on that they’re doing an excellent job. And I think they are.”

FBI releases statement on 8th anniversary of Crystal Rogers’ disappearance

With the eighth anniversary of Crystal Rogers’s disappearance on Monday, the FBI released a new statement on the case, and they say they’re not slowing it down.

“This July 3rd marks the eighth anniversary of the disappearance of Crystal Rogers. Over the last year, FBI Louisville has made significant progress in bringing this case to its rightful conclusion. Crystal’s family, and the Bardstown community, deserve justice. We continue to pursue every available lead until those responsible for Crystal’s disappearance are held accountable. We know that there are still people in the community who have not come forward with details of Crystal’s disappearance. It’s never too late. If you know something, we urge you to contact the FBI at 502-263-6000 or tips.fbi.gov.”

The indictment, which does not mention Rogers by name, says the crime was committed in Nelson County on July 3 and/or July 4, 2015, when Lawson “agreed to aid one or more persons in the planning or commission of the crime or an attempt or solicitation to commit the crime when he, and/or, a co-conspirator intentionally caused the death of another.”

Lawson is not charged with Rogers' murder, but prosecutors instead charged him with the lesser offense of conspiracy, meaning they believe he was involved in some fashion with whoever killed Rogers.

Which will hopefully put him away while the murder charges are still being investigated... Hopefully

Now it's officially official!

Crystal Rogers' former boyfriend, who has long been considered a main suspect in her 2015 disappearance, has been arrested for murder.

The FBI in Louisville said Brooks Houck, 41, of Bardstown, has been arrested on charges connected to the Rogers investigation. The indictment says he's charged with both murder and tampering with physical evidence.
