Got my Masters degree from here. :(

Killer who stabbed 4 Idaho students to death still at large

The killer — or killers — who stabbed four University of Idaho students to death remained at large Tuesday, prompting many students to leave the campus in the idyllic small town despite police assurances that there was no imminent risk to the community.

So many students had left the scenic tree-lined campus in Moscow, Idaho, by Tuesday that university officials said a candlelight vigil scheduled for the next day would instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.

The students, all close friends, were found dead in an off-campus rental home around noon on Sunday, and officials said they likely were killed several hours earlier. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

Has anyone else wondered if he was on the spectrum? Not that it excuses the crime if he is found to be guilty. His social awkwardness stands out from my perspective. The survey could be simply a red herring and has been sensationalized.

Also, BK had been in WA for a a few months before this, correct?

While opinions are a dime a dozen on this case I'm trying to understand the actual facts rather than 'sources' in MSM. If there was enough evidence for an AW perhaps there will be more information that gets released by the court.
It's crossed my mind. But his behavior could also be explained by psychopathy. Not understanding emotions and the normal human experience. IMO.

Yes. Not sure exactly when he moved there but he graduated from Pennsylvania in May and started school at WSU in August. So presumably somewhere around 3-5 months.

I'm absolutely certain we'll be seeing more information and facts in the probable cause document soon.

These are still rumor, as far as I'm concerned. May be confirmed in the affidavit but I'm not assuming anything until I see it.

His sister lives in New Jersey.
That was all in an article I read today. I looked at it. It seemed legitimate. I guess not. I don't usually believe in just any posted news. It got by me. CRAP! I sure don't want to start rumors or spread any. That's the big problem with this case. I apologize.

Good point on Psychopathy. They certainly will give him the full psychiatric work up. Psychopathic traits don't always scream out. There are always at least subtle signs going back to childhood normally. Lack of empathy is a big one.

Just FYI, my DS2 said you can track peeps locations on snapchat if their location is turned on, he said there is a snapmap which is very detailed. Similar with imessage. Kind of creepy.
Correct. It's a little map. If you're friends on Snapchat you can see where your other friends are. Easy to turn off. But I imagine it's pretty popular to have turned on for college kids trying to find their friends when out on the town.

he said if they are in a car it will say what road they are on. If on the highway, it will say what the closest exit is.

but was he actually "stalking" or part of their group, whether closely or loosely? Was he possibly inserting himself in their lives and analyzing the situation? Were they (or one of them) being nice and letting the "weird" guy hang around, feeling sorry for him? They very possibly could have been making it easy for him to stalk them without even realizing it.
Kaylee's family has publicly stated that Kaylee " was a web sleuth" apparently interested in true crime. They did not specify what sites she was on. I would bet their paths crossed online in crime forums, as he was a criminology major.

It makes me wonder what he was up to in PA before he moved to WA.

I think BK moved to WA in August. Maybe July? It just doesn't make sense he would stalk Maddie, Xana, Ethan, and Kaylee but not the other 2 roommates. At least to me.

I heard, but this has NOT been verified, that the Elantra is a later model than what they were looking for. IF that's true, there's probably a tracking device in the car as well.

The car is apparently a 2015 model.
The 2015 Hyundai Elantra did indeed come with GPS, but only as part of the upgraded infotainment package. This package added A7 inch touch screen to the center dash, which includes bluetooth functionality as well as navigation and GPS capabilities. Unfortunately, this was not offered as standard equipment at any trim level; it needed be added when the vehicle was purchased new.

Does the 2015 Hyundai Elantra have GPS?

Like everything else is this case, "maybe it does and maybe it doesn't".
