Got my Masters degree from here. :(

Killer who stabbed 4 Idaho students to death still at large

The killer — or killers — who stabbed four University of Idaho students to death remained at large Tuesday, prompting many students to leave the campus in the idyllic small town despite police assurances that there was no imminent risk to the community.

So many students had left the scenic tree-lined campus in Moscow, Idaho, by Tuesday that university officials said a candlelight vigil scheduled for the next day would instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.

The students, all close friends, were found dead in an off-campus rental home around noon on Sunday, and officials said they likely were killed several hours earlier. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

Just out of curiosity... How long does everyone think they've had their eyes on BK? We'll find out eventually. I'm not trying to do anything other than see where your minds are. I'm just wondering what people are thinking.

We know it's been at least a week, since they followed him across the country on his drive "home" to PA. I've seen some say they think his name came up while looking for the Elantra. Others have said they think his name came up well before that (maybe cell pings, etc.) and they were looking to see what he did when they released the Elantra info. Others have said they think it's been since the first few days or weeks of the investigation - maybe a friend gave his name or he left something behind (whether purposely or accidentally).

Thoughts?
I'm also very curious to know if/when and how his name first came up in the investigation!
As I recall the stat, the perp's name is often found in police reports from the first week of an investigation.

Don't Fitbit watches also track people? I vaguely remember a murder case being solved within the last several years because a suspect's Fitbit watch proved that the alibi she gave LE was completely fake. The watch had apparently measured or recorded where, when, and what she was actually doing (killing someone) while wearing the watch.
If it has GPS monitoring, it can. Most don't, but some high end models can and not only "fitbit". Apple Watch and other devices can also.

I think about a week or so. Whenever the genealogy information came back and then add a couple of days for the execution of the arrest warrant.

Public defender for Moscow murder suspect calls for psych evaluation

LaBar described Kohberger's demeanor shocked by the arrest, but calm on Sunday, with no desire to hurt himself, saying, "He is mentally aware of the situation, and I think he certainly mentally stable."

However, prison guards at Monroe County Correctional Facility spoke with NonStop Local News reporter Bradley Warren and described Kohberger spending most of his time in a ball on the floor facing the wall and speaking very little. LaBar has requested a psychiatric evaluation.

Following his extradition hearing, it could be up to 72 hours before Kohberger is back in Idaho. LaBar has been in contact with the Idaho Public Defense Commission to find a new attorney for Kohberger ahead of his arrival. LaBar stated Kohberger's defense would most likely be appointed by the Court.

"They're not hiring an attorney," he said of Kohberger's and his family. "Given the situation, given the charges, no attorneys have reached out to them, and they're not anticipating hiring an attorney."

Idaho LE had stated in November that samples were being tested in the lab on a " rush/high priority status."
I think he was on their radar at the very end of November/first few days of December and that the info released the first week of December about the car they were looking for was to place him in Moscow at the time of the murders.

Mentally aware. But he's not mentally stable. What?! Obviously not. But not insane.

Of note, Kootenai County is two counties north of Moscow (Latah County). It does have several of the largest cities in North Idaho, though. I wonder if it's any indication that his trial will be moved, or if that's just where the nearest available public defender was?
Good question. But I am sure as a stall tactic his attorney will ask for a change in venue. Eventhough this was blasted everyday nationwide.

That is true. And even when they are the perpetrator, LE has let them slip through their fingers when they could have been caught and/or stopped killing.

I'm hoping BK gets a fair trial and not convicted first by the court of public opinion. Since this arrest doesn't sit well with me I'll wait until the actual evidence is revealed. As far as outward appearance, he looks like anyone else. MSM likes to 'sell' stories not necessarily the facts so please keep that in mind.
