Got my Masters degree from here. :(

Killer who stabbed 4 Idaho students to death still at large

The killer — or killers — who stabbed four University of Idaho students to death remained at large Tuesday, prompting many students to leave the campus in the idyllic small town despite police assurances that there was no imminent risk to the community.

So many students had left the scenic tree-lined campus in Moscow, Idaho, by Tuesday that university officials said a candlelight vigil scheduled for the next day would instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.

The students, all close friends, were found dead in an off-campus rental home around noon on Sunday, and officials said they likely were killed several hours earlier. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

The essentials, from what I read...

*His vehicle matches the description of one seen in the immediate area of the crime scene at the times of the murders, and on cameras going to and from Moscow/Pullman.
*His cell phone was turned off during the time of the murders, but also pinging off towers before and after the murders that would indicate the same path of travel / not at home
*His phone pinged at the crime scene the next morning around 9am, and had been there at least a dozen times prior to the murders
*DNA from the knife sheath belongs to BK

We just read this at work. Everyone is interested!

Our first and foremost question is why the roommate didn't report the masked person until SEVEN hours later? Shock? Impaired due to alcohol? It just baffles us. Any thoughts?
Yes. She has to have been in shock and/or terrified beyond belief. To hear crying and loud noises and SEE a masked intruder? Maybe she was in denial. Some people's power of denial is beyond belief sometimes.
Maybe her phone wasn't in her room with her and she was too scared to leave? (Doubtful, but maybe)

I would guess a combination of shock, fear, alcohol or illicit drug use, maybe? (just guessing) I can't imagine the sheer panic she must have felt and denial is a powerful (and destructive) coping mechanism.

His DNA on the sheath is the most damning, IMO.

This guy was going for his PhD in Criminology and he left the sheath behind? That HAD to have been bothering him this whole time. And his car was in the area all those times? And he turns his phone OFF during the killing - which is a KNOWN red flag for someone involved in a murder.

Book smarts and no street smarts, thank goodness.

MOO that she was in extreme shock. If he walked past DM, did he see her also or was his target the other 3 women and he spared her? Did he not see her since he was probably in " make my exit now" mode?

Contrary to reports, the December 15th traffic stops conducted on the vehicle being driven by Bryan Kohberger in Indiana were not requested or directed by the FBI.

He sure gets pulled over a lot then.
Twice since moving to Pullman. And twice on his drive home.

Also he changed the vehicle registration five days after the murders.

In my state, your yearly car registration and license plate sticker expires in your birthday month on the last day of the month. In some states, it expires on the first day of the birthday month and there is no grace period.
Driver's licenses are good for 7 years with a clean driving record. Those over the age of 75 have licenses good for 2 years, not 7.
