Got my Masters degree from here. :(

Killer who stabbed 4 Idaho students to death still at large

The killer — or killers — who stabbed four University of Idaho students to death remained at large Tuesday, prompting many students to leave the campus in the idyllic small town despite police assurances that there was no imminent risk to the community.

So many students had left the scenic tree-lined campus in Moscow, Idaho, by Tuesday that university officials said a candlelight vigil scheduled for the next day would instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.

The students, all close friends, were found dead in an off-campus rental home around noon on Sunday, and officials said they likely were killed several hours earlier. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

Why all the bank records? Are they trying to find any accounts BK had that they don't know about so they can find the purchase of the knife? Tell you what, as a criminology major he may have used something he learned to be smart enough to purchase the knife with cash.
Plus, he could have easily also purchased it at a flea market, garage sale, etc where there are no records.

They're looking at all parties bank records, not just his.

I too was surprised somewhat at the amount of diving and looking for accounts they were doing with the victims with warrants, etc. In cases where an adult is missing and not known if they are dead, I know it can't as easily be done as if the person is alive, left by choice, etc. they have a right to their privacy. I'm guessing as these victims were clearly not alive that changes the ability to look into their lives when investigating and I think in the beginning at least they were looking for any and all movements, patterns, purchases, habits, etc. to find any strings they could follow or any possible scenario. At the same time they are looking for knife sales and at surveillance videos. And once they had even a hint on Brian Kohberger (and anyone else), they started looking for connections and where he was (or others) at the same time or may have been or encountered him (and anyone else they started out looking at).

Clearly they were very hard at work almost from the start it appears. As one would hope. And few leaks as to what they were doing.

Could house demolition jeopardize Bryan Kohberger trial?

  • Some of the University of Idaho victims’ family members are concerned about the demolition of the house where the killings took place before the trial.

They’re concerned that if the jury wanted to visit the crime scene, they’d no longer be able to do so.
NewsNation has obtained the University of Idaho’s letter to victims’ parents, inviting them to retrieve more belongings. 1122 King Road will be demolished after “remediation.”

“I first want to express my condolences to each of you for the tragic loss you have suffered. I greatly appreciate the positive manner in which you have interacted with the University in the aftermath of this tragedy,” the acting general counsel for the University of Idaho said in a statement to the victim’s families.

The homeowner gifted the house to the university with the intent that it be demolished.

“Before doing so, we will complete remediation within the house to address biohazards and chemical hazards that exist as a result of the crime and ensuing evidence,” the statement said. “Items not selected will then be properly disposed of. This will not apply to large bulky items such as sofas, beds. … If you have specific items you wish to be on the lookout for, regardless of size, please let me know. If we can locate and retain them for you we will.”

Once the house is demolished, a memorial and garden will be established, according to a February memo from the president of the university.

‘Danger to him is too great’: Accused Idaho Killer Bryan Kohberger Isolated from Other Inmates in His Own Cell with Cable TV

Accused Idaho killer Bryan Kohberger remains isolated away from other inmates at the Latah County Jail in Moscow for his own safety, an FBI agent said.

According to Newsweek, Kohberger, 26, is housed in a small jail that holds around 40 inmates. The only time he’s near the other inmates is if he chooses to attend public church services. Otherwise, he spends his time alone in his cell, where he’s allowed basic cable and his own TV, while other inmates have to share a television.

Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer told the outlet that Kohberger is separated from the others due to the high-profile murders he’s been accused of committing.

“They have to keep someone like Bryan Kohberger in solitary, away from the rest of the inmates, because of the notoriety of this case,” Coffindaffer said. “Of course, those inmates likely know what he’s accused of doing. The danger to him is too great to put him in the population with the rest of the inmates staying there.”

The danger is too great, well fine, but he gets perks the others don't as in his own TV instead of a shared one. How about none? I mean his notoriety is due to HIS murdering four people, sure isn't anything the State or anyone else did to HIM to give him something OTHER inmates do not get.

Flippin' ridiculous and outrageous.

It wasn't that long ago and last I knew in most counties that all there was was a community TV during the day time in the common area. I suspect some areas it is still that way. And that's all aside from his online access and other things. Psheesh just commit a bigger crime than most in county and you will get your own room, your own TV, your own cable...

Explain this to people. He77 can you imagine explaining that to a child...

And this is why I am also fine with life since death row inmates often live in semi luxury like this, for the most part. Let them worry about their own safety a bit...for the rest of their lives.

So death row has gotten that way too, wow.

Incarceration while I wouldn't necessarily say it should be torture, IS supposed to be punishment, not giving rewards.

I'm not so sure life in prison versus death though leaves them vulnerable to other prisoners necessarily. They would likely have a pretty high status (other than maybe those that killed children and in that case they are still often separated if at risk to be protected).

Death row is typically solitary confinement so definitely safer from other prisoners.

Well sure but I'm just saying I am not sure some of them would be at any major risk more than some others in gen pop. Some would likely have a respected or feared status as a major criminal. If their crimes involved children might be different but I'm not so sure depending on if solitary would be better. Totally disconnected from the world or anyone over a long period of time with no or little contact can be a terrible thing, however, nowadays they probably aren't that isolated... Probably have perks they never had. Isn't that the way of it all these days...

They get their own "goodies" where those in gen pop have to share with many - tv time, etc. That is the way it is here, anyway. The ONLY bad thing on death row seems to be isolation, which also affords them protection. Some inmates in gen pop are known to get in trouble just so they can go to solitary for the safety it affords. I don't think they get all the goodies that death row inmates have, but some seem to think the safety is worth it.

Well no surprise I guess that death row now gets goodies just like BK here getting his own TV etc. in solitary. They are in there due to doing "worse" than some others but get rewarded.

WHO runs this world these days?

NOT that I am surprised as it is the way of all any longer. Not surprised at all. We don't have death penalty here or in most surrounding states so not up on their housing. You have the death penalty?
