A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

At least NINE bodies have been discovered since September during the massive searches for Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie

Ok, just to get ahead of this mystery "meal kit" box, I have no idea what is in that box now, but it was originally a box from "Every Plate" meal kits. I have boxes just like it as I get those delivered occasionally. They have just repurposed a very sturdy box.

Some are obsessed with this. I think if I was the Laundries, I would have used a different box but I will say it is not hard to believe they were getting meal kits delivered as they could hardly easily go shop without an audience...

Now imagine how many people we could find if this much effort was put into EVERY missing person...

Any idea what's going on with Roberta and the compression sleeve?

Former homicide detective believes human remains found in Brian Laundrie hunt may not be intact

If the body found is that of Brian Laundrie, Ted Williams says the question is 'how did he die?

Former Washington, D.C, homicide detective Ted Williams joined "Your World" Wednesday to discuss Brian Laundrie's possessions and the human remains that were found in Florida's Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.

Williams said he did not believe the unidentified remains found were likely to be intact.

He said, "We … know that they brought out today … cadaver dogs. That leads me to believe that the body itself may not have been completely intact, and they were using cadaver dogs to find perhaps [additional] … body part.

WFLA is talking about the finding of the backpack and a notebook so I'm wondering how waterproof was the backpack (if it was underwater and not hanging in a tree). Was the notebook inside the backpack or did the FBI mean they were found separately. Is the notebook readable as it is or is it in such a condition that it will need to be dried and then subjected to paper professionals to extract the contents. So many questions.
When they reported originally that articles of Brian had been found, I figured it was his backpack. Just didn't expect there was also a notebook.

I kind of figured from the first mentions of partial remains this was the case.

Interesting that they wait until his remains are possibly located they now name him a person of interest in Gabby’s murder.

FBI names Brian Laundrie person of interest in murder of Gabby Petito during search update

TAMPA (WFLA) – The FBI announced Wednesday afternoon that Brian Laundrie is a person of interest in the murder of Gabby Petito.
The announcement was made following the discovery of partial human remains in an area of the Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County that had been underwater until recently.
“As you’re aware, the FBI and the North Port Police Department and our state and local law enforcement partners have been searching the area of the Carlton Reserve for Brian Laundrie, a person of interest in the murder of Gabby Petito,” FBI Tampa Division Special Agent in Charge Michael McPherson said.
Last month, the FBI issued an arrest warrant for Laundrie, who was previously named a person of interest in the homicide investigation of Petito.
Laundrie was reported missing by his family on Sept. 17, sparking a massive search. According to North Port police, family members said they last saw Laundrie on Sept. 13.

Maybe this paves the way for them to officially name him as Gabby's killer.

I'm thinking of the Vallow case where they've heavily included Alex Cox (deceased) in paperwork.

I would like to think that some or maybe all of Gabby's personal things that she left behind at the house were in that box along with some sort of a written expression of sympathy to her parents. I doubt it but still would like to think it.

IDK about the sleeve anymore than I know why she changed hats from the pink one to the aqua one between stops. And, if you notice in the "meal kit" link, in a pic of her getting out of the truck, she's holding her grey jacket and the pink hat and the way she's holding the hat it looks like she's giving the bird to the camera.
