Girl last seen in Manchester in October 2019; police seek tips from public

Manchester police are seeking tips from the public about the disappearance of a girl not seen in more than two years.

Harmony Montgomery, 7, was last seen in a home in Manchester in October 2019, when she was 5, police said.

Police said they first learned Harmony went missing earlier this week. Chief Allen Aldenberg did not specify who reported the girl missing but said his department has been in touch with multiple family members and will continue to speak with them.

Aldenberg said police are not searching for any adult or vehicle in connection with the case. Investigators are focusing on the whereabouts of Harmony.

"No time is a good time for a child to go missing," Aldenberg said. "I'm begging the community. I don't care if you saw this young girl a year ago and you think it's irrelevant. Call us."

Aldenberg said at a news conference Friday his detectives are working to confirm where Harmony is from and where she went to school before her disappearance.

Harmony is estimated to be approximately 4 feet tall and 50 pounds. Investigators said she has blonde hair, blue eyes and should be wearing glasses.

"We need help," Aldenberg said. "This remains a very active investigation."

If they can arrest Lori Vallow Daybell, they can arrest this guy for child abandonment, too.
Very true and great example. Hopefully they will in time, Lori wasn't arrested immediately either. There is always that fear though if they arrest, they will lawyer up and talk not at all... I imagine it is a difficult decision to make for LE in all cases.

Bittersweet. So they have evidence or knowledge of an assault of the girl by her father? Happy there is an arrest, sad she went through this at the hands of a parent and that they have not found her :(

I think that is the incident in oct 2019 where she was last seen, most likely. Why anything wasn't done about it then sure leads to so many more questions.

Per article
Manchester police said Tuesday they received a report this week that the child hasn't been seen since October of 2019, during a Manchester police call for service at a Manchester home.

Yes, even though the director of child services says he is standing behind the agency, he IS the director of the agency. There are clearly serious questions here that deserve a thorough looking into of the actions of the agency by those outside the agency in my opinion.

Adam Montgomery also faces a misdemeanor charge of interference with custody and two misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child — charges that pertain to Harmony Montgomery, investigators said.

Adam Montgomery was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, but he waived his arraignment.

"It's not our fault we didn't do our job"
Exactly. I'm still waiting for the agency in the Orson and Orrin West case to be looked at hard. I get the need for confidentiality/secrecy where records of minors are concerned, etc. totally but these agencies seem not be policed nor the public informed of any outcome the way we should be in some of these cases. In that case, the couple imo and that of many should NEVER have been able to adopt those boys nor as easily and quickly as they did.

Oh my God. And one can figure whatever they admit to was ten times as bad as what they say they did. Bashed around the house means had the bloody hell beat out of her by someone far stronger and probably repeatedly.

What is the interference with custody, etc.? I thought they gave him custody? Were they responding to the report in 2019 and he took off with her or something?

WHAT THE :censored:

This is hard to read

I am going to start skipping the details. I'll read them if in posts and otherwise hope posts will inform me if anything else is in the article about charges, custody, etc. I'm glad you said it was hard to read so I'm going to not do so. This case makes me sick and so does HE. Another in too many isn't it? It starts with a missing child and one hopes the child is found and then in a high percentage of them comes this kind of thing and what really happened. :(

I am GLAD there is an arrest and I hope they manage to KEEP him there.

In the redacted affidavit, Manchester police outline allegations of physical abuse, including reports that Harmony was seen with a black eye. Harmony was in the custody of her father after her mother lost custody of her in July 2018 because of substance abuse issues, police said.

The affidavit provides several details of the police search for Harmony, including an interview with Adam Montgomery's current wife, who said that the last time she saw the girl, her husband told her he was going to drive her to Lowell, Massachusetts, to turn her over to her mother.

She said that was in November or December 2019, and she hasn't seen the girl since.

Police said they found Adam Montgomery on Dec. 31 sleeping in a car with his new girlfriend in the area of Harvell Street in Manchester. Investigators said he told them that Harmony was fine and he'd seen her recently, but he later said that he hadn't seen her since Thanksgiving 2019, claiming that her mother picked her up in Manchester.

Documents also show both parents have struggled with substance misuse, which is why her mother lost custody in 2018. Harmony was briefly in foster care with a relative in Massachusetts.

Agencies are required by law to seek biological relatives for custody, which is how Harmony ended up in New Hampshire with her father.

Adam Montgomery allegedly told his brother that he left Harmony, who would have been 5 years old at the time, in charge of watching her infant brother while he was in the bathroom. Adam Montgomery allegedly said he found Harmony holding her hand over the baby's mouth to stop him from crying, and he responded by hitting her.

Adam Montgomery's wife told police she had seen Harmony with a black eye, and her husband told her it was caused by one of their other children hitting her with a toy.

His wife said she hadn't seen him since late October 2021 and last spoke with him in November. She said he was living in a sober house and then left the area to live in Maine with another woman.

Adam Montgomery's girlfriend told police that she was aware that he had children but he hadn't been in touch with any of them. She said he never talked about Harmony, and she had no idea where she was.
