Authorities search for Missouri doctor who has been missing more than a week

Authorities in a small Missouri town are searching for an emergency room physician a week-and-a-half after his mysterious disappearance.

Dr. John Forsyth, 49, was last heard from May 21. Police said he was reported missing when he failed to show up for work that day at Mercy Hospital in Cassville, a town of 3,100 residents deep in the Missouri Ozarks.

Forsyth’s black Infiniti was found in a remote area near an aquatic park in Cassville. The car was unlocked with his wallet, two phones and a laptop inside.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol, have joined in the search using people, dogs and drones. Forsyth’s family set up a Facebook page seeking information.

Richard Forsyth said his brother had been at the Cassville hospital for about 15 years. He described John Forsyth as a doting father who became engaged to his girlfriend just a couple of days before he disappeared.

Is that right? Well, I suppose I'd need to know whether he was known to leave his vehicles unlocked.
It ultimately doesn't matter to me, it's just that if it was his habit to lock-up, I wouldn't be shocked that he hadn't, I'd just find it to be an interesting circumstance.
It is very much the norm down there. Why would I say it was if it wasn't? Most of my family is down there. I could go down right now to any of their neighbors and walk right into their homes and take their cars if I wanted to. Most keep their keys to their cars in the ignition and unlocked. What we don't hear about is how many find their cars gone and homes with missing items because it doesn't make the news, not that it doesn't happen. We also don't hear about violent crime down there because when you can just take it by simply walking in, there is no violence needed to take it. It becomes non news. it's not that it doesn't happen. It happens often.

It appears to me he had some plan and one would think that would mean with someone else. What was he up to otherwise? An elaborate ruse to commit suicide some miles away with no knowledge of how he could have gotten there and no proof of suicide (that we know of)? It also isn't like he tried to make it look like murder if so as far as we know. He was simply found in water wasn't it? Miles away.
When you said "elaborate ruse", it brought to mind the kidnap story...
Anyway, I think it's the distance that has us the most baffled.

Well, somebody obviously wanted him found since it was right before a major holiday boating weekend. One would have to know he would be found by the weekend. Starting that Thursday, that area grows exponentially with lake traffic and it's a very major lake. We don't go to the lakes on the weekends if we can get by with it and definitely not on holiday weekends because of the traffic on the roads and on the water.

Yeah the distance is a big baffle lol so to speak.

ALL of it i baffling imo. I can't believe one thing more than another at this point or one person more than another (brother vs. John, etc,) I will say and most know that is rare for me, not to have a leaning or things I discount.

HOWEVER, I did have one earlier and it hasn't left me and that is the brother. He didn't sit right and he still doesn't. However, I found his more recent interview less odd which is part of what changed that for me BUT then I ask myself why? He set off every bell in me throughout and maybe he just figured how to come across more unalarming and
bit more real but as guessy says there is still just something about him and his ways still...

This one made no sense when he was missing and it makes even less knowing he is dead and where he was found.

I have nothing much to count, discount or otherwise. I lean towards the brother or a relationship and revolving around money and/or trouble, partnership, ownership, assets, heirs, life insurance, etc. I do not lean towards angry investor, drug bunch, etc. I think it is more personal and close to home but with making it look to be otherwise... In fact, like another mysterious kidnapping... That brings me back to the one who shared it to begin with...

I definitely have the feel he's hiding "something". I have no idea what that "something" is though. He could just be bursting at the seams trying to hold back info they have told him not to mention or more than that up to guilt. I just have no clue as to what that "something" is

Has it been published how long they think his body was in the water before it was found? I can't find it anywhere, but it could be me just not finding it. Juggling too many things at once this morning.

It's reported that his keys were in his vehicle, which convinces me that he abandoned it.

Or that's just what he did on a daily basis. I guarantee you, if you went to cassville, you would find many parked cars with the keys in the ignition and many of those still running if the person planned on coming immediately back as in a quick stop for smokes at a convenience store. At the parks, you would find many with keys right in the ignition, just not running. I'm telling you, this is more than common down there.

I am the exception down there because I lock everything. Not because of crime, but because we had kids in our neighborhood that were never taught to knock and they would just come on in. I put a stop to that by locking the door. Now it's habit. Locking my car became habit from where I worked for years and my car was out of sight all day with lots of people in and out of the parking lot and I didn't want to have to wonder about it. They laugh at me for locking up my stuff.

I'm not convinced, though it's a plausible scenario. There are a LOT of people who are abducted (by known or unknown people) and dump their cars with the keys in the vehicle.
But in this case, a security camera shows him getting out of his vehicle.

And got to Arkansas some how from there, so obviously something happened out of camera view.
Definitely. Something happened right off view and prearranged or accidentally. Could have happened later but I think that more unlikely. What I mean is he could have started walking (but why?) and something happened an hour or two later. I don't buy that. I think some plan or meeting was in place. He may not have known what was coming, may have been someone trusted, may have not been but one of the few things I lean towards is there was a plan/meeting/something. He had his sh*t in his car, walked a bit from it and from place parked and met up with someone off camera or got in another vehicle with someone, something on that order, whether willingly or at gun point, etc.

It IS interesting Richard tells of a former kidnapping and now his disappearance and DEATH seem to mimic one as well...

Ohhhhh. Yes, I read that somewhere. I’m sorry! I’m getting confused. Too many cases, too little time.
Boy do I know that feeling and it is added to too many issues in life to deal with and not enough time in the day nor energy to do it all :sigh:

I am convinced he parked there to meet somebody, but I am absolutely not convinced of who or why. I have quite a few theories, but none are any higher or lower than the other of probability.

I think it's the location that gives me the impression that he went there to hide his vehicle rather than to meet someone.

You wouldn't hide a vehicle there at a city park with a swimming pool and it's days away from Memorial Day weekend, especially close to the dumpster. That would be one of the last places to hide anything at that time.
