Police in South Florida are asking for the public's help to find the family of a young boy who was found wandering alone in a Broward County neighborhood.

Miramar police said the child, who appears to be 2 to 3 years old, was seen walking near SW 68 Ave and 18th Street on Sunday morning.

Investigators said officers spent hours canvassing the area and knocking on doors, but said no one recognized the toddler.

Officers are asking anyone who recognizes the boy or has any information on who his parents or guardians are to call Miramar police at 954-602-4000.

A toddler who was found wandering around a Florida neighborhood in a soiled diaper and without shoes over the weekend has still not been claimed by a parent or guardian, police said Monday morning.

Authorities said officers have been going door-to-door in a bid to locate someone who may know the toddler or his parents are.

She told the station that aside from his diaper being soiled, the toddler looked like he was in good health.

In an update Monday morning, police said: 'His family has NOT been located. Officers spent hours canvassing the area, knocking on doors, speaking w/ neighbors.

'No one recognizes the child,' police said.

Footage of the adorable toddler shows him interacting with police officers at the station and pushing around a chair.

The toddler is now in the custody of Child Protective Services as police continue their investigation.

It is especially sick that he was using her debit or credit card to purchase things to likely dispose of her.

That on its own is dumb. Cameras and a trace on a bank card??? What a stupid man.

I thought she had little to no money. He claimed to give her $3,000 for the truck. Unlikely. He also claimed he treated her and Kamdyn to two meals on the "beach" day... I don't even understand the beach day if his intent was to kill her... Or "take" her.

My best guess is to begin with like I thought earlier, he never forgave her for stealing from him and felt she owed him a vehicle as well... He tempts her down there somehow... I would almost guess there was no offer to buy the truck and perhaps he even thought she had "his" car he allegedly gifted her... Did he humor her for a day until he realized she was not going to provide the car and the truck had no title for him to take...? So hard to figure out since it is only his words and they are likely lies... Did he then get mad and decide to get rid of her and the truck was his to sell...? I mean there are some people who would maybe buy something cheap title be darned...

Or does anyone think he had a romantic/sexual interest in her? He claimed not but that means nothing... He felt she owed him and he gets nothing, not her, not his vehicle, not payment...?

I am sure the feds know more but it is still a tough one to figure without knowing what they know...

There has been part of me throughout that feels he was more of a pimp and possible drug dealer than what he claims to be...

I rarely think most cases are likely trafficking but in this case I do wonder if he "sold" her...

Thanks, I am planning to go back to rewatch it. It is always interesting to do that once one has more facts. When I have time I try to even watch some podcasts a second time, etc. with no new facts because one often catches something they did not the first time through.

I am very glad he is in custody. I doubt he will ever tell the the truth so I just hope they have enough info to find her.

In putting this together or trying to, I see no way Kamdyn was not present for whatever happened to his mother. My only hope is he was sleeping and I wouldn't count on it. UNLESS he did something to her after dropping Kamdyn off which I guess is a slight possibility....

Wow, I can't believe you did this. I started one just on paper and couldn't separate things. The only thing at all I can think of at the moment is that Ryan's phone also pinged around the correct time near the apartments.

In reading things today and another article today, Fort Lauderdale seems to be an area to him and was to her or while she was with him. I also from day one have felt before we even knew about Ryan that the apartment complex is not random. I am not accusing the woman that found Kam or anything, I just don't think it was random to Ryan. It might not be walkable for Kam to have just ended up there but it seems to be in the radius and close to where Ryan hung around.

We know LE knows a lot more. It is obvious there is more video. We don't see the Lexus leave Race Track and all sorts of things. Walmart video. We see Kam and Leila in Racetrack but not if anyone is with them, not how they got there and not how they left.

LE and the feds have a lot more than we know, video did not just stop in these areas with cameras. Jmo.

A self-proclaimed witch who has been charged with kidnapping after a 2-year-old boy was found alone in Miramar was transported Friday morning to the federal courthouse in Fort Lauderdale from the Broward County Mail Jail, where he faced a judge for the first time.

The boy’s mother, Leila Cavett, 21, is still missing and was last seen last month at a gas station in Hollywood.

The FBI has since shared surveillance video of Cavett at the RaceTrac, where they took pictures of two dumpsters Thursday, before hauling them onto two flatbed trucks.

The dumpsters were covered with tarps.



The search for Cavett continues.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the FBI’s Miami office at 1-800-CALL-FBI or to submit a tip via FBI.GOV/TIPS. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to her location.

New details emerged during a court appearance of the self-proclaimed witch who has been charged with kidnapping. Shannon Ryan appeared Friday in federal court in Fort Lauderdale, where he faced a judge for the first time in connection with the disappearance of 21-year-old mother, Leila Cavett.

After an hour-long hearing, Federal Magistrate Judge Lurana Snow ruled Shannon Ryan as an “incredible danger to the community” and a “flight risk.”

During the hearing, investigators from the FBI said they were able to link Ryan and his connection to missing mom Leila Cavett using surveillance cameras, cellphone towers and social media accounts.

Walmart and Race Trac cameras in Hollywood were key in following the actions of both Cavett and Ryan over a three-day period.

Tina Kirby has accepted that her missing daughter, Leila Cavett, is dead. Federal investigators told her as much. But it became painfully real when they asked her for a DNA sample.
Investigators needed Kirby’s DNA to analyze apparent blood found on shovels they discovered while investigating her daughter’s disappearance a month ago.

The distraught Alabama woman now sits in a South Florida hotel room desperately hoping a man who professes to be both a witch and god breaks his silence from his jail cell and directs the FBI to her daughter’s body. If given the chance, she’d beg the jailed man to tell her where Cavett is. “Tell me where my baby is! Please,” Kirby cried.

In a 51-minute video posted on YouTube, he is agitated. He rocks back and forth. He punctuates his words — words that tell a story about Cavett showing up on his doorstep in rural Alabama on January 2019, dirty with baby in tow.

He claims he and his then-apprentice cared for her and in return Cavett robbed them and left without a goodbye.
Without explanation, he said Cavett traveled to South Florida to be his new apprentice in late July. He claimed she was days late. He admitted spending the day with her when she arrived in South Florida but denies having anything to do with her disappearance.


Ryan was arrested Aug. 15.
Days later, the charge of lying to authorities was upgraded to kidnapping. Investigators believe Ryan’s Lexus was caught on surveillance video near the area where Kamdyn was found and there’s been no sign of Cavett on social media, or from any GPS associated with her phone since at least July 26.
Federal agents can place Cavett at a RaceTrac gas station in Hollywood twice on July 25. Her truck was found two days later at a neighboring Walmart. Agents secretively kept an eye on the truck and say Ryan came up to it and he had the keys.
Federal records say Ryan on July 26 attempted to sell the old white pickup Cavett drove down in. They also can place Ryan at a Walmart purchasing 39-gallon, extra-large garbage bags, two boxes of carpet odor eliminator and advanced-strength duct tape earlier.
On Aug. 15, a federal search warrant was executed on Ryan’s Lexus. Court records say agents

found a half-empty container of all-purpose cleaner with bleach, numerous black trash bags and a white powdery substance under the front seat.
An employee at the gas station told federal investigators Ryan was seen using the RaceTrac dumpster. Another employee remembered seeing children’s toys and women’s clothing inside the dumpster on July 26, records say.
The employee, according to court records, remembered seeing a distinctive pair of floral pants like those that Cavett was seen wearing on surveillance video that was released by the FBI. Law enforcement say they recovered surveillance video that puts Ryan at the dumpster.

The cellphone Ryan was using had been used to research when commercial garbage is picked up in Hollywood. Another search, also on July 26, asked, “Does bleach and alcohol make chloroform.” Chloroform tends to incapacitate people. Records say authorities found shovels with red droplets on them inside Cavett’s truck.

Just watched this. Going to have to watch it a few times I think... The one at the Race Track is that him coming up behind her right at the end... The ones where she does not have Kam make me wonder if she is trusting Ryan with him or left him in a vehicle. I figure he must be with someone, can't see her leaving him in a car alone/or truck...

Why does it seem in every case the videos or pictures if they could just be a hair closer or more detailed... anyhow, it looks like when she arrives in the truck that there is a load of something in the back, a blue something possibly tarp and as you see it pulling in, it almost looks like the tail gate maybe open to accommodate but it's hard to tell. What isn't hard to tell is whatever is in there does not appear to be in later pictures...

I guess we of course have to assume she and Kam are in the truck and this is her arrival. One can see him at his Lexus getting out as she pulls in and it looks like making some hand gestures... Interesting that they never show her parking at the Race Track just pulling in...

In looking at your great time line she is seen in the truck at 2:30 and not long later she is seen exiting the driver's side of the Lexus in a different spot in the lot. Where is the truck I wonder. Did they move it to Walmart, was she not comfortable parking it so he drove it and then she drove the Lexus back with him and Kam inside to Racetrack while she runs in before they head for Ft Lauderdale? Did the truck and the Lexus head for Fort Lauderdale or just one vehicle... I remember him talking like she and Kam did the beach while he was off exercising somewhere which always sounded odd...

In the 10:30 picture when she is in the dress with Kam, I cannot decide if someone is moving and coming out right behind her, or are they just paying at the counter and in either case, could it have been him... If he isn't with her, where is he? She seems to be away from him at this point, possibly, and within an hour or two he is googling about chloroform and garbage pickup... It is interesting LE never gives us a hint of whether the truck and Lexus nor him at this point are at the Race Track, how her and Kam got there, no video of them in the parking lot, etc. We know LE must have such pictures or video... For some reason, that is withheld... Why? These are the hours something clearly happened after this...

Clearly the last pic of the truck the window is open or broken, also note it is a terrible parking job he did...

I guess in saying all of this, I have a whole lot of nothing lol that tells absolutely nothing... Just observations...

Interesting. It's almost a crying shame some LE officer never had cause to pull Leila over on her trip down there, the vehicle would have probably come back with some red flags or at least registration and insurance were likely lacking...

So neither vehicle was up to snuff ownership wise and BOTH had Ohio plates we found earlier on... I hope LE is looking at the past here... We only have his word for it when the last time he saw Leila was before she came to Florida...

I find this almost too coincidental. I figured a relative gave her the truck and perhaps kept it in their name was my guess but it doesn't sound like that necessarily... So we have two vehicles, possibly stolen or at least not registered correctly and both with Ohio plates in the same case... It makes my nose itch a bit...

Yah, that was a really strange statement... I tend to lean towards her being killed in the truck but it is a toss up... I lean that way due to the broken window... Part of me also thinks she may have been killed elsewhere and they took a drive to smoke or something while Kam fell asleep... And we go from there...

I mean we have no way of knowing they were actually in their vehicles or at this area all night... If he truly tempted her down there and if he truly treated her to dinner, etc. (the dress could indicate that), would he tell her you and your kid are going to have to sleep in your vehicle or mine? So she is seen in Race Track in a nice pretty sedate nice dress, Kam still awake at like 10:30 and Kam still dressed, are we to assume they then go to their truck and go to sleep? Good luck with getting a two year old to go to sleep when awake in a non-moving vehicle at the drop of a hat, and we have seen quite a bit of evidence that he is an active and quite vocal child... So maybe he has a place for them to stay... Or they take a drive or a ride so Kam can fall asleep... However, he is googling so beats me, that seems to fit with being at Race Track... Doesn't mean though he did not have internet service on his phone without wifi, I guess we don't know... She could have been driving while he was googling about how to get rid of stuff in the dumpster and chloroform...

I can also see her being killed in her truck at Walmart...

I don't know if it would be standard to test (probably not) since they had no clue of who this child was but I would wonder if he had any chloroform or Benadryl or a hint of anything in his system...

One thing I did not say is that I noticed in the one article, prosecutors state that she was in touch with NO ONE else in the Florida area but him... This tells us they have info from her phone records... It also tells us she was not trying to connect with anyone else nor had any back up or male friends, etc. she was in touch with down there...

Of interest it also said en route on her trip she did send pictures to relatives... That was new... I did not take that to mean the pic at Walmart of Kam to the bio dad... Plus I believe it said to family in Alabama while en route from Georgia to Florida....

I would give anything to know the vehicle locations and movements and sightings of either Ryan, she or Kam from the time she was in the dress at Race Track and throughout from there in the coming day and days.... We KNOW there is more...

It is interesting little of any video is from Walmart... In fact was there any? Inside the store or out? Just the pic of the truck and statement it was found...

We have seen so many areas and angles though of Race Track, we know the cameras cover much there from Dumpsters, to pumps, to inside, to the doors, to the parking... So where is the rest of the one when she arrived in the dress, walked and entered and left... We only have part...

Arghh... Just thinking...

Not sure if anyone else is following this case, but it drives me to frustration. This is interesting in several respects. First, it fits things I have wondered from the start, second, you can't tell me they can't enhance or see this plate number on this car and third, if that does not tell them whose it is or who was probably in it, this is the 3rd vehicle now that has no clear owner or a wrong registration address, etc...
