A Chaffee County woman is missing after a neighbor said she went out for a bike ride Sunday and never returned, sparking a search involving more than 100 emergency personnel.

The Chaffee County Communications Center received a report on Sunday at 5:46 p.m. regarding a missing woman in the area of County Road 225 and West Highway 50.


Anybody who has information on Morphew’s whereabouts is asked to call the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office at 719-539-2596 or Chaffee County Crime Stoppers at 719-539-2599.

Barry Morphew pleaded guilty Thursday to forgery of a government-issued document for voting with his missing wife’s ballot in the 2020 election and received a one-year deferred sentence and community service.

Morphew will have to do 32 hours of community service and will be on supervised probation, according to the sentence. The charge he pleaded guilty to in Chaffee County District Court is a class 5 felony.

Two other charges – attempt to influence a public servant and election mail ballot offense – were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

And maybe it is known but I don['t know it. I heard back when conjecture it was something about the home or deed or some such if I recall but never knew it to be fact...
 
CODIS matches to three unsolved sexual assaults in two different states is intriguing to say the least!

While it's a partial profile, info is that it doesn't match the two "primary" suspects in one of those other cases and so my question is why are they suspected if the DNA excluded them? To me, unless it's believed there's actually a third as yet unknown person involved, the DNA results alone would/should eliminate both as suspects.

There is info out there that this means NOTHING but the defense managed to convince many and the media that it does mean something. There are LE big wigs that say there is NOT another person out there. I can't give more detail as it has been awhile but people from Lauren Scharf to Duty Ron I think say people and the press fell for this.... If I get a chance, i will go try to find it. All involved in following and reporting on this case for the most part will say, including people from LE, that this is a big "snow" job.
 
In fact it got so prominent and out there that there is some "serial rapist" or some such out there I felt I must have missed something and there was too. There ISN'T with regard to this case from what I understand.

Well, my point was that the value of that profile is that it excludes particular individuals, which in this case, I think is likely an insurmountable issue, that is, that not only does it exclude the accused, but is thus far, linked to 3 other unsolved cases.
I think investigators in 4 cities should be on the ball to clarify this circumstance and if not, then they should all be kicked to the curb.

I am going to have to find one of the many things that say otherwise and they are out there. The judge even fell for this. It is all smoke and mirrors. All of the main retired LE on YT say so. Seriously. I believe so does Lauren Scharf and others. The defense played this and got the media to fall for it as well. I eventually fell for it too even though I found it hard to believe as I am convinced BM is guilty but I didn't have the time to keep up and check all out and it took over like wildfire that there was SOMEONE else etc. and re this DNA and so forth.

You don't have to take my word for it and I don't recall the specifics but I can tell you that the experts know this for what it is.

The defense cries about publicity but then used the media and has many a time to paint their own picture and have done so in the courtroom as well. What does bother me more is why the prosecution didn't blow this open and show the judge it isn't what he thinks.

If I get a chance I will try to find one of the things I watched where they explain this and explain it well. I think one was Police Off the Cuff.

Barry apparently has a lot of work in Denver and so is going (moving?) there. Got community service on voter fraud and gets to pick his community service. She says a slap on the wrist. I agree.

My comment: Many think Suzanne is somewhere around Broomfield or on his way there from Salida to Denver and Broomfield area, maybe she is and he is moving to that neck of the woods. Or maybe he thinks his female Denver atty. has a thing for him. (Sarcasm). They were all kissy touchy outside court a bit back or at least he was to her in his creepy way and she didn't rebuff him in front of cameras in any way at all and I guess was okay with it. I guess it comes with the job defending such types but yuck. Well she does defend domestic abusers and such and i guess ya get some types when you do that or at least you must understand them, if not agree, when you defend such...? Just sayin' and wondering...

A Colorado man who was once facing murder charges tied to the disappearance of his wife is now looking to reclaim property that was seized by authorities.

Barry Morphew is scheduled to appear in court on October 25 for a hearing. According to court documents, a motion to return property was filed May 26. Barry had his criminal charges tied to the disappearance of Suzanne dismissed on April 18. According to the motion, the prosecution has been in possession of Barry’s property for more than two years and, “there is no link between the property to the location or circumstances of Mrs. Morphew’s disappearance.”


“We alleged in the motion the items should be returned to Barry as they are being unlawfully held for no legitimate purpose,” part of a statement from Morphew’s attorney Iris Eytan reads. “As the law recognizes, Barry is innocent and in this country we just don’t hold people’s property ad infinitum when there are no charges pending. As you recall, Ms. Stanley [the 11th Judicial District Attorney] dismissed the ‘no-body homicide’ because she suddenly believed (after two years) that a body was important in pursuing the charges against Barry. In April 2022, nine days before trial, Ms. Stanley represented they were about to get to Suzanne, but they were stymied by the 6 feet of snow that covered the ground. Of course, this was a false promise and the prosecution’s way to get out from under a trial that would have exonerated Barry.”
 
I want to put up the angry face at the sheer b.s. here. However the part about 6 feet of s*ow and knowing where her body is or probably is has not panned out yet and probably right about that. On the other hand just the language of the full of oneself attorney ticks me off. Ad infinitum? Really? Yeah, most know what it means. How aobut just saying "indefinitely" and joining the real world. Does she have a Latin test coming? Just irked over this case. BUT do find some humor in it and the newest stunt. Does Barry need these things, is he out of money and most defendants, would rather not go near a courtroom again if they can help it. Of course maybe the attorneys, Barry and daughters are missing that limelight... Maybe he needs the stuff as he hasn't paid Iris and Dru...

The alleged mistress of Barry Morphew has been arrested for trespassing after she visited Morphew’s former residence and removed a package from the front door, cops said.

Morphew himself is out on bond after being charged with the murder of his wife Suzanne, whose body has never been found.

His gal pal, 51-year-old Shoshona Darke, was busted for allegedly returning to the accused murderer’s home.

Police said they received a call from the current residents on Monday who reported they had seen a woman drive up their long driveway onto their property and retrieve a package, according to the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office.

“Investigators reviewed several different home security recordings and verified the information provided by the homeowner,” police said.

Police obtained a warrant and arrested Darke on Tuesday in the Maysville area without incident Tuesday. She was taken to the Chaffee County Detention Center and charged with criminal trespass.
