Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Posted this one the other day. A little more info here. How brutal, how tragic and how horrible for the families. That poor father... I hope his son keyed him on who did this... Sounds like he may have... They need to get these animals like SOON. If they can kill three people at the drop of a hat, the community certainly is not safe. Imo. Thinking about a thread on this one...?

Hmm. I guess it makes sense but one has to wonder if it was only him behind it. Pretty big stuff targeting a federal judge and family, over a case from some time back...? Anti-fem, mens' rights, the draft, NYC attorney... He killed their son and shot the husband...

Probably another too hot topic. I don't know what I think of this one, well I did at the time it occurred, but I will look more at it before forming an opinion. What is starting to really disturb is the bigger picture going on lately with all things.. We were I think used to the last several years of pitting Rep v Dem, they have black v. white, anything we were all used to most of us can name... Lib. vs conservative. The medium language or being in the middle has long since disappeared.... Now it is mask believers versus not. Corona (not going there as I am not trying to start anything here, just talking about the BIG picture of pitting people against each other or so it seems to me)... Now this... The way I remember this is they were in plain sight, they had people outside their home, they were licensed, they were on their own property. I don't even have a formed opinion and I am sure we could all argue it in various ways until the cows come home... Oh let's not forget men v. women and vice versa... ALL legitimate conversations... Yet there seems to be a pitting of one against another with beliefs as always... And it is quadrupling lately... More than... With any type of subject that can be come up with... No one can convince me much of it is the fact it is an election year... I shall stop there... Just saying, here is another...

I do all I can to stay away from politics, however, I don't always feel others do but OKAY lol. I simply and like usual did an overall statement of not knowing what I think and generally either side, all sides, etc. do not discuss and imo most politicians (all sides) pit one against another. Divide and conquer. So I am done and I am talking generally with it as I have attempted since day one re politics. I simply was sharing it and it is news. People can make of it as they will, I am not forcing any opinion, not sure what my own is. Not trying to make one single case a convo here either but wanted to remark generally about so many issues no matter which side a person is on... Which I also rarely do here on "current" cases...

Quite honestly if I am going to do politics, I used to do that plenty before crime forums and know where, what forums, etc. I would go to to do so, I do not need to do it here if I ever decide to again, I just have not wanted to be around it the past few years, justice and children and crime kind of took over my passions... Anywho... It is headline and I am sharing it and it was a "crime" charged.... Not a political headline from any side or I wouldn't have...

Over and out. All done :) Don't think I said much at all that favors anyone or anything... Methinks I know better :) Most of the time...
