Date for our diaries is October 16th for a pre trial hearing in this case. Next week is going to be busy with the Delphi trial commencing also.

Accused serial killer Rex Heuermann is expected to appear in court for a pre-trial hearing later this month.

Heuermann, 60, is charged with multiple counts of murder in the killings of six women from the 1990s to 2011. He was initially charged in the deaths of the "Gilgo Four," Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Lynn Costello. Additional murder charges were added for the killings of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla in June.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Heuermann is scheduled to appear in front of New York Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei on October 16. The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office previously told Newsweek that Mazzei "made it clear" that Heuermann must be present at every hearing "just in case."

A date for the trial has not been set yet. Heuermann is being held without bail in Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead.

At the last hearing in this case on July 30, prosecutors provided the defense with "voluminous" amounts of evidence including DNA records, data from electronic devices and notes from searches of his home. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said they have received thousands of tips.

"This is a case where obviously it captured the public's imagination. The public is continuing to provide tips, which is being evaluated," Tierney said.

Several other bodies were found near Gilgo Beach, including some that have yet to be identified. Last month, officials called upon the public to help identify one of those victims, currently known as "Asian Doe."

The body of the unidentified Asian person was found in 2011. The victim was a biological male, but they were wearing women's clothing. They were likely of Han Chinese descent.

"Unfortunately, South Asia is underrepresented in our genealogy databases, meaning there are not a lot of Asian profiles in the database," Tierney said at a press conference last month. "Therefore, investigative genetic genealogy, in this instance, is a challenge."

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, or via email or mobile app at Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted in an individual's native language and translators are available. A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to the identification of "Asian Doe."

"This person had a name. This person had family. This person had friends," Tierney said. "We're reaching out to anyone who might have known this individual to help us with that identification."

Officials have not named any suspects in the death yet.

It seems odd that they haven't linked him to any murders outside the state yet.

I'm happy to see a judge who has told CB that he WILL be attending every hearing. So many are letting defendants call the shots lately and not attending or refusing to.

I don't see where a $2,500 reward is going to do much to find the identity of the Asian Doe. Anyone who knew him would want to help one would think, particularly family. Just don't see who it would bring in. Guess though can't hurt anything.

Pretty exciting we can now say next week on Delphi trial!! Imminent for real!! I still am not counting on until we see it nor if it proceeds do I expect no issues during it... Shall see I guess.

I guess we just don't hear what, if anything, is progressing with them. They are separate jurisdictions after all. I have not specifically searched for news, have you?
And I don't think we would until they had enough, and that's a good point too, though, they wouldn't be in charge of cases in other states either.

Nope. I think it would be national news.
I don't. Not unless they feel they are ready and have enough. They haven't even announced he has anything to do with Peaches or Asian Doe either, they simply are looking for names on them. As as Tresir said, they are different states and jurisdictions and more too so others would be involved, or even leading.

I'm assuming they have DNA from CB.

For the 6 he has been charged with yes. And DNA from his wife and daughter too.

Peaches and Asian Doe need identifying first so they can work out when and where they disappeared.
Are you sure on that? I seem to recall the hairs were only on some and in some cases it was not his but hers. Can't recall exactly but assume they have at least a family hair on each connecting him, and in some cases his. Could be wrong though...

I am pretty sure the original four in burlap each had the hairs of at least one or more of them. The recent two i thought they had hair DNA also but they had to wait till technology caught up because they did not have the root. I may have remembered wrong though. Emu was asking a general question so it was not specific to one victim, therefore i was generalising too. If you have the exact detail you can post it to answer Emu more specifically, if you like.

ETA Costilla and Taylor also had hair DNA that matched with a female that lived in the house.

No, of course I don't, like I said I may be wrong, do think they had hairs of at least one on each and agree there, I'm just not sure all six had HIS hair. I know a few did.

Not criticizing either, you know that I am pretty sure you know me better than that by far, and I'm not sure but I also know emu can take that as fact. I do think all they have charged they have the link. Just not sure they have his DNA on each.

You are way more up on the details and even keeping victims and time frames straight than I am.

I do think a couple may have just been a wife hair but again, I'm not sure, and said I might be wrong on that. If I recall they found more of hers than his in all of it.

He is big on the DNA thing in every case, and is in Delphi as well, so was just asking.

I just finished almost all of Colby's interview of his mother. I have about six minutes left. Man, what a load... There aren't even words although I was going to head to that thread and try but I don't have the words... Taking a break from that, even though only six minutes left. Thought I'd get through maybe five but made it a lot further... And even though tired as heck, had the focus I needed I did not have the other times.

if you haven't watched that, it is a must watch imo for anyone who followed the case. Nate has come out with something after, I am sure from what Colby had, and I see Crime Talk/Scoitt had one out tonight. I have not watched either. I am still finishing the raw one with Colby.

I am struggling for the words of what I see with her... AT times, she is obvious and it does not fly, but she is GOOD at times in her b.s.... I don't need to go into here as not the thread, it belongs there. Not sure I will be able to tonight, finally am yawning. Or I should say this morning. it's one a.m.

I will add one more thing so I can refer to it tomorrow or tonight if I do get around to trying to say it in the Daybell thread. Another thought is she has had so much time to craft around the evidence that they have that she now is well aware of.... But all these things from her come at different times in what I feel she is doing... To SOME in this later half or more of it, she may seem delusional but I don't see that for a minute...

Again there are not words.

AS to LISK, it is not a big deal to me what is correct here, I just know others can say one said is DNA was on all six. I'm just not sure of that but as I said in the first post, I may well have that wrong.

I know they have charged none without what they feel is enough to connect him whether by family hairs, phone, more.

And DNA to me in many cases is not the be all and end all. But to some it can be.

I was just answering generically for simplicity's (and laziness') sake. Although not CB DNA specifically in all, it is CB associated DNA mostly (wife/daughter/woman he lived with) but specifically too in some instances too with his DNA on a belt and on a glove and also on a plastic drape sheet wrapping one victim IIRC. There is DNA linking him to all six, either his or a relative or household member. Slam dunk on all six is huge.

oh I agree on that and it is pretty much what I was saying. they don't charge until they have at least the association of family DNA. and they are all slam dunk. was not trying to pick, you know that, just that some may take "his" DNA on all six to be "his" DNA and wasn't sure that was the case.

that's why I also don't agree with emu necessarily that if they thought he was good for others that we'd know by now. that's not the way they've went about this. they wait for the hair or the connection, etc. and the results to see if they can say they have that. as it is they came out with the first charges ahead of what they wanted because they were worried it was going to be found out basically, trying to keep it all on the down low, grand jury, etc.

agree with you totally. no offense to him but emu is very DNA driven and so just clarifying and i'm not even sure they don't have his own something in all of them. I just know the hairs were on some, maybe not on others, etc. but there were family ones otherwise.

I actually forgot about the belt, glove, plastic as well.

Okay. So I think MOST know I am not the biggest Vinnie fan or produced TV fan but I never say never and he has both Asa\s attorney on (puke, seen enough of f him prior) and the childrens' attorney (they are not minors but whatever). Past time for me to go to bed not sure how far I will get but have watched some already and linking for others, mostly only because two attorneys for CB's family are no it so it isn't like it is just other talking heads.

I guess they are under no gag. At least as far as appearing no a show at all.

I doubt I will see all tonight but if anyone does, and has any take on it, I'd like to hear it. I don't expect, especially Macedonia, to have anything I want to hear, or won't scoff at. Not as famliar with the "kids' lawyer.

I also keep in mind everyone on here has been paid pretty handsomely off the deeds of dad and hub, Asa, the kids, and both lawyers. Isn't that just sweet. Such a world.

Anyhow that['s who is on it and no, I haven't had time to watch it all, and heading for bed. If I have a lick of common sense. Remains to be seen.

Hmmmm. It is both attorneys for his family members on... Whether it is Vinnie or not.
I watched it. There was nothing we didnt already know, in my opinion. He does do a useful recap in the use of the burner phones and how he used a different burner phone for each murder but was basically caught because each burner phone tracked closely with his regular phone and the burner phone was then discarded apparently. He used 7 burner phones, Vinnie said. Does that mean only 7 victims, I am wondering?

It did not cover the trolling calls to the victims' families using their own phones, however, or whether the victims' phones also tracked with his phone.

Will be interested in your take on it.

The family lawyer was explaining the house mess was caused by the two LE searches which left the property uninhabitable. From what the lawyer says, it sounds like all the guns were in the locked room and that is why the wife professes to know nothing about what went on in that room. He also said they were shell shocked by all the charges and intend to wait for the trial.

Vinnie does also briefly cover the swingers ad the couple had up at the Trapeze club and confirmed they had been married for 27 years.

I saw some of it but then went down for the count. May or may not manage to finish this morning, shall see.

I did see the part of the lawyer talking of the house mess, his family is just always the victims but victims that have now been handsomely paid, as have both attorneys. Disgusts me as does he if one can tell.

I saw the part about the guns and I think he claimed she had no idea how many and some were his father's and historical or some such.

That's probably about where I left off.

Didn't see the phone part or the Trapeze club and (was that the name of it, thought it was something else?). With regard to the swinging ad, what did her attorney have to say about that? I suppose he wasn't asked?

And did Vinnie say this is "allegedly" there was an ad, because I don't think we ever have had it confirmed to be true.

Did that come from the woman who claimed to be at their house or did John Ray get that from something else? Can't recall. I think herk but then all of her story was mostly that she was "pretty sure" it was them and their house where the ad would have been specifically with their name if you see what I'm saying?

I left the phones for last in this response. Well, he may not have always used burners or even a cell phone of his own. Do we know if had had one all of those years? We've discussed about the times most of us got our first cell phone. Do we know what victims they have the phone data for? Is it all of the ones charged or do we even know? I mean his MO clearly changed with some other things.

How does Vinnie know there were only seven phone? is there some filing that has this info?

You know one thought would be that he didn't use phones for some of the others and that may be why some have not been charged yet, they don't have that extra piece or tie to him... I mean I think he had them when he was doing the Craig's List thing but were some of them simply picked up off the street corner so to speak?? Maybe? Prostitutes are also known to frequent some hotels.

I just looked it up and Craig's List started in 1995. Now that also sure does not mean that CB started using it right away. I certainly probably never had heard of it right away. I'm also unsure of whether they had "personals' ads right from the start. Probably but not sure. I know they shut them down abruptly like in 2018 or some such. (It came up in my qhick search)

I mean he may have had another means, it wasn't unheard of to see personals ads in some newspapers, etc. but my point is he may not have had a phone or been using Craigslist in some years or bought burner phones for all of them and only started that at a certain point in time...?
