I saw a map and he owns 3 adjacent lots opposite his brother's property. Not sure if that is all he has.

I also read the Vegas property is a time share.
That all makes sense.

I knew Vegas was a time share.

With regard to SC I thought the place the brother and he own has been owned for some number of years but then there hare articles talking about SC property being purchased more recently and that would be the nearby lots. I think news should make it clear he wasn't new to the SC area in 2021 or whatever it was on the purchase of those lots but that the one property existed long before more recent times.

So that's pretty much what I thought but again, news should specify that imo not to confuse people that may think he never owned property in SC, etc. until recent years in the 2020s. And I thought he owned or he and the brother co-owned the property the brother is on.

CB wants his guns back allegedly so his wife and kids have money to live. First of all, tough sh*t. Second of all, use the GFM money. Don't know what it was last at but I know it hit around $50 and haven't looked or heard in a long time. Tell me with a likely paid off home, you can't survive on that for at least a year.

Makes me suspicious. Doesn't want them connecting a/the gun to something or someone? Why not sell a property instead, etc.?

Both guests here agree "fat chance" he will get them back at this point and rightly so.

Also, they are divorcing and she has an uncontested divorce, how nice. I guess you can't split assets or give them, like guns, if you don't have them. However, they released the home right? So again why can't he give her that, etc.?

Weren't a ton of these guns unregistered for that matter?

Of interest, one guest says he is suspected possibly of killing at least one victim in his home? Where does that come from??

He is my age. Did they not have a drop of money in bank accounts, a retirement account, etc.? I mean I don't so I get it but they didn't go through a divorce, etc. and they own properties and he owned his own firm, etc. Her son I'm sure would be getting disability and the daughter is an adult and no need to provide for her. Even IF it was needed, which I don't see how it can be with GFM and all, let her sell your prime Long Island real estate, that will keep them covered for some time. I think the City should then buy it and really have at it. Half serous I am.

He lives on Long Island and he has a business in Manhattan? And he has no assets at all? I would really love to know where all the money was going. To support the business?

It certainly didn't go to maintaining the home lol. We know they had expensive habits, her the comic or games or whatever conventions and collectibles, his guns, prostitutes, and who knows what else...

I think it notable it is asking for the guns when there is real estate. However if he is the typical serial killer type, he may be doing that to cause a stir and think a gun must be involved in one murder or alll, etc. OR he could be worried what they will find if they are allowed to keep them and run tests and more...

Yes, there are clearly assets although the didn't file or owed taxes the way it sounded BUT still could buy/own properties and pay rent on a Manhattan office. This woman has attorneys and more help than I've ever seen in such a position so it is total b.s. as far as I'm concerned. It also sounds like fat chance such would be returned considering what he is alleged of doing. Thee are the guns OF a serial killer. Alleged SK I should say.

?The man was not out of money right up to the day of his arrest to commute, pay office rent and go to work as normal. I also have to wonder if he wants this HUGE arsenal, like 300 or whatever the final figure was, sold so he can pay a private attorney or at least get one he wants... Saying it is for the wife... As far as I am concerned, she is still on his side and nothingi indicates otherwise.

The daughter i s beyond working age and can move or go anywhere and find a job. Son I am sure gets disability or Asa does for him. They have the GFM money and real estate. AND I guess her attorneys and the kids'separate attorneys must be doing this for free from their hearts (more likely publicity if free).

She is very good at the poor me thing even though perhaps she is truly devastated. Sorry though I'm not buying it. This woman was ready and rebounded immediately to lawyers etc. Unless those outside people like lawyers and others pushed her right into it but I don't think so.

I wouldn't necessarily think this but for the things that have went on, but there already is hair of hers and every move she has made and him now as well leads me more into believing she was not clueless to at least some of her husband's activities if not even passively condoning or being a part of...

I just can't watch her and listen to her attorneys who notably have shut up since firing back somewhat at the victims' attorney (of a couple of victims). And after their "poor Asa" press conference and threats of a lawsuit.

It may not be fair but I do not like her and I do not trust her. It is however all based on what we have seen from her and her camp. There may be a divorce action but there is no evidence she has left him and in fact there is the opposite.

I don't think they need the SK's gun arsenal to sell. I picture the conversation as you know they willl go for way more than their value because they may belong to a FAMOUS SERIAL KILLER, ME, CRYBABY SAYS wanting his fame and notoriety. Get it in the papers (they did actually here), would Ebay be best or...?

Can you imagine how much his company rent was where he had it? :thud: That had to eat up a LOT of his income. I'm not sure if he was successful enough to take afford that.
I saw a short question/answer thing like of reporters asking someone on the street who works in his building or some such what they thought of the big to do and take down of CB at this office building and the guy didn't say a lot, was like on the street interview, but said yeah, he only has an office or a room or two or whatever the owner rents to businesses in his building in Manhattan, and rented I am pretty sure. This guy worked for some place in the same building and didn't seem to really know much of CB's business and so forth so I am guessing it is a cheaper alternative to having a Manhattan business address etc. and it sure doesn't mean he owns even a small office building there, he is in one where there are others renting. I'm not saying that is still not likely expensive rent to what we would think but it isn't like he owns Manhattan office/real estate or a building, even a small one. Pretty sure he rents from someone who probably makes a nice income renting small offices to many smaller potato types that want a Manhattan address.

In writing that, i t just makes me think how he also also has a Long Island address and owns that residence but how that would sound to anyone, an office in Manhattan and a home in Long Island bu none of it means he is anyone or made of money... It sure would impress a sex worker, no offense to them. And others as well you hobknobbed with just saying that. Yet the home is ill maintained although the real estate is like worth a lot and he only owns it due to it having been in his family, NONE of these big things it would sound like to people if they didn't know are due to him having attained anything on his own and the office is worth nothing and the house is ill maintained, etc. But he'd sure sound on paper or on a date like a real somebody...

DNA from Rex Heuermann’s court-ordered buccal swab matched the DNA found from a discarded pizza box that authorities used as evidence before arresting the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer, prosecutors said during his Sept. 27 court appearance.

Police had initially pulled Heuermann’s DNA off of pizza crust that investigators saw him throw away in a trash can while they were tailing him near his office in Manhattan. That DNA had matched a hair on one of the victims found off Ocean Parkway in 2010, which was the final piece of evidence authorities needed to arrest the suspect.

“As everyone knows, there was an abandonment sample obtained from the defendent via the pizza box,” Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said. “The buccal swab of the defendant matches the DNA profile from the pizza box.”

The DNA from Heuermann’s swab has not yet been directly compared to the hair found on Megan Waterman’s body — but Tierney added that it will likely be consistent as well, given that the hair and the DNA from the discarded pizza were used to arrest Heuermann.

Michael Brown, Heuermann’s defense attorney, said this still does not mean that Heuermann’s DNA is the killer’s DNA.

Another report of his court appearance. This states the hair found on a victim matched the DNA from the pizza crust which also matched a sample taken from the subject. It also says his wife is fighting to have the guns returned to her. Why the heck would she want them back?

From the article -

"The DNA from the pizza crust also matched a hair found on one of the Gilgo Beach victims.
While in court, the judge granted a motion filed by prosecutors to have Heuermann's vast gun collection transferred to Nassau County.
Heuermann's over 200 guns were found while investigators searched his home following his arrest.

The judge granted the motion despite Heuermann's estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, 59, fighting to have the guns returned to her.We said that initially, our investigation centered around the Gilgo Four. We were prepared to bring charges out of three of the four victims.

"Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said that his office plans to investigate more deaths that may be connected.
"We are working on the fourth and now we have expanded our investigation to include other bodies that were recovered in that area. We will speak about that when and if we are prepared to bring charges," he said."

I first heard the wife was after the guns but then heard CB wanted her to have them to support the family and sell them, etc. Not sure if that is true as this says in court it was Asa. Very possible though both are on the same page as I believe they ARE on he same page. I can't say she was involved, I can't say she believes or does not believe his guilt but I do believe they both have interest in getting back or protecting any assets. And certainly IF both are willing to, may be working together in that respect. Personally though I think it goes beyond that--yes why does she want the GUNS of all things?

A serial killer and his wife trying to get his weapons back first and foremost...

The DNA part is interesting too just as it is interesting more of Asa's hair was found on victim's than CB's. You know we all hear and know of transfer DNA however wouldn't the perp transfer more if he was the only one killing and handling and disposing of the victim? Of course her hair is long but still...Isn't he the one bending, tying, using tape or burlap or whatever around limbs and more? Yet more of hers was found. And now she/they are trying to get his guns. Not asking for some, or half, or whatever.... GUNS back at the beginning and infancy of an investigation into an arrested likely serial killer. I wonder which one they are concerned about.... Half sarcasm...

To sell?

Where do you sell the guns that are unregistered/unlicensed? Can you throw them on Ebay and sell to someone in any state without issues? I doubt it. Do her attorneys want them/will take them in payment? And what guns is each state's laws are okay and on what plaftorm can she sell them? Or do you just sell them to some famed NY auction house and they auction them off and take all the responsibility of laws and do it like some celebrity artifact auction? What if you sell the wrong type of gun or any gun to someone in California? And then do you ship it or deliver it? We are talking GUNS. MANY unregistered.

Don'[t get me wrong, you can go to a flea market here and buy guns. And you can buy a gun in another state, depending on state and fly it home or ship it home if you do it all legit. ere are gun shows, sales, etc. But you register and such, name and all. I also don't think that's true in every state nor do I think it applies to any kind of gun in some...

Probably some famous auction house made an offer or someone who can profit and handle the ins and outs of state and federal laws offered. The sensational factor alone, oh my. To sell them off as items owned by a notorious serial killer (alleged) and Asa is drooling at the offer. I'd pay more for a moldy sandwich belonging to Elvis personally or the pan it was griilled in.

It's odd I am sorry. Again go for the real estate or that is already conveyed and that's not enough for her.

Again these are a SERIAL KILLER'S WEAPON Collection, allegedly, and an investigation just underway that will likely take years. It is a ridiculous request. It's either being done to create talk or there is a reason they want them that isn't money related because again, they have real estate.

Yes, you're right now I see that in the article.

The guns are also evidence. We don't know how the many victims were killed yet do we? Maybe she suspects or knows that and is why she really wants them back. Maybe they are antique guns. They could have been used in unsolved murders years ago, who knows.

Maybe she should get money by selling the rights of her story " Life with LISK".

I also think the victims relatives should be first in line for anything being sold, but it is way too early ATM.

I am reminded of all the jewellery and items belonging to victims that were found in the GSK house. His ex didn't get that IIRC.

She also wants the jewellery back to sell but that could be from victims. Also, what about compensation for the victims. The court could need to sell assets in the future.

"Ellerup's attorneys also requested that investigators release cash, clothing, and jewelry that were taken as part of the investigation into the Gilgo Beach murders.

The family wants to sell the guns and other items as they struggle with financial issues after Heuermann's arrest in July, News Nation reported."

Two links about serial killers who stole and hoarded victims belongings. In the UK case, the victim's relatives were asked to prove the items belonged to the victim.

Interesting. They are now looking at all the victims. From your article -

:Heuermann still remains charged with the murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello, and is considered a prime suspect in the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, the four women found dead in Gilgo Beach in December 2010.

But the investigation is continuing, according to Tierney, and has expanded.

“We initially said that our investigation is centered around the Gilgo Four,” he said. “We’re prepared to bring charges with regard three out of the four, and we’re working on the fourth. Now we have expanded our investigation to include other bodies that were recovered in that area. We’ll speak about that when and if we’re prepared to bring charges.”

The other remains found on either Gilgo Beach or other parts of Ocean Parkway include the partial remains of Jessica Taylor, Valerie Mack, Karen Vergata, and the still unidentified “Peaches,” her daughter, and a male victim known as Asian Male Doe.

Peaches’ partial remains had first been found at Hempstead Lake State Park in 1997 before more were found along Ocean Parkway on Jones Beach in 2011. Taylor and Mack’s partial remains had been initially found in 2000 and 2003, respectively, in Manorville before each of their skulls were found near Cedar Beach in 2011. Baby Doe and Asian Male were also found off Ocean Parkway in 2011.

Tierney did not directly confirm if all of those victims were being investigated as the work of Heuermann, but said “We’re investigating other instances where individuals were left on Gilgo.” "

YES to all you said here. Totally agree with all and could say more about all.

Victims and restitution should come FIRST.

Evidence or possible evidence comes FIRST.

They had CASH? Really? For what, to pay sex workers? Not a knock against sex workers but they don't take Visa do they? Or did he ever pay up and not kill any of them? I'd really like to know from some, even anonymously, if he was ever a client of theirs what his "thing" was, what they did, how he treated them, where he took them and if he paid. Was the wife ever present, was it their home? Etc.

She could be making up the cash who knows. Maybe it was a jar of change.

She can sell their wedding rings. Maybe he can get them to give her his. They are divorcing so they shouldn't have sentimental value any longer and I truly doubt they took hers off her finger.

She should count her lucky stars imo their home is back in her possession.

I don't like this woman and her behavior. I have tried to help it and I can't. She just keeps adding to it when I try.

The kids and her have separate attorneys! Easy guess the attorneys are in i for publicity and money and lawsuits or are we to believe she and the grown children gave retainers and are paying billable hours each month? Well, imo then their attorneys can front them some money from the promises they are likely making of the tons of money they will get for her on suing.

Everything she is doing has an ick factor. And it is questionable.

And yes, why really are the guns a focus? And fat chance. Why not the real estate? The focus seems to be on what LE took.

Also, has she went through the GFM money already???

I don’t think the wife is “with it.” In this case, it’s easier for me to believe she didn’t know what was going on because it seems to me like she’s in another world. Whatever the issue, she’s not a serial killer, so I’ll give her some slack with her poor choices.

Yeah I had 5 grand under the mattress which was taken in the search warrant.....

I came across this link yesterday that had a lot of info about all the victims. Not just the ones he is charged with, who were all strangled apparently and wrapped in burlap. ( you probably know all this but a lot is new to me. )

Link below plus extract of details.

The four deaths investigators believe Heuermann is connected to are those of the "Gilgo Four." The "Gilgo Four" were all petite sex workers in their 20s who advertised on Craigslist. All of their bodies were found wrapped in burlap near Gilgo Beach within a mile of each other.

Thirteen years after Gilbert disappeared, the Gilgo Beach murders case has garnered national attention once again. But this case has roots as far back as 27 years ago.

The first human remains connected to the Gilgo Beach murders are found.

April 20, 1996
A pair of severed legs wrapped in plastic are discovered on Fire Island. The woman is referred to as "Fire Island Jane Doe." Her remains are the first indication that something sinister is happening on Long Island.

November 2000
Partial remains of a woman are found in Manorville, Long Island. This woman is referred to as "Manorville Jane Doe" by investigators.

July 2003
Partial remains of a woman are found in Manorville in the same location remains were discovered three years prior.

Extra Time: Gilgo Beach murder investigation pushes forward

The first of the "Gilgo Four" disappears.

July 9, 2007
Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25, is seen alive for the last time. She was living in Connecticut and working as a sex worker. She would often travel to Manhattan to meet clients, as she was the week she went missing.

July 12, 2009
Melissa Barthelemy, 24, of the Bronx disappears. She worked as a sex worker. The night she disappeared, she told a friend she was visiting a client. After her disappearance, her family received several phone calls from her cell phone in New York City. They said on the other end of the taunting phone calls was the voice of a man.

May 1, 2010
Shannan Gilbert, 24, of Jersey City disappears. She disappeared after visiting the home of Joseph Brewer in Oak Beach. Detectives said that Brewer was not a suspect in the investigation. Gilbert called 911 before she disappeared.

June 6, 2010
Megan Waterman, 22, from Maine is seen alive for the last time at the Hotel Inn Express in Hauppauge, New York. She was a sex worker and had a three-year-old daughter.

September 2, 2010
Amber Lynn Costello, 27, disappears. She lived in West Babylon, New York. She was last seen leaving her residence to meet a client. At the time of her disappearance, she did not have a cell phone on her. Costello was never reported missing.

The first remains of the "Gilgo Four" are found.

December 11, 2010
As canine teams are searching for Shannan Gilbert, they discover the skeletonized remains of Melissa Barthelemy. (Her remains were not identified for another month.) She was wrapped in burlap in the thick brush on Gilgo Beach. The beach they found her on was covered in snow.

December 13, 2010
Investigators return to the area where they discovered the first body and find three more badly decomposed bodies wrapped in burlap. They were searching in punishing weather conditions late into the night. They said there were no obvious signs of trauma to the bodies and that at least two of the bodies belonged to women.

December 14, 2010
For the first time, authorities say the murders were potentially the work of a serial killer.

'Powerful moment': Suffolk County DA on arrest of Gilgo Beach murder suspect

The "Gilgo Four" are identified by investigators.

January 19, 2011
Investigators identify 22-year-old Megan Waterman as one of the bodies found on Gilgo Beach. She was the first of what would become known as the "Gilgo Four" to be identified.

January 24, 2011
Suffolk County Police identify the three other bodies found in December 2010 as Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Lynn Costello and Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

March 29, 2011
In another attempt to find Shannan Gilbert, a fifth body is found along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach and Oak Beach. The remains were recovered less than a mile from where the "Gilgo Four" were discovered.

March 31, 2011
Investigators are still unable to identify the fifth body, but they confirm the remains belong to a woman. They say the body does not belong to Gilbert.

13508712_071523-voicemail.jpg

Woman shares chilling voicemail left by Gilgo Beach murder suspect

Investigators continue to find more bodies, but the remains differ from those of the "Gilgo Four."

April 4, 2011
Police find three more victims in the area between Oak Beach and Gilgo Beach, bringing the total count of victims to eight. Investigators identify the victims as Jane Doe Number 6, a baby girl and an Asian man.

The baby was found wrapped in a blanket and between 18 and 24 months old when she died. Investigators say they are unsure if she was murdered. They believe the man was in his late teens or early 20s when he died. Although a cause of death was not revealed, police say he died a violent death. He was found wearing what investigators referred to as women's clothing.

April 11, 2011
For the first time, investigators expand their search into Nassau County, and a ninth and 10th victim are discovered. Their bodies were found on Ocean Parkway in Jones Beach, about five miles from where the "Gilgo Four" were found. Police say they have several people they consider as persons of interest, but no suspect has been named.

The ninth victim, Jane Doe Number 9, is discovered to be Fire Island Jane Doe, whose legs were found in 1996. Due to DNA testing, it is also believed that she was the mother of the unidentified baby found on Gilgo Beach. Fire Island Jane Doe/Jane Doe Number 9 is renamed "Peaches" because of a tattoo found on her body. Investigators say they believe mom and baby were killed at the same time.

May 9, 2011
Investigators say that the fifth and sixth bodies that were found were dismembered, unlike the "Gilgo Four." Only the head and hands of the women were found on Gilgo Beach. The rest of their bodies had been found 20 years earlier, 40 miles away, in Manorville.

One of the dismembered women, Jane Doe Number 5, is named as 20-year-old Jessica Taylor. Taylor disappeared in 2003. She was working as a sex worker in New York City. The other woman remains unidentified, but investigators believe their two cases are linked. The partial remains of Jane Doe Number 6 are connected to Manorville Jane Doe, whose torso was found in Manorville in 2000.

Investigators now say they believe they are looking for three, if not four, killers. One killer who they believe is responsible for the "Gilgo Four," one responsible for Jane Doe 5 and Jane Doe 6, and one or two separate killers responsible for the four other bodies found.

Investigators have found 10 bodies and identified five of them, but they are still searching for Gilbert.

November 29, 2011
Suffolk County Police say they believe all of the 10 victims found on and near Gilgo Beach may have been related to sex work, even though only five of the 10 were identified. They say it is possible that one killer is responsible for all of their deaths. Even though her disappearance sparked the investigation, investigators say they do not believe Gilbert's case is connected.

After a year and a half of searching, investigators find Shannan Gilbert.

December 11, 2011
Investigators find a cell phone, lip gloss, shoes and a pocketbook they say belonged to Shannan Gilbert on Gilgo Beach. They say do not believe her death is related to the 10 bodies they found in the area over the last several months.

December 13, 2011
Nineteen months after she vanished, Suffolk County Police find the skeletal remains of Shannan Gilbert on Gilgo Beach. Investigators believe her cause of death was accidental drowning.

December 10, 2015
After an ex-Suffolk County police chief is charged in an unrelated investigation and personnel changes are made within the department, the FBI officially joins the investigation into the Gilgo Beach murders. Their addition comes almost exactly five years after the first of the "Gilgo Four" was found.

July 23, 2016
