I definitely think someone on the PD was involved. Probably the dude who was in charge and had porn and sex toys in his car and beat up the guy who stole them. He also told the FBI to go away.
Involved in what part? Shannon's night or all of it?
It could be so simple as he just could not have anyone looking too hard at this, questioning sex workers, looking into that world, etc. as he was a well known part of it, user of such too. Was he both ways, I don't recall offhand? His recent arrest was for offering a sex act to a male. it is just as likely he just did not want the feds too near him, his lifestyle and his office for obvious reasons.
There seem to be different things here. Swingers are couples generally. No hint of that in Shannon's death unless her driver was the pair but no hint Brewer had a partner either. I had long thought (still leave it open) this may have been some party that night at Brewers, lots of men, prostitutes (or one prostitute), etc. And heard of cops involved, etc. in these parties. Now it seems that may have been the swinging thing, now that John Ray has shared more, and unsure if it was the Gilbert thing or not. BUT it would fit with how Vergata was got out to CB's home as well... She wasn't part of a couple/swingers, but they needed a fourth...
And we do have CB who is both doing the swinging thing with Asa AND using sex workers on their own as well. We do have cops in the swinging club and parties and THAT may be the long rumored cop part too.
It is the problem with corrupt cops/people in power, and the ones engaged in the very vices and illegal activities they arrest others for. That of itself would make him not want the feds around nor too much of an investigation.
Did Burke swing both ways? IF I recall, he did, but unsure right now, foggy on it. It seems CB did if the stories are to be believed. CB also had searches relating to children so it seems all went for him and maybe he same with Burke. Let's not forget that part. Maybe Burke wasn't so concerned about the adult stuff he had in his car and on his computer... Just wild guesses, what a rabbit hole...
There seems to be a really sick underbelly here and with some in power as well. Doctors, cops, police commissioners, architects... And use of sex workers at minimum, a Long Island thing and more. Again what a rabbit hole but then it is a huge area and population as well. But it cannot be ignored, all victims and even Gilbert were found dead... And that brings it back to a smaller thing and a likely connection...
