I think she was at Brewer's for 2 hours IIRC before she flipped out so I would think she was paid. Were any statements taken from Brewer or the witnesses whose houses she went to for help? I read she dialled 911 from behind Brewers sofa.
Well then where is the $$? Did Pak take it? Was it found with her other things or with her?

I don't know re statements, they were talked to of course I believe or at least they called in as we know. Such a joke of no investigation was done that I seriously doubt any of them were hauled downtown for formal interviews or statements. I think at some point Pak was questioned, I don't recall as to others and not even sure of that in early days. They seemed to take Pak and Brewer at their word which I find disgusting and we know Burke had no interest in this thing going anywhere anyhow. And then the decades long efforts to refuse to hand over the 911 tapes even when ORDERED to. Now I'd ask if it shows and says what they say and what some people in my opinion have ridiculously bought into with the efforts, then why the outright battle and refusal of a court order to release? Imo they knew what any logical person would hear and determine.

Of course we know John Ray has been able to depose and subpoena testimony etc. because of the civil case. He said that I believe it was Brewer's depos and testimony over the years do not match up with his story back then at least in a lot of key spots, etc. I am paraphrasing.

Not just Brewer either but Hacket too.

What to Know

 • The accused Gilgo Beach serial killer was in court Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing.
 • On Wednesday, Rex Heuermann’s lawyer said the case against his client is not strong. He says several others were suspects in the Gilgo Beach murders and that’s why Brown wants prosecutors to give him detectives’ notes about those other suspects including one he claims former Suffolk County district attorney Tim Sini once wanted to arrest.
 • Heuermann’s arrest came last July for the murders of three women whose remains were found along Ocean Parkway 13 years ago.
The accused Gilgo Beach serial killer was in court Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing -- that his estranged wife also attended.

Before the hearing, for a brief moment Asa Ellerup, suspect's Rex Heuermann's estranged wife, sat quietly in a car outside the Suffolk County Courthouse before navigating through a throng of cameras to go inside.

She watched from the gallery as Heuermann entered the courtroom. The accused serial killer seemed to turn toward he, but Ellerup offered no reaction.

"So if they went forward with what Mr. Sini wanted, somebody would have been in jail. His name is not Rex Heuermann," Brown said.

Even as Brown tried to cast doubt on the prosecution case, Suffolk District Attorney Raymond Tierney revealed a Gilgo grand jury should be finishing its work shortly. That’s an indication Heuermann could soon be charged with a fourth murder -- the killing of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

"We stand ready," Tierney said. "We look forward to trying the case."

The investigations into the other Gilgo Beach murders continue.

There is still no trial date set for Heuermann, although he will be back before a judge in February.

There are also depos from Shannan's mother and Hackett and his neighbors in Oak Beach that are out there somewhere.
I'd expect that there'd be one from Alex but I'm not aware that there is one.

This guy is NY LE and I only recently found him when he had on Harrison and then later he had Ray on. So far I like him. He doesn't have a huge number of followers yet which seems to indicate he's not been at YT long so it would explain why I never came across him until recently.

I watched this last night and found it interesting and I'd strongly recommend it as a must watch because for one reason NY just changed some law/laws re DNA, for the BETTER, imo. it also touched on some Rosario thing NY has that I do not like the sounds of. He also explained the difference in the two types of hair DNA but make NO mistake about it, this is no dry show full of scientific DNA stuff, it actually is a response to the hearing yesterday you mention here, how the defense attorney is blowing hot air (paraphrasing) and not to worry. He says who cares if Asa was there? While I disagree, I get his point LOL.

Finally he said maybe she is doing these things because of her rumored PEACOCK show where all the cameras are following her around of recent.

There is more but I'm just giving some of the nuggets to show it is a fast 30 minutes hitting on a lot of things.

I think all should hear about the change to NY law and how it was and will be now and how it will help in cases. If I have it right, before they couldn't even run DNA against their own NY database!

All should watch imo, it is an easy listen and not dry. I think @Tresir and @Cousin Dupree would find it interesting off the top of my head of who would, although I think all would... It is Emu's state for one so he should hear about the changes in law (we all should) and the Rosario rule/law is interesting as well although burdensome imo. This law is the only thing this LE guy does worry about in this case... With Tresir, I'd say they are subjects she has talked of if I recall, as have most all of us but recall her specificially..

Anyhow parking it here for anyone who wants a watch. He's worth it anyhow as he gets Harrison, Ray and other NY people who have been on or around this case, etc. on his show.

I park it here because he did the show because of the hearing yesterday which your post is also about and covers.

He is a one man show as he puts it. All the other retired NY LE I can think of have hired help behind the scenes.

This quote does not seem to make sense since she filed for divorce nearly as soon as he was arrested. Otherwise, why file for divorce?

Filing for divorce immediately was to protect assets, and to help herself and possibly him. I feel they even planned this if such ever came to pass, this is what you DO if I am arrested...

She isn't' imo divorcing him because she believes he is LISK and I think she knew it OR could care less if he is LISK and I certainly have ruled out a part in it for her either.

In Delphi, I can believe RA's wife wants to HOPE he is innocent but she would be smart to divorce and protect her share of assets, NOT help him with keeping all of them so she can help him as I think Asa may be doing and saving it from victims, lawyers, etc.

Not in this case. Asa knows what she is doing and knew immediately what to do. It sure isn't because she thinks him innocent.

This woman is BAD NEWS. Jmo. She isn't reeling. She is running the show. I am not saying she is running Rex but she is running a show. i think she full well knew her hub was LISK. And I have far from ruled out her involvement or silence.

I also want to say right now so I can point it out later, don't be surprised if she all of a sudden decides to speak out against CB or act like she is against him. I can see that happening and I wouldn't buy it for ONE MINUTE. it may never happen but I have a feeling and it would not surprise me that she may do that just to further things and donations, sympathy, etc. because most are tying her to this, to him, to her knowledge.

It is also interesting his attorney said this. I can see the Peacock (rumored it is Peacock) show now as she believes in him but has struggles as she knows him BUT that she does wonder if he could be guilty but hey she is his wife and feels she should stand by him while she give them a pic from a FIRST jail visit and attends a hearing, etc. Just wait for the ASA story or part of the story to come out on Peacock... They of course may well contrast it with the other side of the case as shows do...

I know the heinous things he likely did and I don't mean this by a long shot, he is the worst, but she almost bothers me worse. The TWO of them are a couple of evil conniving game players. The thrill of the game, the hunt, the kill, the thrill, the playing of people all for self/selves. The use and abuse of others, the use and play of the systems... HER total LACK of any acknowledgment of these victims and what they or their families went through whether she thinks CB did it or NOT. It is ALL the ASA show of POOR ME.

Okay, I'm sure you are all used to it by now. My last relieving a stressful work week by catching up with a few cases and letting my thoughts go on about such and getting thoughts off for a moment of all I have to do. I have to stop and get with it now probably to the relief of many.

ASA is bad news. I think she full well knew her hub was LISK and MAY have been involved and whether he knew she knew or not I leave up in the air but I think both DID know. I think if an arrest either came for either, they had discussed the course to take. I may reform this but she KNEW and she KNOWS now. At minimum. THAT woman does not think her hub innocent, that woman at minimum was fine with what her hub was doing.

So they are getting ready to charge him for the Maureen Brainard-Barnes case too depending on the GJ result? I watched the video of the NY LE guy and it was interesting - thanks for posting that - he seems a knowledgable guy and explained the Rosario law which I had no idea about that. He also explains the difference between types of DNA, and the sources, which I never knew either.

(Thanks for the links Summer and Gbear.)

I did not either and I thought you'd find all of those things interesting and he didn't go on into some deep scientific etc. explanation of any of it but kept it simple and short.

Yep Maureen coming soon is my guess. Can't see the GJ not reaching that finding. I wonder what all else is going on behind the scenes.

I did not think you'd find the vid a waste of time so that's why I suggested a watch.

Maureen had the WH belt around the burlap. It will be interesting.

Article from 2010 that says Shannan charged $250 per hour and was with Brewer for 3 hours according to the driver.

The man who drove the missing 24-year-old Jersey City prostitute to her client in Oak Beach, Long Island on May 1 -- the day she went missing -- said today she was "delirious" and "irrational" when she made a 23-minute 911 call from the john's house.

Another man, the boyfriend of

Shannon Maria Gilbert

, told The Jersey Journal today that he initially thought Gilbert, of Christopher Columbus Drive in Jersey City, had left him when she didn't return home.

When he realized she had gone missing, he was devastated, he said.

Suffolk County police and the FBI are investigating whether Gilbert is one of four decomposed female bodies discovered in recent

Yeah, grandpa had those initials if I recall? It would be awesome if they could find a pic of gpa wearing that belt buckle. That is just another example of making it likely Asa knew. If she knew of this belt and paid the least bit of attention (like her hub) did to the case where women were found dead near THEIR home, she'd recognize the belt and know it was CB.

I bet he thought he was so smart since it was not HIS name or initials. On the other hand maybe he wore it when doing the murders and meeting with prostitutes. Kind of creepy if so, was he honoring grandpa in some sick way...

I still want to know more about his family, what dad died from, how mom supported them, etc. Does his brother call or visit? What did he and his brother do when he'd go to SC for fun? Did he think CB gave him his vehicle just out of sweetness?

Has his mom been told of sonny boy's deeds? What ending days of her life, to realize you raised a monster in your midst. Does she watch the news?

I think someone claimed she had died but pretty sure by others she is still alive.

One classmate claimed he was weirdly attached to mom and had to get right to her or some such after school. Kind of sad that I bet she was proud of her Manhatttan, high flying, City helping, connected architect of a son only to now likely feel ashamed of him but who knows, maybe she doesn't believe he did it or doesn't even know about it depending on her health...

This 2015/2017 article has some interesting info. The most interesting is the final paragraph which I have marked with a line of asterisks. ***********

Gilgo Beach murders: 17 dead, suspected serial killer at large

12/11/2015 8:07 am PST

UPDATE Sept. 12, 2017: A carpenter convicted of killing two prostitutes in the 1990s may be responsible for at least one of the 10 unsolved killings of people along a Long Island beach highway.

It may be the most infamous unsolved serial killer case on the books today, a murder mystery Crime Watch Daily has been following closely near Gilgo Beach, Long Island, where at least 10 bodies, mostly strangled young women, were found hidden in the brush. Is convicted murderer John Bittrolff connected to these killings? WPIX's Mary Murphy investigates.
Dec. 11, 2015:
It is one of the most baffling serial murder cases in modern American history, centered on a lonely stretch of sand on the south shore of Long Island, New York.
Gilgo Beach is a small community with a big mystery on its hands. It's where the bodies of 17 brutally murdered young woman have been found, many of them dumped in the surrounding dunes over a period of 20 years.
Not a day goes by that Mari Gilbert doesn't long for an answer in the death of her 22-year-old daughter Shannan.
Shannan had traveled from New Jersey to Oak Beach, Long Island, near Gilgo Beach, for a date. Later that night she was seen running through the neighborhood in a blind panic.
Gilbert family attorney John Ray has logged more than 700 hours on the case tracing her steps that night.
"She runs out of his home, she calls 911, she runs through the neighborhood knocking on doors, and whenever someone comes to the door who attempts to call the police but not take her, in she runs," said Ray.
And on May 1, 2010, that's the last anyone's heard of her.
Police cleared Shannan's date of any foul play. But she remained missing, and her family pressed for answers.
Former Commander of the NYPD Bronx Homicide Task Force Vernon Geberth has worked hundreds of murder cases and has studied this one closely.
"I don't think if Shannan Gilbert's mother didn't make the hue and cry she did, they would've done anything in Suffolk County," said Geberth. "If that was some millionaire debutante from the Hamptons I'll bet there would have been a whole crew looking for her."
Seven months later police search teams find the body of a young woman in the weeds off Gilgo Beach. But it's not Shannan.
Police widen the search area, still looking for Shannan.
Instead they find the remains of three more young women, all of them like the first discovered body: strangled, stuffed in burlap bags and hidden in the scrub off the beach.
Detective Dominick Varrone is a former Suffolk County chief of detectives who worked the case.
"The initial four bodies, we believe, were simply the killer simply drove along Ocean Parkway pulled off to the side of the road, the shoulder we believe removed the body and tossed it into the bramble as far as he could," said Varrone.
As the case progressed, Mari Gilbert became friends with Lorraine Ela. Ela's daughter Megan Waterman was among the first victims found, six months after she went missing.
The following spring police found six more bodies near Gilgo Beach.
The area along Gilgo Beach where the bodies were found is cold, quiet and very dark in the winter, but in the summer, at the time of the discoveries, there were a lot of people here.
Out of those 10 bodies, not including Shannan's, only five have been positively identified.
When added with remains found in the wider area over two decades, some believe the killer may be responsible for up to 17 murders, more than half them unidentified. The nameless victims include an Asian male in women's clothing, and a mother and her young child.
"It was a unique case because there was a disposal site," said Gebreth. "Not many serial killers maintain a body disposal site. Now, the psychological significance of a disposal site is that the killer goes back to this site much more comfortable second, third, fourth time, but gets to relive the event, because the total control of another being is what drives them."
Police got their first break in the case when they made a connection with 24-year-old victim Melissa Barthelemy. Someone, possibly her killer, used her cellphone from Manhattan to call her sister with a chilling message.
"This guy's a sexual sadist, no doubt about it," said Gebreth. "For him to take the phone and call Melissa's little sister and vividly describe what he did to her sister and how he's going to do it to her, that is him reliving the crime. The problem was the calls were made from midtown Manhattan and they couldn't find it, too many calls. Then he disposed of the phone."
The disappearance of 23-year-old Shannan Gilbert leads to the discovery of multiple bodies of young women, most of them strangled and tossed into the dunes around Gilgo Beach.
Former Bronx Homicide Task Force Commander Vernon Geberth says the full-court press should have started the day police found the first four bodies wrapped in burlap.
"Everybody knows somebody in Long Island, and I'm telling you for the record that the person who did it was highly stressed and people close to him would've seen a sudden change in his demeanor, he wouldnt've gone to work, he would have started drinking, he would have acted strange and he would have left the area," said Geberth.
But some, like the Suffolk County Police, think that there may be more than one killer involved. It's not the first time the experts are divided.
"The D.A. says there are probably two killers because of what they found," said attorney John Ray. "One where two bodies were chopped up, the others where bodies were intact. So they say that can't be the same method, I disagree. The killer can easily learn from his own experience on how to kill and what to do about it and he changes over the course of years. And if the killer is intelligent, which this killer clearly is, they do change their methods."
Then a major break in the case: 19 months after she went missing, the decomposed body of Shannan Gilbert is found near Oak Beach, Long Island. It's the same place she made her last fateful 911 call a few miles down the road from Gilgo Beach.
The search for Shannan's body is the linchpin that uncovered a virtual mass grave of young victims. But now the Suffolk County Police speculate that Shannan was not murdered, but accidently drowned herself in a drug-induced haze.
That idea that is soundly rejected by Gilbert family attorney John Ray.
"The theory that Shannan used cocaine, became confused, tripped, fell, drowned and somehow her jeans were pulled off by the bramble bushes is the theory of the Suffolk City P.D. It's an absurd theory," said Ray. "The water in the marsh is only inches deep. She would have to work at it to drown and to end up where she did face-up makes no sense whatsoever."
The Suffolk County Police have refused to comment on the case to Crime Watch Daily.
But John Ray called for a second autopsy on Shannan's body by high-profile forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden. And accidental drowning is nowhere in his conclusions.
"The bone in her neck, known as the hyoid bone -- it's a shaped bone, small, maybe about that big, had two ends or 'horns' upon it," said Ray. "The horns are missing from the hyoid bone of Shannan Gilbert. That indicates strangulation. Virtually every girl who's strangled, virtually every girl's hyoid bone breaks."
At this point, every stage of the investigation has been one more step into the unknown. But things get even more strange with the introduction of Dr. Peter Hackett. He's a resident of Oak Beach, where Shannan was last seen. And he claims he saw her on the last night of her life.
Only two days after Shannan Gilbert's disappearance, her mother Mari hears from a mysterious stranger. He's the first to alert her that something may have happened to her daughter.
"I got a phone call from a man, he said 'My name is Dr. Peter Hackett, I'm calling to see if your daughter Shannan is there,' and I said 'No, why? Who are you?'," said Mari. "And he said he ran a wayward house for girls, Shannan was the, she was upset, she needed to get off the streets. He'd given her some medication to calm her down, and he was worried about her, is she home?"
Dr. Peter Hackett is a former physician for the Suffolk County Police who was living in Oak Beach when Shannan went missing in the neighborhood.
"I had asked him, 'How did you get my number?'," said Mari. "And he told me that it's policy that if anybody goes to his house that he has to have contact information, and I knew that was wrong. Shannan, none of my children would ever give my phone number to anyone."
Gilbert family attorney John Ray says Dr. Hackett is a man who deserves a close look by investigators.
"He never ran such a home. It's a complete fantasy, a drug-infused fantasy, perhaps, but fantasy," said Ray. "And why is he making that particular fantasy in this case, why has that not been thoroughly investigated?"
At first Hackett denied making any phone calls to Mari Gilbert
"Dr. Hackett denied on national television and in writing that he ever made those phone calls," said Ray.
He later admitted making the calls when the phone records were made public. But Hackett claims he never said anything about running a home for wayward girls, and that he never met Shannan Gilbert."
Hackett said he had no knowledge of Shannan Gilbert, never saw her, never met her, never talked to her, that this was all nonsense.
Crime Watch Daily reached out to Dr. Hackett's attorney James O'Rourke several times, with no response. In an interview with Newsday, O'Rourke said of his client: "He never saw her. He never met her. He never treated her."
And police have not identified Hackett a suspect.

*********************
When Shannan's body is finally found 19 months after she disappeared, her mother, Mari Gilbert, gets the shock of her life when police take her to view the scene.
"One of the detectives picked me up in his car, drove me, took me to Peter Hackett's house, took me on his back balcony of his house and from his balcony they pointed and showed me where they found my daughter behind his house," said Mari. "I'll never forget that day."
The case has heated up with the Gilbert family suing Hackett for the wrongful death of Shannan.
Dr. Peter Hackett has given three depositions in regards to the Shannan Gilbert civil suit filed against him. He claims he had nothing to do with her death.
Peter Hackett has refused a formal interview with Crime Watch Daily. But we waited for him in the courthouse parking lot after his deposition to see if he had anything to say. He denied running a home for wayward girls.
But Shannan's mother Mari says he absolutely told her he ran a home for wayward girls in his phone call to her.
Asked if he had anything to do with Shannan Gilbert's death? "Of course not," said Hackett.
